Hire him away from Wash. I keep hearing OU is BROKE, and can't afford Vegetables buyout, much less pay the fee for the new coach ans whatever assistants they bring over. I never understood why coaches don't go for 2 when scoring a touchdown that puts them up by 7 prior to the PAT. If you go for it and succeed, it automatically puts your team up by two scores, which will turn your opponent into a one-dimensional team, especially if it's late in the game. If you go for it and don't make it, don't worry, you're still up by 7 and a touchdown doesn't win it. I feel like teams would totally buy into the idea of going for the jugular in situations like that. If you kick the extra point, it's not like it changes that much about the other team's approach - they're still going to play for the touchdown, so why not give your guys a chance to put the game out of reach?

@@longway2pro I think that’s an interesting idea. A 7 point lead vs an 8 point lead is a significant difference though. You force the other team to both score a touchdown and convert a 2 point play. You essentially force them to score twice. If you fail at the 2 point try yourself, then the other team only has to kick the extra point. Or they have he option of trying to win the game with a 2 point try of their own. That’s the play I’d like to see more often. One play to win or lose the game.

@gregrowe1168 I get your point, but if you think about the risk/reward, going up by two scores is huge if you have under five minutes left. If you're only up by seven, you still have to prevent a touchdown from happening, and 2 point conversions have a not insignificant chance of success, especially with offenses in the NFL of the caliber of Detroit, Kansas City, Green Bay, Philadelphia, etc. If you have a chance to take a team out of the game without risking too much, coaches should definitely go for two more to make it a 9-point game.

As long as the two point conversion is less than a 50-50 proposition, better for the other team to do it than you
@longway2pro2 күн бұрын
@@muskyoxes that's conventional thinking, but I don't think it's the smartest thinking. Because a) you'd be making the decision to go for 2 to potentially be up by 9 only after you've scored a touchdown, and b) the opponent still hasn't scored a touchdown YET. A bird in hand is worth two in the bush as they say, because there's not even a guarantee that the other team will even score a touchdown. The reward FAR outways the risk to go up by 9 intstead of going up by 8.
@muskyoxes2 күн бұрын
@@longway2pro The decision is based on the other team getting a touchdown. If they don't, you win even if you try a zero point conversion

Lol your an idiot dude. They would've done the same thing if they would've stayed in the big 12. Because you can't win when you can't score. That's not an sec thing that's just bad offense genius

“Wild ending” is a weird way to say Oklahoma lost a football game because they are the most mediocre team in the SEC

I'm not sure why Coach Venables blew this game with a giant gift of a lead in the last two minutes. Why didn't his defense stop Missouri with under 2 minutes?

It’s amazing how teams can’t do anything the whole game, and then all of a sudden, all this scoring and action happens 🤷 just like the NFL

11 yard for Robinson, 8 1/2 yards for Robinson, Robinson picks up for 1st down, Robinson 3rd and 6, but gets 7. Robinson for another 12. Every play was pretty much Robinson, minus the Jackson Arnold reception. Missouri can’t stop him. Score is tied. Robinson gets 5. You try to grind it at them again. Why even have a pass play? Missouri easily knocks it out as Jackson has had 8 turnovers in last two games.

I never saw the "holding" call on the defense. I think it is a BS call designed to keep mizzou in the game.
