I’ve gone to see a therapist for the first time after expanding my mind with mushrooms. It wasn’t because I was going crazy though. It’s because the mushrooms broke down all of these constructs my culture had instilled in me and now I have to re learn who I am and what gives my life meaning. Feeling like you need to go to therapy or that your well being has gone down slightly isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s like the son of a slave owner suddenly realizing they’re racist and having to change their entire life because of it. They may have been happier/more comfortable before, but if they can work through the hard stuff they’ll be better off in the long run, not to mention the society they contribute to. Mushrooms should be respected. Needing therapy shouldn’t necessarily be seen as a con.

My constructs broke down so fast within a year that I thought I NEEDED therapy. It was literally like when Neo from the matrix woke up to what is and exactly who he is, and almost fried every atom in his body. Yeah somehow I got control over a period of months, and now I feel as free as a bird. Lol.

That’s right. There are people who can’t just simply let go and face their fears. You can not over come if you do not face them. The mushrooms help motivate me to be happier and healthier. I go to the gym three times a week and have been consistent for about a month and a half. Some of my harder relationships are better now. It flipped the self doubt switch off in mind my and has allowed me to step out of my comfort zone with no fear.

I was able to achieve a thoughtless mind through meditation, beginner's luck. This was before experimenting with mushrooms, I started with Zen Buddhism, I achieved a healthy separation between me and my mind, the mind is a tool at times a vehicle at times. I found no use or wisdom for my life with a thoughtless mind, aside from separating myself a tiny bit from my mind. This has helped me control thoughts I visualize what I want out of the universe. I'm now experimenting with shrooms. The first feeling is the lowering the activity of out default operating mode, which is like a cognitive mold, the rest of the activity in the brain is heightened and regions of the brain that normally don't interface with each other start to connect increasesing "MY" neuroplasticity. If you were looking to party with the sacred secrets of nature... that's on you. To enjoy shrooms one must be conditioned to venture in the deep recesses of the mind, Zen Buddhism helped me understand what the mushrooms are for.

With alcohol, controlling dosage is easier though. After you've had a shot of vodka, within three minutes or so you can be pretty clear on how much drunker it made you and whether or not another shot would be too strong for comfort. One of the difficulties with mushrooms is that it takes a while to kick in and you can't really be nearly as sure when it has or hasn't peaked. If vodka tasted like water, maybe alcohol would be comparable in this way.

I took one gram and then another about an hour later. For me, it induced a pleasant experience, but I will say that my sense of self and the sensation of what I can only describe as the unreality or lack of feeling the realness of the world, and of my body, was kind of shocking; the barrier between self and not-self feels less distinct than when sober. I can definitely see how an extremely high dose (not for the visuals, but for the ego dissolution and the dream-like waking state) could potentially be fear inducing. For that reason I would recommend trying a smaller dose first and only gradually increasing it each time. Unlike alcohol, which you feel pretty soon after, with mushrooms you can't exactly see immediately after swallowing what exactly the effect of the dose is (in the same way that you might be able to with a vodka shot), and it's therefore harder to adjust accordingly in real time. Next time I don't plan to have three grams, but to take the two like before, just at once rather than with some time in-between. A friend of mine has said that he usually takes four or five. If you plan to do that at some point, try a lower dose first and get used to the effect of it before increasing.

There's a huge difference between even two and three grams. Five is unnecessary if you are NOT totally experienced and have a good few experiences under your belt. Two grams at one time of psilocybe cubensis is usually sufficient for a mildly intense experience for alot of people. Five grams of DRIED cubensis is full on/the "ultimate" effect of the drug, showing it's full potential basically. Not to say people haven't taken 10-20-30 gram doses either but at the five gram level it's way more than most people need to be fucking with unless they prepare properly.

What I see from your comment is that at first , you didn't care about others and felt very good with yourself and didn't care about others opinion , and then the shrooms gave you this thought of being bullied and being looked at to overcome it and face it , because that can symbolise that you care way to much about what others think of you (being extroverted and not knowing how to manage it so you often compare or look at others rather than yourself ) I hope I was being helpful , if that resonated with you it just might be the problem.

