Shocking that they didn't have the safety features in place. P & T are always vocally adamant about not being complicit in tricks that are really dangerous.

Well, if you listen to the whole story they did have multiple safety features. The first is that he wasn’t supposed to actually be holding his breath, but whatever they use to facilitate his breathing broke during the SNL act since they built the tank on a rushed timeline and this was the first time they used it for a show. Second, there’s a person with a key nearby. Third, there’s a person nearby who can drain the tank on a moment’s notice. Numbers 2 & 3 are dependent upon Teller making a signal he needs to be let out )or presumably if Penn/someone notices he’s in serious trouble they’ll initiate it). It also sounds like in subsequent performances Teller had a latch he could use to get himself out as well, but again that wasn’t in place for SNL due to the deadline.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt here. Maybe he really did think he was natural. There were a few supplements back in that time at Gnc that were spiked with unnatural substances and he may not have known what was in his supplements.

No, it's not Glenn Beck's meltdown that was the problem. It was the almost Alex Jones level ignorance and manipulation in the years leading up to it. (Maybe he's still at it. I don't know, have only ever seen him via The Daily Show and stopped watching that many years ago.)

Huh, strange hearing Penn talk positively about cosmopolitanism considering how in the shows with Teller, he'll regularly perform tricks that have a very patriotic tone. NEVER would've guessed that that's how he thinks... (I agree with what he says here and always cringe when they're doing patriotic stuff in a show.)

Don't know about 'roids but he more than likely injected synthol. He had unnatural bumps on his delts, and there's even photos of him with band-aids over injection sites. Also, natch bodies don't deflate that much without flab.

It never really registered how well Billy does Larry Fine's voice for Stimpy until last week I was watching a documentary on the Three Stooges and I kept hearing Stimpy. It does bother me, tho, that he claims Zapp Brannigan's voice is an original creation and not just him mimicking Phil Hartman's performance
