Judging from early feedback, seems the guide's tempo was too fast on this one. I edit stuff around the music, so I'll try and find a calmer groove for the next guide! Also, plenty of typos and wrong icons throughout the video. Dang. I'll review on it for next time. Now, the nuances I excluded from the video (will be updated as time goes on): - *Nachtangriff* Less of an extended explanation and more of a correction: Nachtangriff is actually Rifle's go-to DPS against stationary enemies if you space it out properly. I didn't include it in the video not due to simplification, but due to negligence. There goes my Ph Rifle main credentials... Sorry everyone :c - *Phantom's ludicrous i-frames* Phantom, alongside the standard successor/scion class extended dodge, also has access to i-frames during weapon action and guard frames when you release a charged weapon action. In addition to that, Phantom also gets _1 FULL SECOND of invincibility_ when charging a technique. It works with any weapon, so you can cast Resta in a pinch with Ph Rifle or Katana for some relief. Speaking of which... - *Phantom weapon viability* Phantom's weapon balancing is pretty lopsided, with the community consensus being Rod > Rifle > Katana in overall viability. Rod has the most potential DPS (assuming decently crafted Techs), PP efficiency (assuming you land your followups), and increased versatility considering your main way of attacking gives you invincibility frames. Rifle doesn't do as much damage with its PAs as Rod does with Techs, but the speed at which it builds Markers and Phantom Time offsets that somewhat. Katana has solid damage, but its moves might prove awkward to learn, its PP efficiency is tied with Hero sword for the lowest in-game, and it builds Markers at the slowest rate out of the three. No one's stopping you from living your Vergil fantasies (because you can still do good damage if you're good enough), but know that it's a treacherous path... and that Katana Braver exists if you're looking for something friendlier. Buuut maybe you're not in the market for a friendly edgelord class, and if so, more power to you! - *Gespenst* From the outside, Phantom might seem a bit on the squishy side. As a subclass, it definitely is (if compared to Hunter sub); as a main class, its lv. 85 passive Gespenst kicks in when you have less than 50% hp, reducing the damage you take by 80% for 3 seconds with a 30 second cooldown between each activation. The skill comes in surprisingly handy if you happen to be caught off guard during, say, Masquerade's tentacle grab. - *Jellen* Part of Phantom's skill tree deals with inflicting Jellen. With full points in Jellen Attack, you'd get a 5% chance to inflict Jellen with every instance of damage you do on an enemy, which goes up to 50% per hit if Phantom Time is on. This is pretty important since a) Marker build rate is increased when attacking enemies afflicted with Jellen, and b) Phrase Decay exists, which is an affix/augment that gives you an extra 5% damage when attacking Jellenified enemies (which is huge in terms of % bonuses; even most SSAs have smaller multipliers or have specific conditions to reach that amount). - *On using Rifle normals* While PA -> PA -> 3rd normal is a solid combo, the normals themselves are a bit risky to use against aggressive enemies since they can't be canceled during their startup animations. That's when you'd switch over to using the step/dodge normal, since you'd be doing more damage than 1st and 2nd normal while still being able to stay mobile. - *Lord of Thorn* You might come across this skill name in a couple discussions. Basically, what it does is trade off Marker build speed for detonation damage. While it sounds good on paper, purple markers already deal a good amount of damage; nerfing its build speed could instead lead to less Markers being detonated and, overall, less damage. The JP PSO2 Swiki recommends only 1 point in LoT for efficiency, while Enfonius in the advanced guide recommends up to 3 at most with some calculations and maximum Jellen chances. I prefer to just run without it. - *Blue markers & mobbing* Speaking of markers, sometimes you might find your PP running dry when you're fighting trash mobs with no aggressive boss attacks to dodge through. In mobbing scenarios like these, popping Lv.1 blue markers on enemies can alleviate the issue a bit. They won't do as much damage or restore as much PP as purple markers, but if you're fighting trash mobs then they might not live long enough for you to pop a purple marker in the first place.

I found myself pausing and rewatching clips multiple times to figure out what was going on. Time yourself speaking every caption. Leave the caption on for at least that long, if not more. Some folks are slow readers.

The video was actually great and very informative. I'd rather watch a short video packed with information that I can choose to watch at its pace or my own pace than watching some dude stumbling in their words while trying to explain something they barely understand (happened to me already while looking for videos about the Phantom class) and this comment is like the cherry on top of the cake. I was very curious about the weapon viability of the Phantom because I myself like to be close and personal with the bosses, so I was thinking about going with the Katana. As it is right now I've been playing only Jet Boots Bouncer and I've been loving it, so I want to level up the Phantom to have it as a Sub-Class, and I might even change to it if I like it, but I want to know if the Phantom Katana's stands a chance against the Bouncer's Jet Boots when it comes to DPS. Overall I feel like the Jet Boots are great but if the boss/mob has too much mobility the Jet Sweep Kick (it's stronger photon art that needs to be charged) will miss at least 50% of the time. What do you think? I'm also somewhat interested in the Rifle but the Rod's definitely not my thing (I play with a controller and I have minimum access to the palettes and changing palettes is kinda awkward, so I like relying mostly on my photon arts, thus Rifle and Katana seem the best options for me)

@vyrde3 жыл бұрын
The stuff is going to be more accessible as time goes by, and even then there are already things you can get relatively easily now. High-PP 13* units are eventually going to come around on Global, and tech crafting isn't too difficult when all you need are PA fragments and a couple of seconds to order a lv.3 craft from the Visiphone.

Motion graphics and editing is legit in the video. Ph Rifle knowledge is a little suspect tho. Particularly with the information on Nachtangriff. Nacht is Ph Rifle's best DPS option for single targets. It's harder to land and requires proper positioning since you want the bit to hit as well as the detonation, but step attack and shift nacht are a great help with getting into the right distance while also providing solid marker gain on top of that. Something I feel is worth noting.
@vyrde3 жыл бұрын
Well shit, this is embarrassing; the point eluded me entirely. I admit that I don't really use Nacht all that often in my rotations due to how slow it is, and I _may_ have skipped out on looking at my notes and doing more research since Ph Rifle was the weapon I used the most... Looks like my Phantom still needs improving. My bad D: That said, thank you for the correction, I'll include it in the nuances!
