I don't think the romantic type of love is special. And I am started to think that the romantic type of love isn't real. I mean about more than half of romantic couples either break up with each other or divorce each other, while most platonic best friends remain friends until death. Also, most people are pretty much comfortable enough to be naked around someone and have sex with someone that they have no romantic feelings towards. So sex isn't really a thing about romance. I think that having a platonic best friend is a lot better than having a romantic partner or spouse is. Having someone who's like a sibling to you is a lot better than having a romantic partner is. Also, you would more likely be much closer to a person who's like a brother or sister to you than you would be with a partner or spouse. People tend to fight with their partner or spouse a lot more than they do with a platonic best friend, and you never fight with your best friend the way you fight with your partner or spouse. Partners and spouses are just temporary. If you break up or divorce them, it's hard to go back to them. With your platonic best friend, you're going to make things work, because they are your best friend, they are your go to partner. It's always easier to make amends with them than it is with a romantic partner or spouse.
@icysnow57cold644 жыл бұрын
Also, there are a lot of toxic romantic relationships, while there isn't that many toxic platonic relationships. Like an example is that abuse happens a lot in romantic relationships, while abuse is rare in platonic relationships. So there is a lot of abusive romantic relationships, while there is isn't that many abusive platonic relationships. Why do you think abusive romantic relationships have a term for them called "domestic violence", while abusive platonic relationships don't have a term for them? It's because abuse in platonic relationships are very rare, while abuse in romantic relationships happens a lot. And also, a lot of people cheat on their romantic partners with someone else, while most people won't do stuff like that with their platonic best friends. Also, I heard that most people can live a life without romance and can still be happy. But most of the time, if someone doesn't have any platonic friends in their life, it can effect them really bad mentally; much worse than living a life without a romantic partner. In today's world, less people are dating and getting married now, and they seem to be more happy being single rather than being in romantic relationship with someone. Also, you're going to have a much deeper spoken understanding and connection with your best friend than you are with a romantic partner or spouse. So those are other reasons why romantic love isn't real or special, while platonic love is.
@icysnow57cold644 жыл бұрын
And also, it seems that fathers usually hate it whenever their daughter gets a boyfriend (even if the boyfriend is a good guy), and it seems that they often hate the idea of their daughter dating, and many fathers seem against the idea of their daughters dating. There are even shirts made for daughters that say "I'M NOT ALLOWED TO EVER DATE" and shirts made for fathers that say "DADS AGAINST DAUGHTERS DATING". Brothers also tend to act the same way that fathers do whenever their sister gets a boyfriend (even if the boyfriend is a good guy). It seems brothers (like fathers) hate the idea of their sisters dating. So it seems that most fathers don't ever want their daughters to find love and be in a romantic relationship with someone, and it also seems that most brothers don't ever want their sisters to find love and be in a romantic relationship with someone. So those could also be other reasons why the concept of romantic relationships isn't a good thing because of how protective fathers and brothers tend to be whenever their daughter or sister dates someone.

We don't need to consciously get over the honeymoon phase, the phase comes naturally with any new relationship and it sometimes fizzles out NATURALLY or ages well like a wine.. NATURALLY. Experience life as it comes.. things that are meant to be will always find its way. The foundation of any relationship becomes strong when you face worst of life together not just the best. For some people, worst of life may come after 2 years of relationship, for some it may come in just the honeymoon phase..in the first 2-3 months even. If you deal with the phase together, doesn't matter even if you're in your honeymoon phase, your relationship will strengthen in that phase too.

@P00CHEZ2 жыл бұрын
Compatibility still plays an important part. Just because you can coexist with just about anyone doesn’t mean it’s love or that you will be happy with them. Even if you can fix things doesn’t always means it’s worth the time or effort or that the other person feels the same. That’s just called settling. It’s better to find someone that you harmonize well with and don’t have to constantly fight either. It’s not impossible.