How do you know if you have schizophrenia in your family if you yourself don’t know of any living family members wit it and you have not noticed any signs of it beforehand? I took LSD once and it was a great experience, but the second time was horrible and scary because of the setting I was in (There were a bunch of people I didn’t know at a party). The second trip was so bad that even after the trip was over I felt like things weren’t normal and I could here loud bangs or cracking noises in my head before I went to sleep. I didn’t feel like myself. Overtime I just came to some obscure realization that only made sense to me and nobody else and I’ve been normal ever since. It's all in how you use them and how you see them. If you treat them with disrespect then prepare for a wild ride. If you approach them with no idea of what you are getting yourself into then you may luck out or you may get the bad trip that you deserve for being impulsive. If they bring on some kind of a latent condition it isn't because they caused it. It's a problem that you will have to face eventually anyway, the mushrooms will just make you aware of it's presence. Do not think even for a second that you can abuse them or control the experience no matter how many times you've done them. They have a way of brutally punishing the advanced games that your ego will play if it is a sticky sort of persona. Of all the bad things that I can think of that make people afraid of mushrooms I can't think of a single one that is not at it's root catalyzed by individual choices. I suppose the only exception would be if you were dosed against your will but I've actually never heard of that happening.

And you talk like this chemical knows how you're treating it. It is a chemical in a plant that your body breaks down and if you're a gullible individual you will believe the whole ego destruction and I was sitting in God's palm and all of this other crap. You would not listen to the meth head telling you there's a listening device in your VCR therefore I do not lend any Credence to someone telling me they were picked up by the hair and sit in the palm of God and had a conversation with him. You sound absolutely bananas
@HumanOddity69

@@CSAccetura You seem very threatened by what I've had to say. Why is that? I don't find anything illogical in what I've stated and I never once claimed that I "sat in God's palm" or anything else fantastical or delusional. It is not the chemical that realizes your treatment of it and reacts it's the person. What I gave above is simply sound advice. Have you ever even tried taking them? Can you accept that set and setting are important? If so then why is it a stretch to accept that it is equally important to use something so powerful in a right way in order to prevent your own mind from turning on you? What is known about psilocybin is that it magnifies the sensory experience by up to 14 times meaning that if you jump in with a misguided intention then you will experience magnified consequences up to and including things that can result in PTSD. The other part is also very true, those not pre disposed to mental illness will not simply become mentally ill from a mushroom trip while those with a predisposition are at risk. Life itself already presents a daily risk of triggering such things, at least the mushroom gives the individual a chance to face it while life often relegates such individuals into a place of helplessness, confusion and the perpetual pharmaceutical management of problems that never go away because only the symptoms are ever treated. On another note, comparing something that comes from nature and offers profound mental healing potential to a destructive and pointless lab manufactured substance like meth is so mindbogglingly ignorant that it's disgusting. btw, they are fungi not plants

I'm curious. In my early 20s I took a shit load of X and this forever changed my life for the worse sadly. I instantly became psychotic and for a number of years I struggled with schizophrenia and to this day I still struggle with paranoia and delusional thinking. I have learned how to live with this but desperately would like to right the wrongs created here. I have read that psilocybin and LSD are being used to treat these illnesses but I also read many things that strongly urge people with psychotic issues to stay way from psychedelic drugs... Can anyone give me some enlightenment on the subject?

The only reason I'm even looking into it now is years of chronic migraines and clusters. I also read a recent article that this can help people out tremendously with depression which I also have. @meals24u Do it on a day off. Have a stroll in nature. Try to be as relaxed as possible throughout the day prior to consumption. Eat a big lunch beforehand, then ingest it laced in something sweet like honey. Then it's a good idea to lay on your bed and breathe deeply, even meditate if that's possible. The effects are likely to take place cca one hour later, depending on the person. Then just think about things that matter to you. Some conclusions will be pleasant, some won't.

