Another Great Repair and Video! I didn't even know there was copper tape, until your videos. The ultrasonic toothbrush is an Excellent idea as well. Thank You. 😀

Thank you! Copper tape has turned out to be very useful! I can't take credit for the UC Toothbrush idea, that was a recommendation of @TheArtofRepair !

Now that is what I call a UV lamp. I have seen some use solder wick to anchor down ground terminals
@MicroMageRepair Жыл бұрын
Yes it is, I have found I get impatient with the laser because it requires I hold it to cure, had issues with getting a thorough cure as a result, so I just place the big lamp and do something else for a bit. Have seen the solder wick method, and it is a great approach too. This is just the method I came up with prior to seeing that one and have just stuck with what I do.

its actually really easy to rip the connector off its poorly designed I've taken off those connectors from dozens of ps3s and ps4s and that's never happened to me. I barely tugged and it popped right off. I've used more force on nintendo switch connectors. Even as a Playstation fanboy I am saying that connector is poorly designed.

what type of copper tape are you using? i tried using copper tape that was supposed to be conductive on the adhesive side as well but it didn't work. i couldn't find the product you used in the video or in the description. is there an amazon affiliate link for your copper tape? great video btw :)

Unfortunately there isn't much in the way of identification on my tape rolls. I picked them up from an electronics surplus store (when there was still some of those around). It's vital to clean the adhesive side off before trying to solder with it. I usually solder the non adhesive side down then clean it off.

I've made a few adjustments to this technique that have helped. I've begun pretinning the pads before soldering them to the board. The ground pads in particular have increased in strength quite a bit.

hello I also have the same problem, the fan was torn off by a beginner, I wanted to resolder it but the problem is that there is a pin that I cannot solder because the track is completely unusable, where There are 3 pins, the one on the right can be soldered, the one in the middle too, it's the least complicated because it's ground but the one on the left I really can't. Is it possible to point to another location on the motherboard? thank you for helping me

I went to a shop to fix it and they were charging me 200 bucks,so I would like to know how much would you really charge for this
@MicroMageRepair6 ай бұрын
My situation is different and not really comparable. I don't have a shop's overhead. I also factor in shipping cost, wich is not insignificant, into my prices. Otherwise, I'd never get any mailed in. My overall cost with shipping comes in cheaper than $200 but you will have more hoops to jump through and a longer turn around due to shipping times. I do offer proof of my results right here in video form, so you don't have to wonder about how it will turn out. It just depends on your needs.

Easy fix.Planned obsolescence. Make it so you need to take it apart to clean it. It breaks easily while you do it. Ps5 sony garbage. The fix is this. Grab a USB cable, cut off other end. On connector plug that came off board. Solder on 3 2" leads. The 2 outside wires, twist together. They go to the positive on the cable. The center is the negative. Solder it to the negative wire on usb cable. Insulating wires, test it in a 5 volt USB wall plug. If it works, close the bottom of ps5 the up and plug the USB cable in the back. This worked for mine. "F" sony, they did this on purpose.

About how much is this repair?

I'd ask that you head over to micromage.repair and get in touch. Prefer not to quote in my public comments as prices are subject to change over time and people just discovering this video won't understand that.

I paid 95
@taconinja56756 ай бұрын
Dude was going to charge me $80. So I asked one simple, innocent question: Why is it so expensive? A fair enough question, I think? I then said that IF and when I need his services that I'd like to just send the motherboard so as to significantly cut down on the shipping cost I'd have to pay. He messaged back, declining to work on my fan connector, LOL. Shit like that makes him seem suspect as hell and untrustworthy (in my opinion), so if I were you (or anyone else) I'd be cautious dealing with this dude. Imagine denying a potential customer service just because they asked a simple question. I genuinely wanted to know what it is about this procedure that makes it so costly and that's how I was treated.

@@taconinja5675well you’re just being a lowballer from what I see. The man offered a service with shipping price included. But you were thinking of taking out the motherboard for better shipping price due to less weight and dimension. Why would you want to only ship the motherboard when the quality control is on the customer’s end but you expect the blame to be put on the technician if anything gets broken during the transport. I’d say he was wise to deny you from service. And don’t forget if any customer end up damaging the motherboard while they’re trying to pry open the PS5, nothing much a technician can do whilst getting the blame of customer’s fault
