This popped up in my feed and I clicked it because I'm below a novice at soldering and it would do me some good to watch someone with experience. Even as a novice repairing electronics, at least I've never considered taking an angle grinder to a pcb! Great explanation on why you charge what you do. You don't charge for your time, you charge for your experience and skills.

The micro probes you sell are excellent for spreading super thin layers of solder mask on the board. I find it to be much more precise than using tweezers or a razor blade. Give it a shot.

9:23 he is saying the right thing, you don't pay the price of repair, you pay the price for the experience, bcz he has so many years of experience, he can repair these consoles in 10 mins which other repair shop takes hours to do. In any business, time is money, the time you invested in your early days will return you with a lot of money later.

I don’t understand why people do things like this. On what planet do you take a dremel and burn off the board down to the ground plane?! I know a lot about electronics (especially the digital EE side), but I have to go slow and work carefully because, unlike Alex, I don’t do this professionally day-in and day-out. It’s impressive how much SMT skill is on display, but when he reworks a pad or lays down a bodge trace, he knows by sight and repetition exactly how to do it. I have to go and watch a video for reference to ensure I don’t do something stupid, and even then I still make dumb mistakes (I’ve lifted-off more pads than a helicopter pilot). Take the time to do it as carefully as possible, and make sure you have the right tools and parts - then you won’t have to see your borked up attempt getting roasted by Alex and the comments section.

"This was easy, can you do something hard?" Making it look easy is the name of the game man... I tried changing a V520B in a SNES controller and the traces were lifting left and right, bending the jump wire would tear the traces, soldering the jumping wire would unsolder the other end... It was hell, i failed... In theory. Grind the mask, jump wire. In practice, it's something else...

However I just want to know if you repair GPUs on laptops cuz i have a 2020 acer predator helios 300 with a gpu problem and it may be a bad vram or something else. I used to have error code 43 on GPU in device manager and now the GPU has dissapeared from the device manager and can only be seen from the bios. I need to know before mailing it because i haven't seen any video where you replace vrams.
