You had to be on a waiting list for a PS2 When they first available for 299.00 and people selling them on EBay for $600. I was going to list mine on EBay but I didn’t, I think at the time GameStop was the only place you could buy the first batch of the PS2 they would call u and if u didn’t pick it up within like an hour they would call the next person on the list, that’s how they done it here in Montana anyway.

Ps2 was the Golden arrow for me. It was my absolute introduction and I had to sell it. I could not stop playing the games. That was my introduction to Resident Evil 4 and I just could not stop playing the games I could not. I was after like the 4th or fifth time going to work with no sleep at all. -Man, inflation is beyond Sony’s control. Everything is getting more and more expensive faster than pay rises. - for less than one new game a year you are getting at least 2, usually 3 games each month, that is 24-36, so around 30 games a year. I have more than 400 games this way and would never try and discovered some amazing gems. - premium tier has access to many, many games, movies as well and game streaming. Those servers need to be invested in, maintained, protected and staff needs to be paid as well. If you so upset about pricing, just get free PSN for life - buy enough Sony shares that PSN is covered by dividends payments.

They didn't double the essential tier though. It was like 30%, and when you break that down per month it comes down to like £1 extra month. Your take on the tiers is just a bit weird to be honest. It doesn't segregate plays, you still all place online together regardless of tier. The only thing it does is give you more games to play. And technically they already had that with PSNow, rolling it into PS+ just made the whole thing simpler and made it easier for them to compete with MS gamepass. If all you had before was PS+ and you didn't have PS Now, then under the new scheme of things you are no worse off. You just stay on PS+ essential tier. A tiny price rise when the service hasn't had one for years seems a little petty to be getting all upset about to be honest.

No themes. You can get photos, pout them on usb, transfer the photos over, and then put them as a static background. But its only the background while you are on certain pages, otherwise the game pages take over anyway. So its really not worth it. But sadly, no, nothing like the ps4 themes etc. Although I hated how they clogged up the store (so i dont miss that!), but I did enjoy my Halloween Jack-o-Lantern Theme. And laser cat... Boy I forgot about a lot of those already!

Things got worse after Yoshida was demoted and it's only gotten worse, in recent years. A large chunk of the PS2 sales where for home media use not gaming. Gaming was a niche in the 2000s, I lived through it, it was my childhood. Literally nobody in my life respected gaming, it was massively niche and being a big gamer was seen as "nerdy" or taboo. What was huge in the 2000s was the home media explosion and the PS2 was cheaper than most DVD players of the time.

Yeah for $375 for a disc-less version, and Trumps tariffs coming in 2025, they say the consoles could jump $200 next year. So I bought a Fortnite Ps5 slim for my nephew on sale (8 years olds dont care about discs), its basically just 1000 VBucks thrown in but he loves Fortnite. Anyway Im not giving it to him until next year for his birthday, those tariffs will kill console sales. So much for ever catching the PS2 in sales :( I feel the economy was out of the ps5's control though, and it suffered unfairly for it. So if it gets hammered by tariffs next year - Ill give it a little * next to its final sales when its all over ha-ha
