Күн бұрын

Psilocybin mushrooms have been used for millennia by several cultures from Europe to Mesoamerica. More than 116 species have been identified thus far in the genus Psilocybe alone. New scientific evidence is pointing to the fact that, not only can they be psycho-spiritually transformative, but they are capable of stimulating neurogenesis, i.e. the growth of nervous system tissue.
These recent discoveries show psilocybin’s potential for helping address such conditions as depression and anxiety, but perhaps as well to help prevent dementia, Alzheimer’s and other neuropathies. In fact, they may increase intelligence. But these exciting new findings have generated a rush of investors seeking to corner medicalized psilocybin, which raises the question: Should psilocybin mushrooms come to market as People’s Medicine or Profit Medicine?
Paul Stamets, one of the world’s leading authors, inventors, educators and entrepreneurs in the field of mycology, and very possibly the planet’s foremost expert on psilocybin mushrooms, shares his thoughts on the latest research and the rapidly evolving landscape of psychedelic medicine.
Paul Stamets delivered this talk at the 2020 Bioneers Conference, introduced by Kenny Ausubel. Watch more conference videos at bioneers.org/2020talks/
Paul Stamets, speaker, author, award-winning mycologist, medical researcher, groundbreaking mycological entrepreneur, and a visionary thought leader in the study of fungi and their uses in promoting human health, ecological restoration, and detoxification of the environment, is the author of six books, including: "Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save The World," "Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms," and "Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World." Paul has discovered and named numerous new species of psilocybin mushrooms and is the founder and owner of Fungi Perfecti, LLC, makers of the Host Defense Mushrooms supplement line. And Paul’s work has now entered mainstream popular culture. The new Star Trek: Discovery series features a Lt. Paul Stamets, Science Officer and Astromycologist(!).

@Evan Laughlin there's no logic for psylocybin to be illegal, look at the studies done with the compound at University College London. He's doing the right thing by promoting it, so the word gets out to the world exponentially and the beurocrats can finally stop shitting their panties and allow research to be done without having an audit every 2 hours.

I have ptsd and MDD, I have childhood trauma, and I have struggled since childhood with depression and SI. I microdosed for the first time and it wasn’t what I expected, in the very best way. I didn’t hallucinate and I didn’t feel “high.” I felt the most “normal” I had felt in years, if ever. It brought me to tears. It was the first night I didn’t struggle with the black cloud that lingers regardless of what I have tried... We have so ignorantly ignored the most vital creation in our existence.

Not necessary. A dickhead stays a dickhead. I believe in psilocibin therapeutic effects but it can also be a super way to escape reality and therefore make you more miserable. If you know that nothing from outside can bring you redemption then you might try mushrooms in a sacred "special" self reflection time. Once again it is not a shortcut but it can definitely help for healing cptsd if you do it for that purpose and already know how to navigate. Opening certain parts of your psyche can be dangerous

This man is literally changing the world. I’m bipolar type 1 and I struggle pretty heavy with it. I am medicated and I take my medication, but even so, sometimes it isn’t enough. I’ve experimented with microdosing psilocybin recently and I have been having profound results. Consistently, I have been able to identify signs of coming episodes, something I haven’t been able to previously do despite therapy and medication, and plan accordingly. I can go on and on, but long story short, my life has completely changed for the better. I’ve decided to stop smoking since starting microdosing and have been smoke free for a solid 4 months now, without any desire for it. I’m back to working out, taking better care of myself, and finding enjoyment in life I’ve never had before. This man is a treasure and I cannot emphasize how much his research has helped me.

Shoot, now I forget if it was BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER that is basically your therapist calling you an AHOLE in professional language or if it was the Bipolar...well I put this here IN CASE I faffed that up...as ACCURACY IS SUPER IMPORTANT AT TIMES< and I would like to be as clear as possible...so take my above comment with a GRAIN OF SALT perhaps as it could be 50% / 50% it's one of the two, and my brain at this point in time fails to be able to remember exactly which one it was...yet all the rest of the stuff up there should hold okish! I try to be clear, as best I can!
@alal792

Yeah, pretty sure it's borderline, almost guaranteed...that's why I even looked it up a bit, because I wanted to be more sure...so seems like your therapist MAY be ok with ya, ha...sorry. Yet still if you PREFER another diagnosis, take a whirl at it, you will see I am accurate in stating how varied their guesses can be...after all YOU ARE A PERSON< and many of them just treat you like a diagnosis!

@@madshorn5826, the death toll of profit medicine is significantly higher than the alternative that you suggest. Naivety is an odourless substance, you need to use your nous to spot it. But the mycelia network that provided the result of the “over night fungal fruits” would have been hard at work for several months beforehand. This man has given me hope in my life going forward. I finally can see a way out and how to live again. As someone who is quite science minded I had doubts about psychedelics and taking them because of the direction I’ve seen other people go with ‘spirituality’. His expectations of what we really expectance and why has made me decide to take the leap. Hopefully my life changes for the better in a few weeks. I’m ready.

Need some advice. I have had issues with PTSD and panic attacks, I have had a head CT which has shown deep white matter lesions. I have been having issues with being a father to my beautiful sons, having dizziness, bad thoughts and searching for anything that can help get me in the right track back to normalcy. So I started searching for magic mushrooms. A buddy of mine told me his friend grew them and he would get me some. So yesterday I was given not mushrooms but a baggy of capsules which I really didn’t like and he explained they are mixed with vitamins that will make them work better. His words. Skeptical I took one capsule. Which he said was approximately .1 Anyhow After about an hour I had a panic attack hit me. Racing heart beat, tingling all over my body. Luckily I have meditated and figured out how to calm myself down. I didn’t ever feel terrible but I didn’t feel good either. I at some time felt energetic but scared. I tried to look inward etc. this morning I feel kind of fuzzy almost hung over not clear minded at all. Is this normal? I’m looking for any recommendations I can get.

I'm really glad that mushrooms have had a positive outcome in your life. You take the next step when you deem yourself ready to do so and not beforehand! Some here question what it is that mushrooms do for you and what they don't seem to understand is that the experience is different for everyone, every time you consume them. The veterans that I work with here in Colorado have had very positive outcomes in their use of mushrooms in dealing with their PTSD's. So for anyone questioning the effects of mushrooms on anybody, all I can tell you is to try it for yourself. Be sure to have a close friend who is not tripping be present to help you be safe and then form your own opinion.

Be carefull. Natural does not mean, non toxic. A lot of people think...What is natural never harms. But if you study nature, you will change your mind. Nature is fascinating. Nature cures. this man is a genius! I was fortunate enough to have grown up in south Florida around cow pastures back in 1973. I had no idea until I skipped my high school graduation and went with buddy by van with our dirt bikes to Gainesville, mushroom mecca at the time. That is when I found out its the same mushroom that is all over where I ride my bikes back in Deerfield beach lol. I know the benefits that Paul talks about and more. I believe it gave my brain a kick in the ass to want to learn everything this being one. I was a troubled kid in trouble all the time, terrible in school. had my 3 year love affair with mushrooms I always missed. I went on to a wonderful career in aviation flight test and much more I know I owe to those years! Now I am retired disabled vet and my memory is not so hot and depression can be a monster to anyone. Because I knew what it did for me is how I wound up finding this site. After fantastic fungi I was convinced I can get it myself. thanks so much

A bunch of bad thought/ behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands alot. It gave me a lot of hope that things would be fine, this is the one thing I heard throughout the trip : Everything is alright.The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me.
