The ADC connector is as you said a combination of power, usb and DVI. These can all be separated out of the cable. If you look up the pinout for the ADC connector, you can quite easily solder your own cable terminating in dvi. This will make this iconic monitor able to be connected to any modern pc.
@MSNWindows7 Жыл бұрын
This is mostly true, but for anyone looking to do this, there are some caveats with this. You'll need an ADC equipped Mac to "boot" the display. And this will not work with the DVI to ADC adapter that Apple sold, as this display needs the analog pins of a DVI connector (as this display is technically VGA), which the DVI to ADC adapter lacks.

$499 was expensive for a CRT at the time. A top Iliyama monitor cost $199.
@AiOinc15 жыл бұрын
2:52 there is NO inherent danger in disassembling a CRT. Once the display is disconnected there is no high voltage generation anymore. The CRT can only act as a capacitor when in circuit. Touching it's anode will do absolutely nothing once it's unplugged, especially such a late model unit. Theres a high value bleeder resistor built in to discharge it before you even get the first screw out. Even with the unit on, taking the anode cap off and holding it in one hand while grounded will only serve to damage the driving electronics. It's extremely high voltage high frequency, which means it can supply no current at all. As soon as you touch it the voltage will drop significantly and the driving transistor(s) will begin to struggle under the load. It'd be the equivalent to touching a 9 volt battery. 4:19 All CRT monitors from this era could self adjust and calibrate, but it looks like yours is doing it wrong anyways. The picture is tilted to one side in every shot. $499 is a lot for a CRT monitor, even in 2000. LCDs were gaining traction rapidly and even the best CRTs failed to meet the image quality of a cheap LCD of the time. Less than a year later you could get an equivalent Dell or ViewSonic monitor for around $299, and those had on screen menus and automatic setup, supported many more resolutions through a more common connection, and some had internal USB hubs as well. Just like everything else, this monitor was about selling a brand name.
