About #4... I was raised in a very abusive home and was forced to “change my mood” to satisfy my abuser. Now that I am an adult, I am capable of switching from very sad, to “professional” when at work or in public. I had to develop this ability while growing up to survive whichever crisis I was thrown into. So yes, fake nice people do that, but not everyone who does that is a fake nice person.

While my circumstances weren't as bad as yours, I did grow up relatively isolated and withdrawn- it made me feel like a weirdo and a failure constantly. So over time, I just kind of learned how to switch off how I feel about certain things so I didn't feel like shit 24/7, and can switch on a dime from sympathetic and kind to cold and critical when the situation calls for it. So yeah, while I'm definitely not faking being nice as I generally try to be, I know how to turn it off whenever I deem necessary

I find myself able to recover my blank face very quickly after being hurt (crying, physical pain, etc) I put on a brave, fake smile or emotionless face for the people around me like my friends and family because my mum once told me she doesn't want to see my face when I'm crying. To conclude, no, I dont find fake smiles particularly bad, if it covers up the bad mood I probably bring with my presence

I think it’s very important to point out that several of these behaviors also apply to those with autism spectrum disorder. It takes some time and effort to parse out the nuanced differences and making snap judgements based on lists like these can lead you to avoid friendships with some fantastic people...who just also happen to have autism!

It still isnt fair to the other person in a relationship. Autism or not, don’t mask, lie or be fake. It causes the other person to believe you are someone you are not. A couple months later when the real you comes out… it turns out the other person was just dating a ghost.

When listening to my friend ramble on about her character backstories and her real life, I'm genuinely interested, but I don't tend to emote, if that makes sense. She could be explaining the climax of her written stories and I'd be excited but I'd keep a straight face or even look bored (even if I'm not). I dont know if that's normal or not but uhh... yeah. So yeah, uh, I 'fake' smile a lot but like her genuinely and she's one of the few friends that I truly trust and feel like I could vent to or just be close to 'myself' without being judged so no ill will there
@TheFirstManticore
@TheFirstManticore 4 жыл бұрын
@@flare_studios. I am somewhat the same. Often I do not show the emotions I feel, and this can actually be a problem sometimes. And often I don't recognize someone else's emotion by facial expression. So I think this is a good approach on your part. If you have any doubt, ask your friend how she feels about it, and if she doesn't understand, explain it to her. You may have heard of Asperger's syndrome, a form of mild autism. People with autism, though they have feelings the same as anybody else, often have trouble expressing them or recognizing the emotions of others. Yet you can tell them how you feel, and they can tell you how they feel; and this is a great help. I am not saying that you have autism, or that I do [nobody ever told me so]. But the principle is the same; words can sometimes make up for a lack of facial expression. Or then again, somebody who knows you very well may understand perfectly because they are used to you.

3:53 I do this a lot. I didn't know it was rude/toxic, I just thought telling my experience would help them know what possibilities they might be able to face and how I faced them. Sure, we all have different experiences, but if they had something similar happen to them as it did to me, then they'd know how to possibly get by it. Someone asked me about their experiences with being trans and coming out. I told them my experience and how I dealt with it, and tried to give them ideas about what they should do if something happened. I didn't know it was toxic or rude, I just thought I was helping them feel as if they weren't alone and they'd have me to talk to if something bad happened or they needed more help.

Ghosting is an irresponsible way to act in healthy relationships. In adolescence, it can be moreso detrimental, as people who are not fully emotionally matured are likely to react disproportionately to it and assume the worst (I’m being ignored, I’m unwanted! They think I’m annoying,), which creates tension and cultivates resentment or self-esteem issues on both sides. If you care enough about someone, you must have the courage to be honest with them and tell them that you will not always be available. Be reassuring that it isn’t their fault. If they are a true friend then they will understand and be supportive of you. If they do not understand this, or do not empathize with your condition (be it introversion, disability, SAD/GAD, etc) then they are not the type of friend you will want in your life for the long term. Do not be afraid to let people know directly when you are struggling or need alone time. Not only will it improve your social skills but it will show you who your true friends are.

