Holy shit this guide is well edited! I'm most impress with the damage rotation too. The highlight bars that syncs with the order of the PAs listed while the character is doing the moves in order. It's actually nice touch!

Great guide, dude! short and straight to the point! I notice that I tend to use the normal counter a lot more than step guard on Baran. I just instinctively side dodge or WA dodge in a hurry (or use PA guard frames) and it's hard to get used to forward or backward dodge lol

Through my time with Luster, it feels that the guard frames are ever so slightly longer on Barants than they are on Zandi and Fomel. They're definitely still there though

I'm not entirely sure since Fomel has most of its damage tied to its rotations, but I suppose you can dump three bars of focus into the wep action if you're planning to activate Luster Time (ie treating it as a 3x DPS PA meter burn) and you know the enemy will be sitting still for an extended duration of time.

The only bit that sucks about Luster is some of the bosses that decides to have either a cutscene where you can't hurt them or they retreat to an area where you can't hit them (I'm looking at you Dark Faltz Elder) which causes you to break your voltage. I nearly had a combo of 3000 if Elder didn't back off to do his meteor shower.

the Photon Cluster ring is just perfect attacking a PA _the exact moment_ the red perfect attack circle comes up, you don't have to perform an enhanced PA to activate it.

In addition to the universal 4th normal, the three styles also have specific Swift Shot windows: Fomel after an Enhanced Combo, Zandi after dodging an attack sideways, and Barants after dodging an attack backwards and forwards (aka Step Guarding).

Make sure you have Swift Shot unlocked and are doing Enhanced Combos (ie chaining two Enhanced PAs together so that the second PA skips to the enhanced part, done by pressing the PA again after the animation for the first enhanced PA starts), not just two PAs back to back

Luster looks really fun and I was thinking of jumping back into pso2 global but the difficulty jump from SH to XH was so brutal it felt like you had to sacrifice most offensive ability for defensive unless you shelled out a ton to make the absolutely insane monster equipment that has everything.

Most of my JP teammates run 1.5k HP builds completely fine even in UH (since getting 3-4shot is pretty much the norm), so something like 2k HP is definitely not needed for endgame like some people would have you believe

You don't have to be locked on, but you do need to use the weapon action after an _Enhanced Combo_ (Consuming gear to chain two or three PAs, skipping to the enhanced version of the second PA onwards) instead of just one specific enhanced PA

"Holding [the] button down" means holding down or long-pressing the button you used for that particular move (whether it was for Photon Arts, normal attack, weapon action, or jump). They all function differently or are alterable based on how long you press the button for

I've seen a Flechette > Brand > hollow (all unenhanced) rotation get thrown around for Baran. Is there a large dps difference between that and just enh flechette spam?

Jumped onto Rockbear training for a bit, seems like the damage is slightly less than E.Flechette. Problem is that a) you have unused resources in the form of focus bars, and b) you'll lose PP faster since you're using more PP than E.Flechette since enhancing PAs doesn't consume any extra PP on top of the PA casting cost. tl;dr there's an arguably negligible DPS loss, but you're going to eat through PP a lot faster.

luster is a melee class, so I have to affix my weapon and unit to have melee power instead of range power?

It's a """"melee"""" class in the sense that it scales off of ranged power despite being a close-ranged class (hence the quotation marks). As for the affixes, Luster has a class skill that uses the highest stat on your gunblade (between melee and ranged), so affixing it can depend on which base stat is higher on the gunblade you're using. The final stat is still counted as ranged though, so you'll want to affix ranged power on your units. tl;dr it depends for the weapon, but ranged power for units.
