I’m confused about the difference between generic and brand. Is generic what you can get under the counter? Or both prescribed? #BasicEMT

Hey Raeann, thanks for being a subscriber here! The brand name is the name marketing/drug companies will use to promote the drug (think like the "TV Commercial" name. The generic name is the closest to the actually "lab" name of the drug. For example... Lipitor is a brand name of atorvastatin. Marketing "atorvastatin" on TV is tough to say right? Lipitor sounds much easier and reminds the customer WHY and WHAT the medicine does. Lipitor is a medicine to lower bad cholesterol.