@@menahealing Love is a verb not a feeling. We love someone by showing them we care through acts. Every day we must wake up a choose to love our partner whether we are pissed off with them or overjoyed with them. Once infatuation fades you can choose to either focus your time on building this true love with the person or move onto more infatuation with someone else. Of course you must be relatively compatible and the relationship should always feel safe.
@beautybyhanin18122 жыл бұрын
@@menahealing i think it depends on the circumstances when you talk about compatibility; sometimes if there is a huge cultural difference or religious difference etc it may turn out messy at some point when its time to make life decisions such as marriage or how you will raise children if you decide to have any, also cultural and religious differences sometimes have different ways to show ''respect'' and ''care'' or handle arguments which will make it feel like an endless battle to prove a point to one another all the time, but like i said it all just depends. Your heart is in the right place. I started watching the videos about depression trying to find answers (it's burn out) & then started to look at my relationships... but I wasn't looking with my heart in the right place. It was just another answer to find & problem to fix. But recently I've been shifting my mind & heart to being a better person because most of my unhappiness is towards myself & I was projecting. So being a better friend, child, self, etc. is where we better our hearts. Good on you. (May you Live long & prosper)

This is so accurate. I have never doubted that my fiancé is the real deal. We've been together for more than 8 years, we hardly ever argue and when we do, we always make sure to solve it before bed. I can always tell what he is thinking about and vice versa. We suprise each other from time to time with flowers, the other's favourite rare snack, or a special home-made meal. He supports me in my depression and I respect his boundaries when it comes to social activities (I am an extravert while he is an introvert). It just... works! We were going to get married this Thursday but had to postpone it for a year (thanks C-19), but we love each other so much we already consider ourselves husband and wife. ❤

Okay , I also need to ask u smth. What does crushing feel like? Can u describe it?
@TheKrazeeLadee3 жыл бұрын
@@Clementine3107 I think it's different from person to person and even from crush to crush. I've had crushes in the past but they weren't always the same. The things they had in common was 1. thinking about them all the time, 2. finding ways to be around them (usually when spending time with mutual friends) and 3. constantly blushing and being unable to stop smiling whenever talking to them. But the experience was different with each of them. One crush was exhausting and painful, another was exciting, sometimes it was both. The trick is to know the difference between crushing on someone and falling in love. In my experience, the guys I have crushed on were surprisingly easy to get out of touch with. Out of sight, out of mind. But with my fiancé, it was different. A week without him felt like an eternity. I was uncharacteristically proactive in going to whatever party or movie he was going to with our mutual friends and I had even asked him out on our first date. I'd never even thought of doing anything like that before. It was a sense of certainty that we belonged together. He felt the same way, and we were both pretty honest and straightforward with each other about it, which was scary for both of us but formed a very solid start for our relationship. All I can advise is: always be honest with yourself and the person you (think you) are crushing on. It's terrifying, but it's honestly the best way to go. Think to yourself first: could it work between us? Maybe start as friends and see if it can be built up to more than that, one step at a time. If it doesn't happen, that can be painful, but then someone else was meant for you. Never try to force it if it doesn't feel right. Hope this helps a little?

@@sameena713 I was attracted to him from the beginning lol. His name is Tim and he went to a school that i was new to and I already knew I had a little bit of a crush but did nothing about it. I got into a relationship with the complete wrong person and it was a very bad relationship. After me and my ex broke up and I had moved on from it i asked one of my friends to give me Tims phone number. Flash forward to quarantine and I was in one of the worst mental states I've ever been in. I cut myself off from everyone and went weeks without showering n all that jazz. One day I had become fully convinced that i wasn't a real person and all my memories were fake and I couldn't stand it and I don't know why but he's the one person I could bring myself to text at that time. Our whole relationship started out with me freaking out and delusional and him trying to help lol. I got better slowwwwly over time and we became best friends for a couple months. I knew I wanted to be in a relationship with him. The more we talked the more we seemed to get along and the more we seemed to have in common. Even from the beginning it was easy for me to talk to him which is uncommon for me with most people. We made a shared spotify playlist and we made plans to do fun stuff together post-quarantine and gave each other some hope :) it was very nice. I knew then that I was genuinely in love with him. Around the middle of summer he asked me to be his girlfriend (which I was going to do but he beat me to it). We have been going steady for months now and it's been absolutely amazing. I still definitely get my bad days but he supports me through them and we encourage each other to do good in school because it's hard to be motivated to do online school hahah it just feels so right to be with him I can't describe it. This is definitely true love. He's been patient with me, I've been patient with him, we respect each other, and I just feel 100% comfortable with him. I mean I'm not unrealistic I know that we are just teenagers and in the end it likely won't work out but our relationship is so healthy and we both are deeply in love with each other so that's why I call it true love. We may not last forever doesn't matter to me. I have him right now and that's all I need

