@@joshuaglock9 I used artic silver on my launch backwards compatible ps3, and with the fan set to 41% it only gets up to about 53 Celsius after playing games for a long time. Stock that console would be running probably at least 72c-80c maybe a little hotter. I did a couple other cooling mods to it aswell though. My ps4 however is bone stock as far as I know. I think they make these consoles just run kinda hot so they will die at some point and youll need to buy a new one.

If you take it apart slightly and clean all the dust out of it the fan wouldn’t have to work so hard to cool the gpu. That’s what I did and it quieted down significantly.

playing the games coming out of the far end of ps4 lifecycle will sound regardless, i play red dead 2 and warzone and my ps4 pro sound like crazy sometimes, but its not that big deal. the biggest problem is yet to come because ghost of tsushima comes out in 2 weeks and that game is gonna have some of the best music in gaming history so this is definately an issue i really hope ps4 pro can run that game somewhat quiet

Just got a PS4 slim for our vacation house and was shocked at how small and quiet it is compared to my PS4 Pro at home. It’s dead silent and seriously tiny. I think it may be the best overall console version despite the lack of 4K support.

Pro is still not bad.. Sure, it makes a bit more sound then the Slim, but it's also more powerfull so gets hotter and needs more cooling.. Just keep it in a well ventilated not to hot place.. Do not put it in some cabinet like some people do, then it will get hotter and make more noise.. Common sense really.. PS4 original, now that's bad.. I would replace it with a slim or Pro for sure, just to get rid of the noise..

You are one of the few lucky ones. Most shiny PS4s are loud as jet engines, there literally gazillions of videos, and noise is always talked about in the subsequent revisions reviews, because it has always been a problem.

I read of people changing thermal paste and still having a noisy system. Instead I learned that there are two suppliers of the fan, Delta is the one making the noisier one, Nidec is making the quieter one. So who wants a silent one must also check their fan maker. Both the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim are way more silent than the base PS4 which sounds like a jetliner's engine to be honest. The Slim is obviously the most silent one. I'm assuming that these two consoles can get even quieter if using digital games instead of discs.

I've played a number of games on the the pro and the sound doesn't change at all it's still quiet these games have ranged from infinite warfare to Skyrim And the sound hasn't changed really the Last Of Us and Skyrim both are native 4K and it doesn't changed the sound it's no where near the original

Tbh I've learned to forget the sound when I'm playing to only be remembered how bad or loud it sounds when I turn it off. The slim version is perfectly fine and if the PS5 is quieter than that, oh my god that will be insane. To finally play games at night at lower sound levels and not to be forced to crank the volume up only to "cover" the PS4 noise. Amazing! Although if PS5 is in line with the slim version I'd be more than happy too.

The PS4 Pro is 2.3x faster than the PS4/Slim and 2.5x faster than Xbox One/S. Yeah it's a beast when talking about consoles. Obviously my 3000$ PC is faster. But then again, my PC can't play the awesome PS exclusives in HDR on my 4K TV.
