It was an excellent breakdown. Cerny addressed aspects of the console with class and thorough explanations. The PS5 Pro is very well made, and efficient. More importantly, it is not trying to be a PC, it has its own custom hardware built for console focused features.

The expected blown up tech talk, mostly meaningless in light of the disappointing results of the first wave of game enhancements. You stated we would get PC like graphics on the PS5 Pro but it's already clear this wont happen. Look at the many FF7 Rebirth PC port enhancements compared to what we got on the PS5 Pro, which got only a resolution bump.

Increasing clockspeed and decreasing cost per transistor (which allowed for more complex architectures, bigger caches, more dram on dram sticks/modules) was the underlying key to chip advancement for the past 50 years. Its all falling apart now. We will be lucky to get 2x improvement. They will have to lean bigtime on AI to make up the gap.

That Cerny confirmed the PS5 PRO is clocked the same as base PS5 which in theory is a 18TF console but they didnt advertise it. And also that RDNA3 had compatiability issues so they went rdna 2.x. So if they go UDNA with PS6 how will that not be an issue?

They're learning all the time they'll figure it out. Mark Cerny already admitted that they mistakenly thought they had to match the clock speeds of the base PS4 withv the 4 Pro in order to maintain full compatibility.The PS6 is a way off yet they'll find a way to ensure full back compat

I still think all of this was a waste for the consumers. When is PS6 set to launch? I'm not a fan of mid gen consoles. Not Xbox One X or PS5 Pro. At that point, may as well be on PC. I wish the devs could just squeeze the most out of the fixed hardware on launch consoles, like in the 360 and PS3 era. I don't think devs have enough time anymore before having to learn and move onto new technologies. Look how much was built into the Series X that never got used. 🤦

If thats the direction of amd with RT and ML. Microsoft may really change architecture come 2026! Thats the real future. They are still no were close to dlss , tensor cores or rt cores. And they just only added 1gb of memory for games! This ps5 pro aint it! Once PSSR is not used, its raw performance, fidelity and RT boost are all minimal! Ps5pro is a beta test, its a scam at $700.

No they won't they will have to start from scratch with there A.I so by the time the PS6 comes along they will be ahead of the game. Plus, outside of the U.S the Xbox brand is DEAD. Makes no difference if they come out with a console or handheld, even it's more powerful, they won't sell well. The Series X is more powerful than the PS5, how did that go. Plus no reason to buy an Xbox now that their games are going everywhere.

@mushypee1 If they go with Nvidia or Intel. They already have dlss and xess which are ahead of pssr! And the series x unlike the ps5 can run int 8 ops in hardware. And since rdna 4 also runs ML inference through the cusjust mire effectively. The series x will get the fsr4.0 upgrade next year. The 49 tops of int 8 ml inference in the xsx is actually enough for Microsoft Auto SR solution that requires 40tops. So xbox is getting a big upgrade next year. The difference before was that Sony locked several games off of xbox. That makes it very hard to compete. Now that strategy is not working for many of their huge third party AAA devs. They are moving to a multiplat approach. And now xbox has tons more games. They just have to land quality and stay consistent. The narrative will change. Xbox will still have exclusives, timed exclusives, and multiplat titles. All will be on gamepass. Pc is the fastest growing demographic. What Microsoft has to do is make a console that has PC capabilities. That is powerful and priced right. And probably have an upgrade path with the gpu/ram. And allow players the option to customize their play experience beyond performance and fidelity mode. And the next xbox in 2026 would not leave the power narrative up for debate. They are going all out. And many gamers are dissapointed in the ps5pro. The new xbox will have the next-generation versions of every game and let's face it. The biggest games of this gen have not released yet. And cod, nba 2k, Madden, Fifa and gta 6 are about to go next gen and people will go for tge best place to play. Xbox will be 2 generations ahead of xbox one and ps4. Fans will go for that transformative experience. And gamepass goes right along with it and xbox has the best ecosystem, easily!