For anybody interested in subjects like this I recommend a book called The Four Agreements. The author talks about the way people treat you or what they think about you-the thought from the Toltec (an ancient spiritual set of beliefs) it blew me away what the author stated how you should feel when people say something bad or good about you or to you. It has made me not care what others think be it bad or good (as much as humanely possible) & to only care about how you view yourself! Assumption is another thing! Wow! How I could’ve saved myself some serious drama when i was younger if i knew to never assume! For some reason this video reminded me of this book & those 2 subjects in particular. Just thought I’d share. It’s not a religious book by any means but more a book of the soul or spirit & of self

Fake nice people get on my nerves pretending to be helpful when really they're trying to be controlling. They want to take pictures of you and everyone else but don't want to get in the picture. They want you to come to their house for a party because they can control who enters and who they put out. Their generosity is always tethered to some ulterior motive that you are unaware of at the time when you accept their generosity. Fake nice people are those people that nobody feels that they can criticize for their phoniness but everyone has gotten a taste of their venom but are afraid to stand up to them.

A warning sign can also be if someone treats almost everyone else in their life poorly and expresses a cruel hatred towards the majority of people for just existing, but is sweet as pie to you. Those are dangerous people to be close to. If something doesn't add up and doesn't make sense about their kindness, keep a careful distance. Something to do when something seems off about someone is to pay attention to the claims that people make about themselves. Don't point out any of their contradictory statements about themselves and their actions, just make a mental note of it, because those are people to be really careful around as well. Ghosting is usually a huge indicator of depression, or that person's stress in their life burning them out. Don't always assume they are ghosting unless you see them doing a bunch of stuff with other people all the time and not with you and they just ignore you. Social media can be very misleading about what a person is really going through. If someone doesn't respond or have any interest in you, then move on and wait for them to make a move. I am usually the friend that checks in on people, I maintain many one sided friendships unfortunately. So many people just don't know how to care about others and appreciate them with equal effort. Something to ask yourself is maybe you have been too reliant on them maintaining the friendship and being the one to reach out. That isn't always the case, but if that's not something you know how to do then friendships will eventually fade away. Honestly, most of my friends are like that and are clueless about it. At least with me. One hard truth in life is that we all know too many people for each of them to hold top priority. Sometimes I message people and they are actually really glad that I reached out because they were insanely lonely but don't know how to be the one to say hello first, especially if they're feeling down. When you meet someone who genuinely cares about you (and I mean really ACTUALLY cares) and has nothing to gain from it other than mutual friendship, those are the people to keep in your life and to make important.

Imo i feel like #10 is incorrect. Either that or i'm a psychopath. Honestly i've been putting up a front of being "nice" for years now. I'd smile as bright as i could, be that cheery happy-go-lucky girl in front of everyone and offering my "help" whenever i could. I'd only offer "help" when i don't have anything to lose and helping doesnt cause a problem for me. And i do those stuff like planning ahead in the day how i'm going to act towards this specific person because i want this thing out of him. Most of the time, i want them to either do me a favour or accompany me somewhere because i used to be hella' scared of being alone. If anything else, i feel like i can relate to at least 80% of those signs mentioned in the video :[ If it helps, the last few vudeos in my history is all about how to get people to listen to you, how to change people's minds, how to gain other's respects and similar titles.

Number 3 I agree. After being friends for a while and then completely cut you out of their life through ignoring you, and that behind the phone, once you guys shared contacts and go home. That is a big sign of fake niceness, and to me, there is also half-ghosting, never writing you first, or simply plain making excuses, such as after such a nice time with that "friend", you guys go home and one hopes the other one will write him, being reliable, and making time for you and vice-versa. However, when you do need him or invite him to go out or just have a conversation, that person makes excuses not to do so, making you feel suspicious and hurt, or that person flat out ignores you or after a small conversation then ignores you, known as half-ghosting. Or you are waiting for a text message and the person never writes you. Such people believe they can get away with that, without telling any truth in the face. In other words, people show their true colors, when you guys interact with each other behind the phone, because they are cowards. About number 7, yes it sucks that people only want to be friends with you for their own purposes and convenience. Then don't be friends at all? there is no point in them starting a friendship, if they intentionally use others as pawns, which makes them lose said friends anyway, since we are not up to working for jerks, and deep down they actually know that! What exactly are such people trying to accomplish in their lives? And why do such people think that this person has "something they want"? What exactly is this "something"? We are just regular human beings trying to socialize and be liked, that's all. I don't see us possessing anything. They think that they will only be nice, when "they want something" or when they feel like it, and then they turn back to being cold or what? Number 8, is the hardest truth I heard. They are ONLY nice to people who have "power". I think that EVERY human deserves respect, second of all I think it is only THEIR interpretation, that their victim doesn't have power, while the other person does, and finds it convenient to mistreat him while respecting the other. For such people, it is all about convenience, what suits well for THEM, and especially control, thinking they can do whatever the hell they want, when in reality, they are actually disrespectful. I could never treat people like that, and these people have to be taught a lesson! And lastly number 10, is actually wrong. Fake People are WAY more common that you think!

