I had the old one, sold ít, got the new one. Im happy. Alot of games on the ps5 had minor hickups, some small fps dips, sometimes greater ones. Elden Ring had bad frametimes. All these problems are gone. All games i played are now flawless, and games like Dragon Age run most of the time 60. Im happy. And still cheaper than a gaming pc (thanks to damn NVIDIA) hey a bought a new Laotop on top and still saved money.

Zooming in to spot the difference doesn't justify a 700 USD price tag plus tax. Also, I thought the whole idea of the pro was Fidelity running at 60fps? Yet, the Pro has "Fidelity Pro" and then a "Performance Pro" and "Performance Pro" is still not quite 4K. Honestly, 4K60 was what the base PS5 was marketed to be. But Sony underdelivered and even the Pro falls short of the original promise. Easily the worst generation in console gaming.

It looked much better, no longer suffered from delayed texture loading, and offered bigger set pieces. The "8-hour" single-player game was what gamers were expecting, given that the first was the same. It had its niche audience and it delivered to that audience. Not to mention that it was still a brand new IP at that time, coming after Jak and Daxter (which in turn came after Crash Bandicoot). For each console generation, Developers like ND created new IPs. The start of the PS4 era was when creativity started waning. By the time the PS5 came out, most releases are just remasters or remakes of past IPs, with brand-new IPs flopping more often than not.

I think not including the descriptions of these graphics modes is causing a lot of confusion and misinformation. "Performance Pro" mode (they should have named it something else) is actually the visual equivalent of the original PS5's Fidelity mode, raytracing and all, running at 60FPS (w/o VRR enabled). "Fidelity Pro" mode features higher crowd/traffic density than the original PS5's Fidelity mode, better hair detail and extra raytracing features than the original PS5's Fidelity mode, running at 30FPS (w/o VRR enabled). This is not a verdict one way or another for whether or not it's worth the price, just wanted to give some much needed context.

I believe that's the PSSR thing that they introduced for the Pro. It's similar to DLSS and FSR on PC which usually make the image quality more blurry/pixelated to achieve higher performance. There is no such thing on the original PS5.

@Marco_Zemi94 it does not have more performance. The raytracing is higher fidelity on the ps5 pro, and it's using pssr. Pssr has a framerate cost. If you tested the ps5 pro using the same settings as base ps5, the ps5 pro will have higher performance. It's just like taking a new graphics card and turning the graphics from med to high or very high. The performance on the new card may be the same or slightly worse because you turned up the graphics settings.

The biggest games for me that got upgraded are Stellar Blade, DD2, Jedi Survivor, and FF7Rebirth. Some of these PS5 exclusives haven’t really change because they were already so overly optimized that it’s hard to see a difference. Biggest thing is PSSR while playing. Still images aren’t going to look much different.

I was actively playing through spider-man 2 before upgrading and the difference was night and to day to me on the pro in performance mode. I do sit quite close to my tv however.

There’s definitely a difference if you have the right tv, I was able to play spider man 2 at 120 fps. Looks sharper, and smooth. Watching a KZbin video doesn’t show full specs

Upscale resolution is never gonna be beat native resolution you can put any game “enhanced” game on 4k 30 frames and it’s always gonna win and look better than any pro mode they lie and said you won’t have to choose between graphics and performance but they can’t even deliver 4k60 No wonder they removed the 8k from the box also haha I bought the console but come one let’s not be blind fanatics the console is not worth and I regret buying it

This is just my opinion, but the slight graphical improvement doesn't warrant me to go out and spend an additional $200 for the Pro model when the OG PS5 still holds up. Besides, I mostly game on PC so I'll just wait till these games come to PC to have a much more better experience.
