The piano and musical breakdown from School was used in a commercial for our annual local boat show at the convention centre. It was used for several years in the early 80s. This is one of those bands That could play a Little bit of everything like ELO. Every time I hear certain songs by Supertramp reminds me of an old buddy of mine from back in the late 70s one of my best friends lived across the street from me for years and died of leukemia. He was a major fan of Supertramp and it’s just one of those bands that’ll always be with me.

Whenever anyone does Supertramp, I always recommend a more obscure song "Lord Is It Mine?" It really is beautiful...just Roger and the piano. Saw their last tour. I can't remember if it was 82 or 83. Scrounged up the money, finally was able to buy on the day of the concert, somehow me and my friend got 8th row. This was before they had different prices for different seats. $32. Awesome concert.

That wonderful saxophone player is John Helliwell. Although the band is led by Roger Hodgson & Rick Davies (including most if not all of the writing), John was the "Bandleader" on stage during live concerts. He did all the chatter including some lengthy song introductions during the shows. In addition to sax he played an entire music box of percussion instruments such as cowbell, tambourine, triangle, assorted bells & whistles and backing vocals. A very busy man!

Supertramp was a band I'd heard of but never listened to as a kid or teen - not sure why I never checked them out - but, as an adult, I'm discovering them along with you and loving it as well. It's fun to watch y'all react to music that I already love but it's also great to discover new bands and music with you. I'm kind of sad I missed out on Supertramp back in the day (though I'm not sure I would have appreciated them as much back then, tbh) but really stoked to be finding them now. So good! And, as someone who dabbles in music as a hobby, bands like Supertramp are so inspiring. Anyway, great reaction, y'all, as always!

All the times I've listened to this song before, I've been focused on the obvious parts; Rick Davies's work on the piano and his vocals, Roger Hodgson on the guitar, John Helliwell on the sax. But, because Jay really loves the bass and because i've been writing comments here and was completely embarrassed when I could never recall Dougie Thomson's name (on multiple occasions!), I paid especial attention to him this time through and dang! Is that one FAT and throbbing bass line. Nice. So thank you guys for not only giving me the enjoyment of watching your reactions, but for making me listen more closely and thus enjoy the song even more. (And belated apologies to Dougie for having overlooked him, previously.)

Initially the B-side to the 1st single, "Dreamer', "Bloody Well Right" became Supertramp's breakthrough hit, reaching number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. Other popular song from "Crime Of The Century are "Dreamer", "School" and "Hide In Your Shell."

I have been fortunate enough to have seen Supertramp “The Tramp” Live 3 times. Their live shows are a spectacle and brilliant. Each member is a musical genius. Jay- Do you recall "Goodbye Stranger" by Supertramp? It's the one where Roger Hodgson sings in falsetto,🎵Goodbye Mary, Goodbye Jane🎵 and it has that kick-a__ guitar solo outro at the end. It has some cool transitions too. I can't over-emphasize the influence Supertramp has had on my younger years. Looking back, they were one of the most underrated bands ever. But thanks to KZbin reactors like you and Amber, they are garnering the appreciation they deserve. I love their pop songs the most. Some you've yet to hear: *Breakfast In America* *Oh Darlin'* *Dreamer* And *It's Raining Again* (just like now in the Chicago area ☔️🌧)("It's Raining Again was released in 1982 and brought their sound into the next decade)

Glad yer gettin' around to all these great songs! BWR features Rick Davies singing the lead vocal, and playing the "Wurly," a Wurlitzer electric piano. He also sings on Goodbye Stranger, and Oh Darling, another radio hit from Breakfast in America, while most of the other Supertramp hit songs have Roger Hodgson singing in his strong, clear, often amazingly high voice. Supertramps still got a bunch of great music to experience: "Child Of Vision" "Dreamer" "It's Raining Again" "Oh Darling" (Rick Davies sings this one too) "Breakfast In America" (more)

The Greatest Hits album cover you referred to where the waitress from the Breakfast in America album has her hand through the bars is a nod to the album Crime of the Century which has the bars with two hands grasping them. Another album that I love is Even in the Quietest Moments.

So glad that you guys got to Bloody Well Right (I've been waiting for months for you to do this). You're next Supertramp song needs to be School from the Crime of the Century album, then Rudy, Dreamer, and Hide in Your Shell. There's much more than this, but you'll be pleased with these choices. FYI, you've used their greatest hits album cover a couple of times. This cover incorporates elements from several of their albums, most notably the prison bars from Crime of the Century and the hand holding the plate and glass from Breakfast in America. You may want to see them live sometime, so check out any of their performances from Paris Live in 1979...they are incredible.

English band, "Bloody" is an English expletive that most closely corresponds to "f*cking." So they're saying "You're f*cking right." Also, the sax player John Helliwell, served as the band's MOC for the concerts. During this song, he used a megaphone 📣 chime in on the chorus, which had "Right" on one side, & "Quite Right" on the other.

At the time - 74-75 - in the UK, "bloody" was still widely considered a shocking swear word, for some reason, and the song had little or no airplay. But it was a hit in the US, even as a B side, because there wasn't such a problem with the word. Anyway, as others have said, you should really listen to this as a companion piece and a segue from the first track on the album, School
