Being able to spectate on cog sci being produced in a dialogical way is so personally valuable to me. I work in IT and love my career, but being able to virtually put my head through this window on my weekends significantly improves my life and my understanding of myself and world. Dorothy we aren’t in ‘KZbin’ anymore …

This was like watching a musical lol. It all flowed together so well. I could see why you joked about it not being planned because it almost felt too good to not remark on it. What an incredible conversation. Thank you so much for sharing it and giving people like me the ability to hear such intense thinking and real time problem solving. Awesome.

What is fundamentally missing from this conversation is the role of peitho or persuasion in the therapeia of psyche. The key antagonism is between nomos (understood as convention) vs physis (the authentic and spontaneous expression of nature manifested within man). The role of the therapist or rhetorician is to place the psyche of the patient outside their current nomos, into a more appropriate and better adjusted nomos that conforms to their own physis. In order to do so it is important to take into consideration the patient's eidos and the carefully-time or intuited kairos. Illness and health are not statements of true conditions, but are expressed in relation to the advantage afforded to a man's life.

I am really interested in the subject matter so glad I am here at the very start of your project before the language and new terms run away from me. Here I go.. over, under and through the rainbow, hope to see you on the other side.

Season 4 of my favorite show is back! I think the ADHD analogy is ripe for mining, my reflections always seem to come back to focus or attention itself being the "bud" through which non-dual awareness arises or unfurls...learning how to "see" or properly put on glasses that aren't internalizations of past experiences

@ 36:00 Vervaeke describes the potential of what we now know as disorders as perhaps being advantages in our ancient past. This notion is also expressed in Brett Weinstein and Heather Heying's book "Hunter Gatherers in the 21st century."

Ho do you spell the name of the scientist mentioned at around 22:29, who worked on the conundrum of the averages in psych research?

Hoffman, Hayes and even Sloan Wilson seem to be moving in some similar directions. Are you collaborating with them as well? Great conversation here by the way.

Is the ultimate goal in the study of human sociological behavior and that of the psyche by the recognized professional class thereof, to turn the tentative results or conclusions over to the individual or to the authority? Does the inertia of critical human knowledge flow uphill as the default in order for the control over it to be centralized, and should it be, given the wealth of historical knowledge in the human condition for the love of power?

A sane mind has at least this realisation. Eyes open. from “The Adventure of Consciousness”: "In a moment my mind became silent as a windless air on a high mountain summit and then I saw one thought and then another coming in a concrete way from outside; I flung them away before they could enter and take hold of the brain and in three days I was free. From that moment, in principle, the mental being in me became a free Intelligence, a universal Mind, not limited to the narrow circle of personal thoughts as a labourer in a thought factory, but a receiver of knowledge from all the hundred realms of being and free to choose what it willed in this vast sightempire and thought-empire. page 40 Having started from a small mental construction in which he felt quite at ease and highly enlightened, the seeker looks back and wonders how he ever managed to live in such a prison. He isparticularly struck to see how for years and years he lived surrounded by impossibilities, and how humans in general live behind bars: "You can't do this; you can't do that; it's against this law, against that law; it's illogical; it's not natural; it's impossible.” And of course, following from there, the realisation of both Nirvana (Buddha) and Cosmic Consciousness (Christ, Krsna) simultanuously. Good luck.

John, have you come to the idea to make "a" connection between "flowstates" and the E8Dimension Theories (think here Garry Lisi 4exp.)? Would there be intangelment vibrational states between the subatomic particles themselves as we while moving through (personal) practices enter in their v8brational dimentions? Just a directional thought that came back the same way the subject of the "flowstates" phenomenon is following you... 😉

At about 24min Gregg states that his attitudes towards feminism didn't shift upon becoming a father to a girl. I'm scratching my head about the nonchalance with which he makes this statement. Anyone else? Am I missing something?

What are you talking about? The series has only just started. Don't be so presumptuous. I see you writing many negative comments on John's videos. Things like "nope this is entirely wrong" without qualifying why, even after John has spent 2hours laying out the problem. What is your problem? To use words John has invoked before, it sounds like you are engaging in philia nikia as opposed to philia sophia🧐🤦‍♂️