I relate to a few of these topics, but I think it depends on the situation. I'm burnt out but I have to put on a smile for work and as someone who lived in a bad family situation where I was the emotional camel, I feel like relating topics back to myself is the only way I can keep myself from delving into being other people's therapist...

I think in high school and before, mock-befriending is quite common; when you graduate and go off into the real world, people no longer have the patience, time or energy to say things they don’t mean or hang out with people they don’t really like.

Fake Smiles (How to spot a fake smile? True smiles have wrinkles around their eyes) 6. Can’t Listen 7. They always seem to want something 8. They’re only nice to people who have power 9. They like to gossip and criticize others 10. Fake nice people are pretty rare And yes, I know this video is a year old, but I hope this comment will help anyways

I’m glad I searched up this, it helped me realize that my ex bf/ex bff was a fake nice person. Well in dec in 2021 we first met he seemed pretty cool and nice, and I always told him that he wasn’t like those other boys who don’t care about girls and just use them. But then he ghosted me for 1/2 months, then he came back saying he was busy and I believed him back then, because he didn’t show signs of be toxicity yet. We talked everyday and night even when was both at school we talked until oneday he said he had a crush and I said I had one on him 2 and then I think afew weeks to a month later he said he didn’t wanna talk to me anymore and wanted to unfriend me on apps, and I was hurt. Moving forward in Jan 2023 I forgot about him and moved on with my life and I met a better amazing person (best friend), then all the sudden he messages me randomly, and I was shocked but then I texted him and he seemed nice (ofc) so I forgot everything he has done to me, 1/2 weeks later he started dating me and everything was fine until in mid February he started acting weird and abit toxic but I ignored it. Then he started ignoring me and everytime I invite him to play with me he didn’t join but he was online, then my friend messaged him saying “why are you ignoring * name *” then he makes a lie about his grades being bad and etc, and I didn’t believe him, because if I was him I wouldn’t be playing videos games for hours while my grades are that bad. But I didn’t say anything. Then march 3rd 2023, he messages me saying “my sister left the state so that’s why I haven’t been talking to you, and anyways I want to break up with you and I still “love you” and ofc I was being nice a consoling because it’s in my nature to be nice to people. But then a week later I message him and we talked for a little then he said “everytime I type “K” it says my crush name” (btw my name dosent start with a K) and I was like “ooo ok” but in my head I was pissed and abit upset. I knew he did that to make me upset but I wasn’t upset for long. Then I can say after that he was very toxic to me in games and etc, he didn’t even ask what’s wrong or nothing he kept hurting me more and more. But then bro messaged me I guess a week ago saying “* lies lies lies lies * I’ll try to talk to you more :/“ and I was like “ok” at that point I forgot he existed so I didn’t care, and ofc he didn’t message expect he needed something. Now this is more recent what he did, today (May 6th 2023) he messaged me again today, I was pretty happy today and I was laughing finally (I’m more depressed than happy so this was a good day for me) and etc. something told me not to open that text message but I did because I thought he said “hi” but instead he sent a “🤡” emoji. And I was saying “what’s wrong?” And he said “ain’t no way you’re saying what’s wrong” and I said something else then he said “did you forget?” “I said “I guess so.. I’m confused” then he said “that comment you made” and I said I remember. I actually deleted tiktok for a month then I downloaded it back and I commented on his video with a “💀” because it was just some basic Fortnite emo edit, and I forgot I commented on that video because that was like a week ago.. anyways he ruined my mood for the rest of the day and that’s how I found this video . The end. I’m glad I kinda experienced this and found this video, so I won’t find people like my ex!

"Ghosting" could just be because that person is also very depressed and feel so ashamed of their inactivity that they do not want to engage with others because they value their actions more than their words and have done nothing to show their value and the cycle continues. I ghost often, not because I want to. But because of being unwell.

I have a group and i have someone in the group who is ALWAYS nice to me and my 4 other friends in the group but my 2 friends says that she keep swearing at them and framing them, so this is very good for seeing if they are true, I have a feeling they’re true… because she keeps acting like she is guilty for doing something bad like breaking rules, but when I tell her we forgive her she’s always happy and starts breaking the rules again.. thank you for the helpful video ❤️

I would recommend figuring out _WHY_ someone is being fake nice before writing them off. I’m fake nice a lot of times, but it’s just because I’m not happy but I don’t want to place that burden on the checkout person or family friend, it’s from a place of insecurity, not anything against the other person. Sometimes it’s easier to pretend to be nice and happy than to be honest.
