@@garyroberts3859 I agree wholeheartedly, and it's not a league that contains any professionally trained opera singer. Without amplification he is lost, his technique is lacking in his upper register and he is devoid of emotional resonance. He's a fine 'popera' performer no doubt, and certainly not unpleasant to listen to, but artistically and musically he doesn't compare in my opinion, and it's only my opinion. There are so many compelling performances of this aria being interpreted (not sung), here is a recent one that I think is excellent kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXyuqaxmn99mmMU .

Queen smashed it totally for the concert start. But Nessun Dorma, thank you so much for posting this. Dorma is one of the few pieces of music to touch the very soul, you don’t have to know what it means. And that chorus, divine. How anyone can avoid tears on ‘vincero’ is beyond me.

I know what you mean Brian, though for me there are many many pieces of music that do it for me. I am actually contemplating learning to play an interpretation of Nessun Dorma on the pedal steel guitar, which will be 'some' challenge! This even though opera is not my thing, it is a piece that certainly transcends. Even though the meaning of the words and the setting, seem rather bonkers! On a completely different vein, suggest trying Sweet Memories by Mickey Newbury, and see how deeply it effects you.......

The music is actually from composer Giacomo Puccini written in 1931. Andrea Bocelli’s voice is a product of genetics and years of dedicated training and practice towards his craft. Obviously god doesn’t ACTUALLY exist.
@Melvvynfirmager2 жыл бұрын
@@fezzik7619 A somewhat unnessary comment, unworthy of anyone who really cares. You might think if a clever thing to say, but it isn't...... Better to stick with words of kindness. I hope you have a pleasant day, and find happiness, with or without God. Kathy was clearly greatly moved by the performance, and doesn't need that emotion sallied by your remarks. Perhaps you might consider graciously apologising.
@fezzik76192 жыл бұрын
@@Melvvynfirmager There is no way I’m going to apologize. Should she apologize to me for asserting that the music and his voice are gifts from god? Just as she can express her beliefs with impunity I am equally within my right to express my disagreement with them.

This was a performance worthy of a Queen! I know there were vocalists from other genres of music, but seriously a full concert by Andrea Bocelli would have been appropriate also. My favorite part of the festivities after tea time with Paddington Bear and the Queen's three balcony appearances .
