Thank you for addressing the Lou Reed letter & abuse allegations. And, thank you for how you addressed it. I survived 28yrs of violent physical, sexual, emotional & verbal abuse. The abuser is never the same person with their victim as they are with their friends, family or anyone else. My mom never saw the things my step-father did, and she was under the same roof. After trying to speak up I was shamed for lying & trying to ruin his reputation because it was unfathomable to her that he could do that. Even my ex’s twin sister never once saw him raise his voice, much less his hand. His family saw a completely different person. That is part of the abuse. Making the abused feel like reality is not truth. That what is happening to them isn’t real. Gaslighting. It’s a purposeful mind screw in addition to the larger abuses. Our society has become more familiar with the term & idea of gaslighting, due to Trump. But it’s a key component of abuse. Thank you for respecting the thought that it could be true. I understand it’s hard to fathom someone you know and love doing something you can’t imagine, especially such a painful thing. I hope you are all doing well & staying safe & healthy.
