It might be helpful to provide a more in-depth, back-to-back comparison. The more you examine the details, the more differences become apparent: One issue I noticed with the PSVR2 is its small sweet spot, which requires me to move my head physically to see dials and instruments. In contrast, with the Quest 3, I can simply glance around using my eyes. This feels much more natural and results in less neck strain. The high-persistence OLED display on the PSVR2 creates motion blur, making everything appear slightly dreamy when looking around. It’s never as smooth as the Quest 3, where motion is more solid. While the colours on the PSVR2 are vibrant, they appear over-saturated, giving everything an almost cartoon-like appearance with no option to adjust them. On the other hand, the colours on the Quest 3 look much more natural, with plenty of customisation available. The PSVR2 controllers are clumsy and difficult to pick up while wearing the headset. The passthrough feature is vastly inferior to the superb passthrough on the Quest 3, where I never need to remove the headset, even for tasks like typing or using a plane’s HOTAS. The image quality on the PSVR2 is also lacking; it feels as though you're looking through a dirty screen, anti-sde screen filter, mura, black spots, only 18ppd vs Quest 3's 25 ppd. Switching to the Quest 3 immediately after is a relief, as the details are crystal clear, and there’s no motion blur. Performance on the PSVR2 is slightly better, but the Quest 3’s ASW allows it to achieve better overall results. The only areas where the PSVR2 clearly excels are in contrast and black levels. In every other aspect, the Quest 3 outperforms it. As a result, the Quest 3 remains my daily driver for MFS, while the PSVR2, along with the PC adapter, is back in its box and ready to be sold.

OK Buddy we need to chat a bit! This video couldn't have come at a better time for me. I'm REALLY SICK of not having my Black/Blacks... and my Crystal has REALLY been pissing me off lately so this video was exactly what I was thinking about. SO, questions for you... IF you were buying an OLED headset, would you recommend the PSVR2 or the Big Screen Beyond? Second... Artur told me that the local dimming on the VR1 is going to be "very close" to OLED (gee where have I heard that before)... so my question to you is, do you think the VR1 is really going to get that close or is it just going to be similar to the Crystal's local dimming. I'm just really disappointed that no company is looking at putting OLED's behind Aspheric Lenses... seems like a no-brainer to me, I know it would be expensive but I'd pay for something like that. Hey Mark. Sorry it's not more in depth, I was very conscious not to spend too much time in VR since I haven't seen this friend for years. You won't like my answer, oddly, the best VR headset for OLED black levels is the XR-4! Crazy isn't it? I prefer it to the BSB, simply because of that damn glare. You'd hate it mate, so don't buy the Beyond. As for the PSVR2, the colours and black levels are awesome, but it lacks the clarity we both love. As for the VR1, I'll have the final version soon...

@@VRFlightSimGuy Thanks for the reply, ya the glare on the BSB is exactly what has kept me from buying one so far, so you are just confirming what I already know in my heart... I guess I just have to hope Artur can work magic with his local dimming... I'm so SICK of my Pimax, I'll never buy another one of those again... just need an alternative that gives me a similar experience. Maybe I should just give up VR and go outside for awhile :)

Heya Mark, as Steve said, if you hate glare, don't go with the BSB. I use a Crystal on my motion rig and the PSVR2 on my gaming notebook together with my second rudder pedals and a cheap joystick in my sitting room (wife friendly 😂). I find flying at night, dusk, or dawn very enjoyable with the PSVR2. I got no glare, but mura. At night it is not much visible, but you can see it when switching on the nav lights in pulsing mode e.g. in the TBM. Sadly it is like Steve said very sensitive regarding head position. So, using it in a motion rig could be annoying maybe. Because if it gets out it's sweetspot, the visuals are getting blurry. Thanks for your Mechwarrior video by the way. Take care. Shark

Pimax needed to send me a new headset and this new one has a bad battery that won't stay charged, the Chromatic Aberration is really bad in the lower 1/3rd of the lenses and I found a stuck pixel on the left panel. It is amazing because my original Crystal looked great but this replacement is garbage. I think the Quality Control over there is lacking and now I understand why some people see crappy visuals in it and others find it the best looking image they have ever seen... I've now had both!

