@Lloyd Sosa I filed my 105 by hand and it's been rock solid. I took my time and checked often. It required nearly a mm of filing but I went nice and slow and after a couple of hours it was installed and hasn't budged. I got impatient with my 74, and used a dremel. Much much faster, but I think I filed a pinch too much. It backed out less than a mm and stopped, so I don't think it's going anywhere now, but in the future I would recommend filing and checking often. Using a sharpie to determine where things are rubbing was very helpful. Good luck!

Actually not a bad rig. PSA are pretty damn good imo. More interested in the range you got setup. I own a lot of land in NC and had a rather wide plot setup for war games and drills but then someone bought up an adjacent lot of sixty acres and put a guest house right on the edge where mt land intersects theirs and I was damn pissed. So I’m now resetting a few acres similar to what I’m seeing on your video. Not before I bury two containers and setup a double lane range next to my lovely neighbors guesthouse. Their guest will thank me for the ambient noise at all hours of the day. Inside metal containers they have a really distinct clanking sound. Like music really. To my neighbors, your welcome. :)

Ha! Yeah this is my first PSA AK in a rifle caliber (I have an AK-V in 9mm as well). So far I'm very pleased. That's too bad about the neighbors and their guest house. We are fortunate to have a lot of land and my range is basically in the middle of it all so we've had very few complaints so far. Having a home range is the best, it makes such a big difference. Good luck with your new setup - and thanks for watching!

Oh yes! This is almost exactly how I gonna set up AK-105 when I save up money for it in the first place :D. My 103 is kinda a mix of Zenitco and Western parts (tried to copy an FSB operator's AK). Btw, love that handguard choice. Imho, the bottom rail with no sides makes the most sense. It's bit lighter than regular B-30 but it still has the bottom shape, which goes well along with the receiver shape and you're free to use any pic rail accessories on the bottom without the need to use Basis segments. I kinda hate how the ultralight Zenitco handguards with no bottom rail looks :).
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for the kind words! I agree, aside from the newfound prestige of being hard to get and expensive, I think these Zenitco parts are practical, effective and attractive. I do have a slim sport-4 rail that I might put on my 74 just to try it out, , but I agree, the "U" series with the basis side rails and picatinny underside are the most practical for US based folks, and I do think they have the cleanest look as well. Glad to hear you haven't had any reliability issues but sorry to hear about the key holing. I tested for key holing at 50 yards using wolf performance and the holes looked perfect. I've heard people have had issues with monarch because the diameter is ever so slightly less than wolf for example, and so the rifling in the PSAs fails to stabilize the bullet. Not sure if silver bear is included in that. Hopefully PSA can get things sorted for you. Good luck, and thanks for watching!

I was under the impression that the AK-47 was perfection (I haveno knowledge of rifles at all) can you tell me how the 105 improves on it?
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
So, kind of a long story but I'll try to keep it brief. The 47 came first and was chambered in 7.62x39. Later the AK-74 was introduced, modeled after the AK-47 but chambered in the 5.45x39 cartridge to compete with the M-16. In the 90s, Russia introduced the AK-100 series, primarily for the American market as I understand, with some modernized features. The 105 is chambered in 5.45x39, so it's a modernized AK-74, with a 12.5" barrel instead of 16.3". The advantage there is weight and size reduction which makes it more ergonomic and able to fit in tighter spaces. Also, the 5.45x39 cartridge does not lose too much velocity with the shorter barrel. Neither does 7.62x39, which is why the AK-104 (7.62x39 version, a 12.5" barreled modernized AK-47) is also popular. Both of these calibers lose less velocity than the 5.56x45 round used in the M4/M16, which is one of the reasons people find them interesting. I also just think they look cool 😎 I did skip over the AKM for the sake of brevity, which came between the original AK-47 and the AK-74. Basically the entire platform has seen various evolutions over the years. The 100 series is one of the more modern iterations. Most recently there are other variants like the AK-12 and AK-19, but that's a whole other can of worms. Hopefully that helps. Thanks for watching!