Or just do like Stamets, eat the bag!? Lol jk not gonna eat the bag.. I have the outmost respect for them and I do want to be well prepared, relaxed, not anxious, no problems or drama, etc. I want it simply for healing purposes of ME/CFS that caused me to lose my business and sitting home for a year now, not working. @@meals24u Honestly, doing a micro dose first would be a good idea. It might be nice if you could do so on a busy day, even if you're only doing chores, just do get the feel for the difference between psy and normal life. It won't be an impairment. Just don't drive of course. If you're not in a hurry you could even try a 0.1g dose on the first day just to get the taste of it, then try a 0.5g "semi" dose on the second to get comfortable with having some impairment of your motor function. Unless you're really susceptible, you won't have any introspection because of it. But after that, a normal 2g dose won't feel as intimidating. That's probably for the best. You wouldn't want the fear of shrooms from distracting you. Really, just chill out while you're taking macro doses and all will be fine. Most people get into problems from either a)Having a seriously bad reaction from a really nasty memory and harming themselves in the process instead of hugging the pillow for an hour, or b)Interacting "with the bad stuff" in the world like watching TV, especially the violent or anxious stuff. Remember, being on psy is a state of extreme suggestibility. You are literally growing new neurons. Memories, concepts, thoughts, fears will be something you can interact with. If you approach them with an open mind and without being a dick to yourself, you'll deal with anything.

It completely ruined the normal natural weed for me, 9 years later and weed is still not the same anymore, i think it will never be.. I used to smoke outside and i was an extrovert, i was laughing like crazy and having good vibes and trips.. But now i cannot smoke with other people because of anxiety and bad thoughts, i don't laugh anymore while high, the best i can do is smile and say ''heh''.. I am forced to smoke alone so i can have a decent high, and even then i have dark thoughts.. Eventually these dark thoughts became present even when i'm sober and now i'm full of mental issues for 9 years.. Everything because of fake weed.. My theory is that the synthetic THC permanently damaged/changed my cannabinoid receptors in my brain, and now the real THC cannot connect properly anymore.. I've tried everything, i tried taking breaks, changing my set and setting, smoking with the best friends and in the best mood.. But now weed always puts me down, and it's such a shame.. I still smoke weed and i love it, but it lost that ''spark'' and i simply cannot smoke with other people

I took 2.5 grams on thanksgiving night with a few friends after my family dinner (I've been messing with psychs like acid and shrooms for a bit, one night I totaled 8 tabs in one night). Before this, I've been pretty mentally sound despite the depression I faced through highschool, but that's really it. Anyway the first half the the trip was fine and I had a lot of fun, but then one of my friends decided we should watch a show called dexter. I'd seen it so I was alright with the switch as I'd previously enjoyed it. The show disturbed me to the point where my whole body went hot and it began to send me into a bad trip. From there I tried to sleep the rest of the shrooms off while they co tuned watching. Since then I haven't quite felt right and I've been getting really bad instrusive thoughts about hurting people and when I get them I get severe anxiety and my body tenses up as well as the heat spells that come back. I would never act on any of these thoughts and for the most part I try to ignore them but they pop up a lot and are persistent. I also feel as though I cant really feel like I can connect to people as well, even my own family. I'm going to start getting therapy very soon and hopefully that'll make managing easier, but the last few days have been mental hell for me. I can't even enjoy some music without getting the thoughts and visuals. Bottom line I'm completely done with psychs personally. I feel as though I've overdone it and done irreversible damage to my mind and my psyche.

Your brain isn't damaged. You've simply fallen down the proverbial rabbit hole and don't know how to get out. Welcome to the club. Only those of us who have also fallen understand your suffering. Listen up, because I'm about to give you pearls. What you have described are the classic symptoms of an anxiety disorder. That disconnection you mentioned is called depersonalization. The dark thoughts, tension, heat spells, 100% normal. Most of all they're HARMLESS. I know it doesn't feel like it. It feels like terror. It feels like torture. It's as simple as this, your fight or flight mechanism is out of whack. It has exhausted and sensitized your nervous system. Your brain thinks you're experiencing danger almost every second of the day. It's flooding you with the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Your brain is just trying to protect you. It doesn't understand there is no danger. YOU have to teach it otherwise. You do that by reconditioning your thinking. You do it by not fighting (resisting), by accepting every Godawful thought, feeling and physical symptom that comes along. Keep reading and I'll show you where to begin. Lots of things can trigger an anxiety disorder, including the abuse of drugs (check out journalist Dan Harris' story.), so don't be too hard on yourself. I developed an anxiety disorder after gaining a lot of weight. I was eating absolute shit, and I couldn't seem to stop. I became more and more worried I was killing myself. Then one night I had my very first panic attack. I thought I was having a heart attack or a stroke. I ended up in two different ERs and two different doctor's offices...in 24 hours. I was in for months of hell. Here's what saved me, Dr. Claire Weekes. Seek out her work. She has several books and recordings. Many of her recordings can be found right here on KZbin. Honestly, when I first listened to one of her recordings it was like she was reaching out through space and time, speaking directly to me. She will shock you with her understanding. It becomes obvious quickly that she too once suffered. Dr. Weekes has been gone 30 years now but she was a pioneer in "nervous illness". Her CBT techniques are now the standard treatment for anxiety disorders. Someone else who can help you is a guy who goes by the handle Wonderbro. He's here on KZbin. He's a follower of Dr. Weekes teachings, but he has a no-nonsense way of articulating what is happening to you, why, and how to heal. Good luck. It's rough. It takes a lot of hard work and patience, but if you follow their instructions you will be cured.

