I absolutely LOVE this song and as Amber said you can absolutely lose yourself in the journey. So many fantastic Supertramp songs though. Too many to say this is my favourite. I guess if I had to put some sort of order on them it would be: (1) Give a Little Bit, (2) The Logical Song, (3) School, (4) Dreamer and (5) It's Raining Again. I return to these again and again.

Also saw them in '79, an outdoor show on a beautiful night at my college. They waited until dark, then slowly came out and began to tune their instruments. @Particulator
@Particulator Жыл бұрын
Why is it scary or surprising that good music last through the years. Just like paintings and sculptures, music is an art form and great artists are remembered. Right now, while you read this, thousands of musicians are playing music written centuries ago, there's even a chance that human invented music(Neanderthal flute) before they developed a language. We who wear the ears, are responsible to "feed" them the good stuff. Don't let an algorithm decide for you what you must listen to. I would argue that most of the music crap we are fed from the medias these days is somewhat the same as Trump's NFTs for visual art, cheap ,shallow, plagiarized and unimaginative.

@@Particulator Wow. you left a thoughtful comment.. and then had to tie a former president into it.. so unnecessary. 😒 All I can say is try not to think about that guy for the next two years. Just like in a play, there is an intermission, which is intended to give everyone a rest, so that they can be all fired up mentally when part two inevitably comes. You'd be wise to take a mental break from "part one", and get that guy out of your head in the meantime.. afterall, this intermission only has 716 days left in it. 🤣

Seriously, you two need to listen to the whole album in one sitting. I was very young when this album came out, but I bought it. I was 7. I really didn’t “get” everything that they were trying to convey, but the music did take me away from where I was at the time. It was amazing. The best distraction from a stressful (not entirely in a bad way) childhood. I was raised in a very strict home on military bases. Dad was often away fir training exercises. We were often on bases isolated from cities and “the real world” populated by homes of civilians. If we didn’t move in any given year, most of our friends did. There was little to no contact with the extended family. But my parents let us have our escapes from daily stresses by giving us unrestricted use of base and community libraries, and both my brother and I were given radios for our rooms. The music was the best. The era I grew up in was filled with such variety and such amazingly creative artists. The reason I started watching these reaction videos is to see the joy and wonder on your faces. It takes me back to not only when I discovered the songs, but the moment that the meanings “clicked in” for me. Thanks for posting the videos. I look forward to seeing them daily.

When I was 13 in 1974, a friend's family here in Canada had a pizza restaurant. One of the restaurant employees just happened to be the sister of a Supertramp band member. She had her brother send a copy of the album signed by the band that she gave to my friend. At the time the album was only released in the UK and it was almost three years later that the re-release became an international hit. It's possible that when we used to listen to my friends copy, we were the only ones in North America doing so. We would hang out and play the entire album repeatedly. It was (and is) so good! I suspect my old friend Neil still has that signed copy after 49 years but the album itself is likely worn out.

Yet freakin’ Missy Elliott is nominated this year while Supertramp was doing it since two years before she was born. The Hall has lost a lot of credibility with many of us the past two decades, both because of who has gotten in and because of many legends who are still left out.

This is the opening song off my favourite album of all time. Hopefully we get some more off of Crime of the Century, I don't think there's a single miss on the entire album.

OMG! You DID IT! I've been recommending and waiting for this for many, many months! Thank you! Thank you! Brilliant song and brilliant album. I get lost in this when I put on my headphones and crank it up. Amber was sailing away as she listened and I love that (a journey, indeed, Amber)! I knew you would eventually get to this and I am so glad you did! THANK YOU! I now feel complete! hehe.

Somehow I missed your Supertramp reactions. Amber is so beautiful, I loved seeing her just groovin' to the music. This is definitely one of the best bands of the 70s. I got a chance to see and photograph Roger Hodgson when he came through NJ on a solo tour a few years ago. That was a great show.

This song really does have a Pink Floyd vibe to it. I have this album on CD, perfect for road trips. This and Even In The Quietest Moments are my two top faves by them. You two always give great and honest reactions. It's a pleasure to experience this great music for the first time along with you!

Oh the memories this song brings back for me back in the late 70's. Been hoping for so long for you guys to do this one. One of my all time favorites, Supertramp was the greatest. The scream the little girl does in the beginning just before the band really kicks in used to freak me out but I thought it was so cool too.

I second all comments. This was most folks' first Supertramp experience. And after all the great tunes of theirs that came after, they still haven't topped it IMO.

Now you're dipping into some classic Art. Pretty soon you'll be listening to The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, Relayer + Court of the Crimson King! (crossing fingers) [edit] This is a GREAT album to experience Supertramp's more "progressive" side. "Rudy", "If Everyone Was Listening", "Hide In Your Shell", "Asylum" + the title track are ALL works of genius. The two "poppier" songs you've already heard, I believe - "Dreamer" + "Bloody Well Right". It's simply a Masterwork from start to finish - a real rarity in the world of Rock.

Thank you, Thank you... I've been waiting a long time for you to discover School! Now you know the genius behind Supertramp. The songs you've done up to now are very good although they are their more commercial successes. Now that you know what they can do, you might try "From Now On", "Crime Of The Century", and "Fool's Overture"... these are masterpieces! Enjoy! Keep on bringing us great reactions!