I've got an AR-10 that's currently my go to all around defense/SHTF rifle, but I'm looking to get into something that's more specialized and actually suitable for, defense, bugout, patrolling etc. I really like 5.45 AK's specifically these newer zenitco builds. I'm not sure though if it would be better to get into an AR pistol game, or get this exact AK-105 but with an SB brace. I could roughly get a PSA AR pistol plus 12 mags, 2000 rounds of ammo, foregrip, & sling for a little over $1700. If I were to get this AK, and get all of these same upgrades minus the stock, it would run me up roughly $2348.74 (this is not only before taxes but before any ammo, AK mags, and a sling are factored in). How does this PSA AK stack up against waiting to buy a higher quality AR pistol from DD, BCM etc.? Would you say it's worth waiting to sink money into this AK or waiting to put about the same amount of money into a higher end AR pistol?
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
As much as I love 5.45 AKs, for serious use I would absolutely go with an AR instead. If nothing else, 223 and 5.56 are infinitely more common and easy to find in the US, the magazines are more common, parts are far more ubiquitous, etc. 5.45 guns are fun, but I wouldn't consider them practical for serious use in this country, especially with the future availability of the round being in question. @ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
I have concerns as well for sure. I was able to grab a decent amount earlier this year so I should be good for a little while. There are rumors that K-USA and PSA are working on spinning up manufacturing capabilities for 7.62x39 and 5.45x39. If that's the case, hopefully we'll have a local option in the future. Hopefully it will also be affordable and reliable. So while things currently don't look very good I'm hopeful for the future. It's a really fun round. In my opinion (which should be taken with the tiniest grain of salt), I would recommend getting what ammo you can and shooting it as is for now. Make sure it runs well, enjoy it in its original configuration, and warranty it if there are any issues. Then in the future if 5.45x39 becomes completely unavailable, you could always consider rebarreling it then. Just my take. Thanks for watching!

@ChestersHobbies Жыл бұрын
There are some great tutorial videos and articles on how to file a form 1, it's a fairly simple process. The most common form 1 type is turning a pistol into a short barreled rifle, so getting a 105 pistol would work, you just couldn't put the stock on it until the form 1 has been approved. There are a lot of other nuances to consider, I would recommend doing some research on the pluses and minuses before jumping in. Good luck and enjoy!

@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your 105! That's great. Hopefully you'll have a ton of fun with it. The DTK-2 is a great brake, I've been happy with it. Yes you want the 4.5mm stock/brace options. Keep in mind you'll most likely need to sand down the pin to get it to fit through the Zenitco parts. The PSA pins are a little too thick for most standard 4.5mm parts, but once fitted they work fine. I talked to someone a while back that had an RP-1 on his and it kept falling off. He switched to the RP-5 and it's been fine. So I think that's probably the best bet. Good luck and enjoy - and thanks for watching!

Interesting, the site I ordered from let you select 4.5mm or 5.5mm. And then the PT-5 which attaches to a standard AKM fixed trunnion. But I believe you're correct, an AKS-74U in my experience would usually be a 4.5mm folding trunnion so that's what you'd want I would guess. Good luck!

@ChestersHobbies Жыл бұрын
There appear to be a wide variety of GF3s available so it's hard to say for sure, but it looks like most of them are not side folders. There's a company called Isle MFG that makes a picatinny rail adapter for Zenitco stocks, but they are rarely in stock and in high demand when they are. I'd recommend researching it more but my understanding is that you can get any PT-1 stock and use the adapter because it replaces the folding mechanism, but I could be wrong so don't quote me on that. Good luck, and thanks for watching!

Has a real John Wick vibe to it that is fun to edit to. In more recent videos I've gotten better at editing the gunshots to the beat of the music, which is a lot of fun as well. How much does it weigh after all of the Zenitco upgrades? I've been considering getting a Zastava M90 with pretty much identical furniture, but I have a feeling that it would be one very chonky boy to hold in an unsupported position for a long time.
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
I bet it would be really chonky indeed! My 105 weighed 7lbs 6.5oz from the factory with an empty magazine. Adding the Zenitco stock, handguards, vfg, muzzle brake, B33 rail, charging handle cap, tango down pistol grip and holosun optic brought it up to 8lbs 15oz. So just over a pound and a half. The Wolverine adds around 21oz I believe, so it's just over 10 pounds suppressed. The 105 balances quite well unsuppressed though, the weight is well distributed in this configuration. My concern with the M90 would be trying to keep some of that weight towards the center or rear to avoid being too front heavy since it's a much longer barrel. Good luck and enjoy!
@Struggles_yt2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you've been asked what is the barrel length? Thanks

Fair warning though, it was my first video and it's pretty rough lol. Thanks for watching!

thanks for getting back to me! I just saw it now. It’s a gorgeous rifle. I just wanted to ask how did you get the stock? Because I searched their website and didn’t see one with a stock.
@ChestersHobbies Жыл бұрын
Because of the pending brace rules with the ATF, most companies are no longer selling braced pistol configurations. You could get a 105 with a stock and a pinned and welded booster, making it effectively a full length rifle, but the more traditional 105 will only be sold without a stock until / unless things change. Mine was purchased over a year ago before these new rules were introduced. Good luck!