The guy studies it himself, he is therefore a part of changing the stigma towards psychedelics and it is good that he isn't biased and say "YEAH MAN TRIPPIN' IS DOPE, JUST BE SAFE AND YOU CAN TRIP EVERY WEEK WITH NO PROBLEMS, PSYCHEDELICS ARE HARMLESS TOOLS". I experience long lasting effects from psychedelic usage, such as visual snow, eye floaters, decreased night vision and after images. With shrooms, I have experienced surreal moments of beauty and life changing insight about my purpose and sense of value. However, I have also experienced (albeit brief) feelings of uncontrollable anxiety, panic, and textbook symptoms of psychosis. If stuck in a bad trip it is easy to see how these moments can be just as terrible and detrimental as the beautiful and enlightened ones.

Unfortunately in Georgia even possession of the spores is a felony. I am a law abiding person who has suffered from treatment-resistant severe depression for 50 years. I have suffered enough. The deterioration of my country since the illegal installation of the JoeBama admin and the absolute disregard for the Constitution in an apparent attempt to destroy America has greatly deepened my depression. I am also sufferiing for 8 months from severe consequences from COVID infection. My right for my vote to count has already been taken away as evidenced in the fraudulent 2020 election. So becoming a convicted felon in an effort to seek relief means little in that respect. I am desperate for relief. I desire mercy, not sacrifice

Seems to me he has nothing good to say about something most people are greatly helped by. Which means he’s also not reporting “both sides”. It’s just fear mongering. This is the kind of person who get’s herbal remedies turned into controlled substances (that none of us can afford any longer) because “science”.

Huh! Everything this guy said bad about Psilocybin is just the opposite of every other video I've watched. The VA is using Psilocybin to treat PTSD. Other studies have claimed that Psilocybin has cured 90% of depression patients. I wonder why this guy is at odds with everyone else.

Some people react differently. He’s bringing up the dark side that no one likes to talk about. Especially with mental illness being mixed in. Yes a lot of people Can benefit from mirror dosing but there is still a percentage that will have negative impact that could be life changing.

I’ve taken several grams of shrooms and tripped many times, this dude does not know what he’s talking about, I feel great during the trip like laughing like I feel I’m going to die from laughing so much, colors are everywhere, the ceiling starts moving and realizing I am more conscious than I have ever been. People like this are just trying to keep it illegal when it’s natural.

Ok considering I just had my first bad trip last Friday here's what I can say about shrooms. They need to be respected like anything else. Don't make the mistake of thinking you need more just because the first trip didn't give you anything but a body high. Don't take shrooms to get fucked up (I knew this one but took the same amount of shrooms as if I was) A lot of what he said weren't LONG term effects, just about what can happen if you take too much or mix substances. Ultimately shrooms can be enjoyed in small doses. If you happen to try the chocolate bars from good trip FOLLOW THE FUCKIN INSTRUCTIONS FOR GODS SAKE 😂

Society is the real danger, not psychedelics who have been used for thousands and thousands of years. Depression, anxiety, etc are deceases of modern culture and lifestyle and were/are foreign to indigenous people. I guess because they know/experience/accept that death is life. Also that there is no reason to be afraid of anything, only when real danger is in front of you, and they have no ego driven way of life, like people do now

Your anecdotes aside, the complex reaction of psilocybin on the brain (and our brains are extremely complex and varied among individuals) can certainly have negative effects. This guy is not the enemy of mushrooms; he is an advocate for psychological treatment through psychotropics