being in an almost 3 yo relationship, taught me that ,even though I might sometimes feel the "fall out of love" emotion, it';s all about trying to find the solution, not just leaving ur partner behind. Sometimes it's just being overwhelmed, stressed that our mind is trying to blame on our love. I know that my relationship will last just because of how well we can communicate. Don't forget that love it's not effortless, and it won't always be the same as when you met each other. Thank you so much for this video

This is exactly what true love is for me. I have been with my partner for 10 years now and all we want to do is see each other live our best life together. We have worked through arguments and hardships and are able to do so in a positive way because of true love. It did take a while to find true love. We started a relationship as friends, loved each other, fell in love with each other and then found true love with each other. I think it's a process you go through. Being in a personally challenging but meaningful healthy relationship, I learned: TRUE LOVE is holding on to reason to stay committed. No matter how silly, absurd, shallow or unreasonable that reason might be, if it binds the both of you, if it works, then it's good enough. No standard, no comparison to others.. as long as it's not detrimental and it's good for your inner workings. I experience all the things in the list. I agree with them. But for people who are looking for answers, let me tell you. Nothing is consistent. This list may not be applicable to you at all. And that's okay. Seek your relationship deeper, and find that Reason why it is the right love for you. I am not my own ideal guy to my partner, there's a lot of challenges that I have to confront about myself to stay inlove and accepting. But I choose to stay because I can't be without my partner. And for me that's enough reason. Choose your lover today. Then choose them tomorrow. Then again and again and again. That's the greatest measure of your love.

The reason being "i cant be without my partner" should probably be questioned. Its a statement without explanation, which is logically not enough to make a smart choice for anything in life. I feel like doing something, so i do it, isnt exactly a good idea. There are multiple psychological attachment styles and only 1 of them is actually healthy. I do agree with choosing your lover everyday though. So amazing. Endless love. :)

I think another important and almost bittersweet thing I’ve learned now as I’ve gotten older is that even with all these components of love at play between two people, it is still never a guarantee to being together forever. Also, that maybe the goal of relationships is to be or become their truest form for however long they are meant to last, and grow from or within each one.

I would add one more: you say the same things at the same time✨ When you're in a true, long lasting, loving relationship your brains literally start getting wired together on some weird ethereal level, no joke. I've been living together with my man for 4 years now and we dated for about 2 years before officially becoming a couple. (we're planning to get married) I swear we don't even have to talk anymore! 😂 We just look each other in the eyes and we both know what's up. We say the same things in the same manner at exactly the same time, then laugh, then both say "I love you" simultaneously, then laugh again about that 😁 True love feels like being the ultimate besties 💖

It feels nice to go from a relationship where I didn’t have any of this to something stable and loving and peaceful. Dating with bipolar depression is very hard given that it’s hard for me to form close bonds with people. But he is very patient with me and he comforts/reassured me whenever I need it. And when you feel like your partner has your back 100% it makes you want to go above and beyond to show them the same. I’m glad I was able to find someone who will be there for me no matter what and appreciates me for me ❤️
@killinglonliness882 жыл бұрын
I have bipolar and manic depression but I'm the exact opposite. I form very strong bonds almost instantly, I know how I feel about a person within moments of meeting them and my gut has never steered me wrong yet. It's odd but quite interesting to see someone with the same issues as myself but have a completely different life experience when it comes to these types of things. I'm very happy for you that you've found someone who understands you and works well with you. I had that too but eventually everyone can't handle the mess that I am. lol. Oh well, I'm happily single at the moment. XD

