Incoming rant: I feel like a crush can end without a relationship and still feel good. Unrequited love, as some call it, is such a beautiful thing. Social media makes us believe that if a crush ends without a relationship it was tragic, but I think the idea of having a crush in and of itself is not tragic at all, even if it ends without a spark. There’s something so pure about the idea of having your entire day made by simply brushing shoulders with that special person or feeling euphoric when they smile. Sometimes you might even go out of your way to see them, whether it’d be going down a different hallway at school or going somewhere you’ll know you’ll find them. Not to mention the urge to better yourself so they’ll notice you. You might start working out more or dressing up better. It’s funny to think about how us humans try to woo other people we like. It’s even better when the other person doesn’t know that you like them! It really goes to show how we impact others without even knowing it. Who knows? Maybe someone is crushing on you too. Maybe someone admires your smile from afar and goes out of their way to bump into you. Maybe you’re that special person they think about when they watch these kinds of videos. And maybe one day they’ll look back on their life at one point and an image of you will pop up in their head. Even 20 years from now, you can be the cause of someone to smile and not know it. See what I mean? One sided love is not always tragic. That special spark is one that, unlike many relationships, will last a lifetime.

Honestly, to me, having a crush is so bittersweet. On one hand, it’s nice to have someone to like bc it’s just this rlly nice and amazing feeling. Rejection and conflicts are part of any human relationship and we deal with those in our daily lives pretty often, point being, it’s ok to feel bad about being rejected, it’s ok to think that you might mess things up somehow and make things awkward between the two of you due to your past, it’s all part of being human. What is not okay is to stay with these thoughts and not externalizing your feelings for that person, keeping it all bottled up to yourself and then once it’s too late wonder what might had happen if you said how you felt, and remain with a sense of regret when you think back on them. Give it a shot, go for it no matter what, believe in the end of the day wether of it works out or not, you’ll feel like you took a BIG weight of your shoulders. And who knows, maybe that person sees you in that same light but never found enough courage to say so until you took that step. You can do this all it takes is a little leap of faith. I guess I got lucky, the only girl I was ever truly romantically interested in liked me back, it was like a dream come true for those nearly 3 years but she passed away in August. We knew that the 2 of us weren't going to live past 25 but it doesn't make it hurt any less. I was too nervous to ask her out myself but I'm so extremely thankful that she had the courage to try to confess to me. She got about half way through that sentence before trying to run off but I caught her and told her I liked her too. I've got roughly 4 or so years left and I don't plan on being with anyone else in that time. Regardless of if your circumstances are similar to ours or not, I truly hope whoever is reading this musters up the courage to try to confess to their crush/love interest, you never know when it'll be too late, and you won't know if your simple crush will sprout into something beautiful until you give it a go before you lose the only chance to. I love you Taylah and I always will.
