I'm under the impression that those in the old testament pre pentacost, where subject to the spirits coming and going, not a full time indwelling, as David often expresses in greatest anguish, and other examples ; so contemplating that if this is so, how does that figure into the feeling distant. Personally I couldn't live another moment without his indwelling, and can't fathom the pain experienced at his leaving.

It's probable that those whom don't see /feel /know, God when in his creation, likely don't know him at all ; 😯. Fortunately I've heard mark proclaim the Majesty and wonder of God when contemplating the size of the universe, so maybe it's just a tune up thing 😜