What I hope is that based on how fast the adapters sold out, sony sees that people want VR and they get incentivized to make a PSVR3, because I feel like they could make an absolute unit with some upgrades, the bigger downside is im not sure how they would deal with higher pixel counts on the console, maybe with some upscaling, which does seem to be something Pimax is also working on.

Interesting reading all the comments. Particularly those arguing for their favourite headset. The reality is there is no one best headset for every user. Sadly. Cost, value, resolution, lens type, oled, lcd, local dimming, PC Spec, dynamic foveated rendering, wired or wireless, comfort, build quality, software, glare, sweetspot, fov, glasses wearer, ongoing support, etc etc. So ignore the negative comments. Thank you very much for keep bringing these reviews and trying to bring out the pros and the cons. I currently use Quest 3 for gaming and Reverb G2 for car and flight simming. I can't get on with compression especially in driving sims so the quest won't be used for simming. I also think it's the least comfortable headset I've ever owned. In term of physical comfort and eye strain. Unfortunately, some of my online races are 6+hours so the weight of the Crystal is also off putting and still fairly expensive. But the drop in resolution of the PSVR2 is off putting for flight sims. I need more money so I can have different headsets for different needs😀

PCL is the upgrade for G2/Q3 because you are actually moving from 1080 to 4k resolution. Both the G2 and Q3 have higher pixel density than the PSVR2. The Q3 clearly beat the PSVR2 in the visual clarity department due pancake lenses and much wider sweet spots. People can argue about the compression vs display port until the cow comes home. I personally don't notice any major compression issues with the Link cable or VD. The PSVR2 is a very good display port permanent power OLED headset ONLY if you can get it during sales for $350+ $60 adapter. Unlike Quest 3 you don't need to buy additional accessories like head strip and facial interface to make it usable. The resell value of the PSVR2 is way higher than other headsets due to the PS5 console. And this headset will be totally worth it ONLY if modders can add the eye-tracked foveated rendering to this thing.

PSVR2 uses a Steam driver to work on PC, outside of Steam it might not work as other stores use their own drivers in my own experience.

Have more clare on my pico4, have 100% edge to edge clarity on my psvr2, always stay in sweet spot with a headband mod. Bought psvr2 for playstation, now have great comp glasses for 59 euros.

I have much more vof in my psvr2, than my pico 4 and also better edge to edge clarity on my psvr2, no problems with clare at all..my pico is getting dusty, play more than just flight sims. Pimax will never come because I hate too small vof especially with flight sims, waiting for at least 130 real vof.

I'm off the opinion, if you have a psvr2 already, and a pc, then game on. But I wouldn't in a month of Sundays get one over a Quest 3 for a mulitiude of reasons. However, if psvr2 helps grow the pc vr space, then that's only a good thing.

Thanks mate for your pro eyes point of view to get a Sony PSVR2 sense in MSFS2020 with your precious Storm Force Intel / NVidia RTX 4090 beast to a Sony VR vriend commute. It's still a win I think to get an OLED with DP cable to replace my G2 and I might get away with my current AMD GPU also because it's not a massive resolution upgrade to it can still take it.

Thanks buddy. I think for those who already own a PSVR2, or if you can get a great deal on one, this is a great option to enjoy PC VR and maybe try some flight simulation. I'd have loved to spend more time with it. One thing I wish I tried is supersampling, but my time was limited as this wasn't the main point of the visit. Take care bud.

I know it's a first impression but the PSVR2 is by no where near its PC best. I believe it just needs a little more optimization by Sony. What you and most people fail to realize is on the PS 5 this headsets display is much better. All I am saying give it time.

Comfort is also a big plus. With the price dropping it is also one of the cheapest HMDs around. How would you say the sweetspot compares to the Bigscreen Beyond? I have had my Beyond for a while now. While I love the sharp display and comfort, I am getting a bit annoyed by the very tiny sweetspot.

No matter how high the resolution, if there's a pentile display you'll always see sde. They really need to stop including them in any vr headset.

You kinda said it, in a nice way, but this is not the way forward for anyone with a Reverb G2. I'd rather upgrade my Windows and be without a VR headset for a few months (there are quite a few headsets coming out in the next wave) than waste my money on an outdated headset like the PSVR2. It's not a sensible investment for the future.
