My 13 year old grandson passed on into Glory in 2018. He was only 13 but was so wise in the knowledge and the love of Jesus and God. Lane told me that psalms 3 was his favorite psalm and especially verse 3. Thank you for explaining ps 3 so beautifully. Lane was a warrior for Christ! Lane spoke loudly in his quietness! He carried God’s glory so beautifully. I miss him so much but I do know that God is enjoying His son being Home with Him!!! Lane’s last words were, “let me go because Jesus has come to take me Home”. That’s VICTORY!!!!

My grandson passed away at 13. This was Lane’s favorite chapter of all the Bible. Lane always had a smile for everyone. He was a beacon of light and always concerned for everyones salvation. He served his purpose with so much grace and mercy. He was a warrior for Christ here and I am sure he is an Intercessor in heaven. He was my pride and joy as my first grandchild and I am so looking forward to being reunited in heaven. Thank you for the teaching. God bless you.

I too just recently found The Enduring Word Commentary and I am being helped. God is working and your pointing out the scriptures in a way that I understand. I chose this video tonight because I am in such desperation and feel like I just will not be able to handle my situation. My situation is not like the one David was experiencing in Psalms 3 but David’s song can apply to me in my situation. Reading this on my own often seems to just go over my head. I need teaching such as this to understand what I’m reading and how to apply it to my life. Thank you Dr.Guzik

David on the run. Jonah on the run. Quoted by Jonah in his whale of a desperate prayer "Salvation is of the Lord' (aka "Your blessings be upon your people") then the first cliffhangier dangling 'Selah' ends the Psalm - then, wait for it - the music starts for the first time in the Psalms. Queue flutes Psalm 4. Queue strings Psalms 5. An evening, a morning, a new hope, new songs.

QUESTION: Hi Pastor Guzik, I was wondering if you could help me understand a bit more clearly what abiding in Christ means in John 15. My question is this, is abiding in Christ a question of Intimacy cultivated through prayer, scripture reading and obedience or is it a question of salvation? Can a genuine believer at some point not be abiding in Christ and still posses a faith that saves? Jesus tells us to abide in Him and it seems to require something from us. Im working my way through Your Hebrews and Psalms series ! Thank you for all of your hard work. I truly value your teaching.
@caconfer3 жыл бұрын
King David is a clear example of NOT abiding in God with his actions and behavior with Bethsheba while still having God's blessing and grace. When our actions and behaviors mimic Christ, we are abiding. When our heart pursues the heart of God in all we do, we are abiding. When we go our own way, down our own path (such as Jonah and the prodigal son), we are no longer abiding with God/Jesus. A key principle of abiding with God/Jesus is to surrender our will, wishes, selfish desires to Christ so they can be replaced with God's will, wishes, and desires for us.

Good point about God hearing from His holy hill and other things. Good point about 'arise Lord" being back to when the Ark moves. Isn't Psalm 3 also a big contrast of hope in another way? God declares the Son his only begotten in Psalm 2 'blessed are all those who take refuge in Him'. Then, in contrast, in Psalm 3 David is running from his son. Salvation here and not yet. This is the first lament in Psalms. Breaking the teeth could also refer to the demise of the spokesperson couselor of Ansolom, Ahithophel who died.

Hi David, thank you for this exposition of Psalm 3. I have looked at this Psalm previously and have been told that Psalm 3 and 4 are Morning and evening Psalms. In Psalm 3:5 the Psalmist wakes up, and in Psalm 4 the Psalmist lays down to sleep 4:8. One more thing, the word salvation in Hebrew is Yeshua. It is NOT Jesus. the word Yeshua means salvation. The name Jesus is a transliteration and has no meaning whatsoever.

This is so good. ? Is being upset when a supposed Christian sister or brother in one's "church family" behaves disrespectfully (dissy, superior, rudely. Ignoring requests for an answer) toward others, seemingly not 'getting it' that they are being hurtful ... is feeling upset/offended and sad, even depressed ... being "self seeking"? I do not fully know what youre thinking by "self seeking." (At age 78, Ive not had nerve to confront these people (a couple of 'do-ers' yet in a superior, dissy way). These ladies are off-putting and not really good examples for others, esp new members (the attitudes are 'catching' ... the result is a cool, less-than-loving atmosphere ... like what one sweet servant now in Heaven called it..."a social club"...cliquey...friendly at first but then cliquey. I was 'spoiled' by a super-loving pastir's wife and another friend...both now far away.. and have become depressed. We have a new pastor, youngish, but says "Im not a counsellor." The former one played favorites and unwisely 'covered up' some sins ... which backfired ... and left deacons unable to shepherd and counsel either. I took my name from membership to help a former youth pastor with his new church, but now have no car so am back having to attend the old one ... my kids and grands go there (i dont talk down the church to my grands). I refuse to let the dissers keep me in the old debilitating depression but I sure wish i knew the words to confront them with ... so far im avoiding them and making extra effort to be encouraging and loving and extra-communicative toward elderly and children. (I grieve over harsh parents) Their kids grow up and shy away from churchgoing!
@DavidGuzikEnduringWord8 ай бұрын
You shared a lot here. 🙂 We should be grieved and even angry at ungodly behavior in the church, but we need to remember to pray for those people and to not try to correct it in the power of the flesh or in anger. The anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.(James 1:20) It sound like the church is blessed to have you there, as you are bringing salt and light, grace and truth. Pray for your leaders, serve as best you can, and bring the presence of Jesus to the church as much as you can. People will recognize the aroma/fragrance of Christ, and they will be drawn to it. May God bless you and lead you.