@killinglonliness882 жыл бұрын
@@frodoan It really is different for every person. The best advice I can give you is to be patient, attentive to their actions and if they change drastically make sure they’re not having a depressive episode. Make sure they know you care, you’re there to listen to them when they need someone to hear them, let them cry if they need to cry. Do little things to make them happy like making (or buying) a meal they enjoy, or watching something they’d enjoy with them, etc. It’s really the little things that mean the most and just being attentive and listening goes a long way in showing you care. If they’re having a hard day, offer to do something they would normally take care of to help them out. Like some days I’m so depressed I don’t have the energy to get anything done, even simple chores around the house like dishes, etc. If I had a partner that noticed I was having a bad day and offered to do the dishes it would mean so much. Really that’s the only advice I can really give, what matters most is SHOWING that you care with your actions, not just saying so. Sometimes we just need you to be near when we are depressed, it’s comfort just to have someone we care about care enough to about us to be there when we need them. Hope this helps, and sorry for the slow reply!

I would add two more things : 1°) the 1st person you need to love is yourself (without criticism or change who you are, but just accepts and loves who you are, you have many of qualities, take a time to see it ;-) 2°) the 7th point "You're not interested in anyone else" is pretty exclusive in my opinion, all depends of your sensibility (if you feel monoamorous or polyamorous) and not of some censorship after all, the thing is you should discuss it with your lover, and if he/she really loves you and respects you, he/she will understand and give you that freedom you should need (that's why you need to love yourself first, without fear to be abandoned for who you are and for what you feel), otherwise it could save your lifetime. In my opinion, you can freely like other persons' aspects, but in middle of all that you freely choose to be with a particular person. When you give the choice to yourself and to the others, that's a true love for me (and avoids emotional dependence, which could impact on the freedom of the other person, and yours, and could lead to a rupture). Thanks for reading ^^

Yep, this proved it. We really have true love, all of what you mentioned, we have/do it. This is how every relationship should be, open, trusting, patient, loving, supportive, loyal, honest, accepting etc. Man i am so proud to have a perfect example of a healthiest relationship possible. And, which might surprise you, we have a distant relationship. So far, we have only seen each other on pictures, but we chat every time possible, which can when lead to over 10h a day. Chatting straight. So, just a heads up for other distant lovers, your distance means nothing! Even if other people assume that, you know better. Distant relationships can be just as healthy and true as real life ones. Our relationship is a perfect example for it. We’ve been together for over 9 months now without having seen each other in real life once. However we still have as much interest in this relationship as we had at the beginning of it and the more we talk, the more we love each other. We even have plans for the future and are 100% convinced we will make grow old together. Of course reading of those couples who hold hands even while sleeping is a little tearing down as we can’t do that, but we definitely will as soon as possible. We might also meet each other soon in real life and are extremely excited for it. I know probably no one is gonna read this, but that doesn’t matter. I just wanted to leave this here for people to see his beautiful distant relationships can be, even if you have never met each other in real life. It’s not about seeing, it’s about honesty, loyalty and trust. Without that, no stable relationship can form. These are the basics and if they are given, no one can tell you how worthy your relationship is. So to all the people who struggle, because they keep being told their relationships aren’t real, stay strong. Your relationships are. And only you have the right to judge your relationship. Not others. This text is also to give people, who have given up on love, some hope again or help them see issues in their unstable relationships. Feel free to vent here, I will try to help by supporting or giving advices. Thank you for reading ❤️

Real love means putting someone else before yourself, that takes sacrifice and a lot of willpower. Choosing everyday "he/she is MY person and i am theirs" whether the day was good or bad. And in such a "me first" world its next to impossible to find.

When I was watching this, I was checking of the boxes just to make sure it was true love, the person I'm currently in a relationship with is something I can't just describe because there is so much hope and dedication that I share with them that it's overwhelming sometimes. I hadn't heard from them in months, until Saturday, when I got an anonymous call that turned out to be them. We rarely ever see each other, and it turns out that they had moved, not out of state though which is very fortunate. We both started crying when we heard each other's voices for the first time in what felt like a very long time, it was almost alien to her their voice again, but I was overjoyed that I could hear from them again. What really hurts is that I just started high school (my significant other is a grade lower than me), they are in a different school and my parents are downgrading every dream I have of keeping some of my friends after school and still having a strong relationship with them. This is only because they each only have one friend from school that they never talk to but still have in their contacts or on Facebook. What they don't know is that I will NOT be like them. And I will find a way to keep what I have.
