I always thought the game was kind of like if telltale games made a game with some action gameplay moments, in reality this had more gameplay than say, until dawn (which I also loved) I just think it got a lot of shit because it was an early ps4 game and was used for console fanboying wars. (Like ryse on Xbox did, which also wasn’t that bad)

I have been able to get refunds very easily so they seem to be more lax.

Amazing game but I understand. There is a ceiling to the game's sales and that's user interest in Remake. How many people are going to buy Rebirth if they didn't finish or even like Remake? It's not like a movie where you can catch up in one sitting, it's a 40 hr experience and despite SE's marketing, it is required material before playing Rebirth. That, and Rebirth being on a console that has less of an audience compared to PS4 when Remake released, and it's pretty clear to see why the game didn't do so well.

My biggest issue with the playstation store reviews is that nearly every single game I check out is 4+ stars so it kind of makes it useless when seemingly everybody who rates games on there gives it a 5. It makes it lose its weight.

I check ratings of games A LOT (for fun and to kinda estimate how much they sold - even though I know it's not a really useful metric to do it) and there are only two options most people choose: 5 stars or 1 star. Even though a game could be rough around the edges but still a lot of fun and have like 200+ 5-stars, 4-stars and maybe 3-stars ratings it also has like 200+ 1-star ratings. I know opinions are subjective but when shovelware games have better ratings than games from small devs where you can tell they put in some hard work into their game it's kinda sad.

The Order 1886 was a decent game. It could have used some more time in the oven to make the boss fights better and to flesh out the shooting sequences, but I think they were rushed out to fill the post-launch drought PS4 had (which Bloodborne saved btw), while Naughty Dog got to keep delaying Uncharted 4 and take their sweet time. Much like Days Gone 2, a sequel would have been fantastic and an opportunity to have an "Uncharted 2" moment with a fully established tech pipeline and game blueprint that just gets tweaked and taken to the next level.

The written review feature can't come soon enough, so many PSVR2 games get review bombed and are then updated and become far better experiences, meanwhile the majority of the scores stay at 1 star.. It will be nice to give more info to people who are interested about the game.

The games get updated by developers, fixing any issues or adding things that completely improve a game but then old shitty outdated reviews remain that affect sales that do not reflect the current state of the game. You contradict your last statement that FF games don’t sell well as PS exclusive when Remake started as a PS4 exclusive and sold well during its launch. I don’t know if people realize this but the decision to make modern FF games PS exclusives happened during development of XV and after XIII performance. At that time FF name was still strong, especially in Japan (FF used to sell millions just first week in Japan and raised significant console sales) and guess where the majority of the player base is - on the PS consoles. The split for those games were like 80:20 in favor of the PS consoles. Also making a game exclusive can make a game to launch faster with better quality. The lowest rated FF games like XIII and XV were all multiplatforms. The decline of FF sales got very little to do with the games being exclusive but more so on the FF brand (they are struggling with converting younger audience) and significant changes in Japanese market which used to be their main market.

I'll still remain a bit positive on Rebirth's sales. It is currently the 6th best selling game in the the US and was 8th in Japan PS Store last July. It probably didnt do as well as Remake and 16 did in its first week but that Mochizuki dude from bloomberg (tho i still wouldn't fully trust him) did say that the sales are fine even if it didn't reach its target so idk I'll wait at the end of the year to see if its really a flop or it did fine and will continue to sell once it wins some awards and the inevitable pc port. I guess Kiryu needs to make a statement about Rebirth and 16s sales figures whenever he's ready he must've didn't wanna deal with the extra stress from the press when the press twisted his words about FF16s sales last year about the inline with their expectations and the didnt reach high end expectations bs. IGN and various sites were also citing mochizuki saying FF16 caused SE to lose $2B which was so misleading.

I would love to see the PSN store bring up genres/developers/styles of any title to search via those categories. We already have *store menus* that show "Puzzle, Fighting, RPG" etc., but I'm talking about from a game's *page!* The ability to select more, like "By Developer Name, By Publisher Name, Card Games, Couch Co-Op" and so on. I've found so many amazing films on Letterboxd because they show you all these types of categories for film (studio, actors, crew, cast, etc.), so I wish we could get this for PSN too.

Still no way to alphabetize our trophy lists. This was a feature waaaaaay back on PS3 and it was subsequently removed for PS4 and still hasn’t returned. I hate the ‘last trophy earned pushes that game to the top of your list’ method that they force on us. Also, when will Sony let us permanently erase a game from our trophy list with a partially complete percentage? Not hide, PERMANENTLY DELETE. I have no interest in seeing a game sitting on my list at 75%, 83%, 99% etc. all because the online server has shut down or the trophy is bugged or otherwise poorly designed. I have literally passed on thousands of dollars worth of games simply because the trophy list looked sketchy, and I don’t want anything but 100%+Platinum on my list. Thousands of dollars. I think the virtual link for PSVR2 would have been locked in when the standard was abandoned, as PS5 was due out the same year and the plan would have already been for the PSVR2 to connect via the usb-c port at the front. It would have been too late to change the connection to the PS5 at that point, so it is feasible what Sony are saying about PC support always being planned.

Im guessing in order for the PSVR2 to work on the PS5 through the 1 usbc port that it is using a virtual link connection, so I can see how they were using that for PC as well. They probably locked in PS5 hardware when it was still supported and looking good and they couldn't switch it up on PS5 at that point. They then had to develop an adapter to make it work on PC since it wasn't supported any more over there, which could be why it took so long for PC support to happen.

I'm not sure that I buy that PS VR2 was always intended for PC. It, at least, seems as though there was conflict internally. The progression to getting it on PC felt too rushed/sudden when it started - which could be because they had forecast better sales with PS5. Either way, I don't think PC PS VR2 sales would have eaten into PS5 PS VR2 sales, for a few reasons I can't be bothered to type out right now. Secondly, if it was intended from the very start - why is there not more feature parity? You'd think they'd want that if only to ecnourage things like foveated rendering as an industry standard -- making the PS VR2 a more appealing purchase.

I'll be honest here, Until Dawn I feel is at it's best when it's avoiding Horror Tropes cause the player has control of doing that and again you can go for the predictable route of doing what every Horror Movie does and kill everyone off. I feel if the movie is going to be faithful to the game I think going for more of a horror film that the survivors are aware of the tropes and avoid them like the game being at it's best and in the end become better people after dealing with the horrors at bay could be the key to doing something more successful than just an average low rate Horror flick.

When Bungie announced a "science-fantasy action incubation project" that'd be spun-off to PS Studios, my feverish hope was we'd see a low-to-mid budget singleplayer FPS game that pushes Bungie back into the mindset they had as a studio when they were making Halo 1.
