In this episode I almost finished one side of the Jaguar and I feel happy honestly, it’s the worst side. My lovely wife helped me to weld and honestly she is almost better than me, she impressed me always ❤️.

That’s a very interesting project, sometimes a bit “scary” when you’ll see the work to do ( it’s always like an iceberg 🙄) but everything is possible, just take time to not be discouraged 🫤. And honestly I learned a lot in knowledge and confidence 😎. Good luck. Here’s my email if you want to share : psv1600@me.com

As someone who has recently carried out the exact same repairs on my X300 I can only say ‘well done’. Great panel making with the jacking point reinforcement. If possible use a piece of copper behind the weld will help to prevent blowing through. Keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot for this comment, it’s really making me more “sure” ! I did a lost of mistakes in welding unfortunately, but it was my very first time… just basics before! I did use cooper to weld around the transversal support as I grinded to deep some welding… I don’t dare to show because it was a bit mess 😂.

Another excellent episode. Strangely, watching you is like watching myself - no hair, glasses, same shape head! Even my wife (who cannot weld) was surprised. Difference is though as that your welding is far better than mine. Looking forward to the next episode. I have an S Type that will need future welding so I am interested in how you do it. One lesson I did learn from the Puma was to repair only the rusted part of the outer wheel arch and not the whole of it. It took five attempts to make and fit so that there was no warping. We can all say how we would do things differently next time. Oh, and by the way, definitely buy the Clecos. Money well spent.

Hi Stewart, Thanks a lot again for your kind message, it's very powerful you know... Speaking about the repair of wheel arch, I have differents patches of rust on mine, I decided to fix one by one and not the whole arch as I'm not enough confident to do it completely. The replacement part is really to expensive also. Just hope it will be ok, I think so as I really grinded surrounding until clean steel. The wheel arch is in the next episode, please be patient I'm not yet received my new bottle of gaz to weld ! You're right, I will definitively buy the Clecos, I want to improve in the other side and it will be very helpful. Aside of lack of practice and knoledge, the problem I encounter by welding is the position... The helmet is "bothering" and often i'm not in the good axle to see well with my reading eyeglass, you know that I guess ! And when It's welded beside or wrong, it's too late ...Cheers, Fred

@@psv1600 Hello Fred. Exactly the same issues with the helmet. At first it was set too dark so couldn’t see where the torch was. Turned down the setting made things easier. I also found that I needed an extra bright light. Don’t get concerned about poor looking welding where it will not be seen. As long as there is penetration and the join is strong it should be ok.As you rightly say, use good seam sealer (before etch primer) and all is well.