Not sure if this has already been asked, but how did the Zenitco furniture fitment go? Pretty plug and play for most AK-105 stuff or did it take some modifying?
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. I actually talk about this during the outro section a bit because I did anticipate people asking. Every piece required some level of modification on the PSA - nothing was plug and play. This is different from my KP9 and my friend's Arsenal SLR-104UR, both of which were very much plug and play. Did you have to loctite the fuck out of the screw that keeps the rk-1, or rk-0 grip from coming loose I had to use a fuck ton of red loctite and fuck ton of blue loctite on the pic rail screws. Mine never came loose again. I've been tempted to get a psak 105 or 104 and adding a fake suppressor and tack welding it on it, and getting some more Zenitco furniture off reddit, or secondary market probably b10u and b-19 upper and b9ak gooseneck and klesch 2d gen 3 so I have second one on hand, and then put my sport 1 on ak 104 or 105 if I ever get one because of the pistol brace ban, just gonna do pin and weld fake suppressor on it.
@ChestersHobbies Жыл бұрын
If I recall correctly I did use some loctite on mine. Somewhat of an odd design, I didn't even realize that screw was there the first time and was confused when it felt loose after the initial install. The fake suppressor solution could be fun. I'm not sure if they still have it but they used to offer 104s and 105s with a pinned and welded extended booster device so it was a rifle that would ship with a stock. Not a bad solution either. Good luck and enjoy, and thanks for watching!

Hey bud do u no if the factory 105 from psa that comes with the railed dustcovers. Are they hinged?
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Good question. I have an AK-V from early 2020 and my buddy got an AK-P at the same time. They both have railed and hinged dust covers. However that was two years ago, so it's very possible that PSA has changed in that time. My official answer is gonna have to be a "Maybe" on this one! Sorry I can't give a definitive answer. Good luck!
@BloPsy_Actual2 жыл бұрын
From the photos on their site, it's not hinged like the Vityaz or AK-200 series. They are using the same system as the TWS dogleg railed receiver cover - the front part is mounted in the place of rear sight so it can hinge up. It's not a TWS one tho, don't know if they make it in house or if it's some third party product.
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Good eye. Yeah some of the new ones also seem to have a rear peep sight on the back of the dust cover which my AK-V does not have, so I do think it's a newer design of theirs and mag very well not have a hinge.

are PSA AKs worth it? I was thinking about them versus other brands but I love the price
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
So it really depends on what you want it for I think. If you want it for any serious use or for collector's purposes, I prefer high quality imports. If you're looking for something fun at the range, I think the PSAs are a great bang for the buck and with their lifetime warranty you may end up having to send it back if there are issues but they should be able to get you a great working rifle by the time you're done. And you may not need to - my 105 has been great for 645 rounds so far. The 74 I got did have some light primer strikes but the warranty process has been pretty painless so far. Either way that's good peace of mind that you might not get with other brands. I should be getting it back soon and I'll be sure to post an update video when I do. Good luck and thanks for watching!

You like the 105 or the regular psa ak74 better ?
@ChestersHobbies2 жыл бұрын
Great question and a tough one to answer if you're looking for a recommendation. For me personally, I prefer the balance and handiness of shorter barrels like the 105. I also like shorter barrels because they can still balance fairly well when suppressed. That said I prefer my 105 largely because it's an SBR with a stock and VFG. I like it a lot more in that configuration than I did when it was a pistol. I also like shooting steel up close so shorter barrels decrease velocity and make that a little safer. So for me personally, I prefer the 105. But there are a lot of reasons one might prefer the full size 74 as well. Out of the box it shoots flatter because it's a little heavier and has a muzzle brake instead of a booster (the booster increases recoil and carrier movement whereas the brake reduces recoil). The 74 would also have a stock, versus the 105 pistol I originally purchased. They do make a 105 rifle version, but it has an elongated booster that's pinned and welded and can't be swapped, so it won't shoot as flat as the 74 and is maybe only 1-3 inches shorter. I would only get the rifle version personally if I knew I was going to SBR it, because otherwise it loses function and versatility in my mind, but maybe it would be perfect for others. So not necessarily a clean answer in terms of recommendations, but for me personally, I prefer the 105. Sorry for the long winded answer. Thanks for watching!

@@ChestersHobbies ok the points you just made you made my mind up 105! Because I do have a galil ace 8in 762 and I do suppress and it balances great and I don’t care about losing a little velocity for what I’m using it for (range toy) and would like a little light gun and don’t mind a little extra recoil since I’m not recoil sensitive but I do get weight fatigue a lot easier good call brother I was leaning 105 but your points just re assured plus with the psa105 model I’m looking at as the alg trigger in it too
