The FAA and AMEs should do more outreach and programs to teach pilots about mediation, mindfulness, media literacy to avoid negative clickbait news or media that causes stress, and natural supplements that are safe versus harmful and inappropriate. Pilots can not be as medicated as the general public (highly over medicated) so we should teach them different and natural (but appropriate) ways to manage stress or mental health.

If training standards aren’t increased to a standard proficiency level, then WE are actually making a case for autonomous aircraft to at least be given a chance to succeed. We gotta be better everyday!

I actually agree with the FAA on their stimulants policy, and even the depression med one too. Some of those SSRIs DO or can cause suicidal ideation in patients who have been depressed but NOT suicidal. Also long term stimulant use can cause increased blood pressure and heart conditions. It’s best to not take anything including liquor to “cope” with stress. Stick with a sport, exercise, safe-sex or sex with a trusted partner, and meditation. Mindfulness, meditation, and exercise are the best cure for stress or anxiety.

Pilots do tend to drink. I’ve met very few pilots that don’t drink on a regular basis. I don’t think it’s the stress of the job. I think that certain professions attract certain kinds of people. The kind of person that aviation attracts tends to be the kind of person that likes to tie one on lol.

Hi guys, currently im looking at becoming a pilot and going to ATP to do their 0 to full pilot course. Saddly i do not qualify to get loan to pay for the school fees and I do not have cosigner (currently). What would you recomend I do?

You could drive a truck to save money and build your credit. Within a year, you may have enough cash to pay for some and enough credit to finance the rest.
