Something is wrong with Back to the Future Doc. I hope he's reported to the APA by someone in Virginia. There were several things he said he used that turned out to be completely false information (vomitus, earpiece, comparing JD in commercials and pirates vs testimony) in his evaluation, and when brought to his attention, he didn't seem to care. He definitely should not be an expert witness ever and it should be grounds for an appeal for any case he's testifed in. He does not need to be treating patients if he carries that same attitude into his practice.

One advantage that he has is that he sees himself as a teacher, both as he imparts knowledge to his students and colleagues, and to those in his care as patients and families of patients. To do this job, it is important that you have these skills. This testimony is just an extension of these skills. He is much clearer in his testimony.

Dr Smeagol's testimony seriously triggered my anxiety yesterday. I don't usually get triggered from watching court/crime videos, either. One of my biggest fears is going to a professional for help and being hurt further or misdiagnosed instead of properly helped. This psychiatrist, however, seemed really soothing and reassuring. Trustworthy. Edit: Apologies. Got him confused with Gollum from LOTR. Couldn't unhear it.

I don't trust mental health professionals in general. Too many misdiagnoses, too many drugs I didn't need, too little care and attention to the actual human being. Also, psychiatrists seem to have a weird knack for picking up doctors with HUGE ego, and they WILL punish their patients for perceived disrespect -- one patient at mental hospital with me spoke up against his psychiatrist once, and he got sent upstairs to where "the REALLY crazy people go". I only saw him one more time after that, he looked like he hadn't slept in days. Mental health is a radioactive dumpster fire in the US, it cannot be said loudly or often enough.

My favorite example is shark attacks are correlated to ice cream sales and consumption. It was a real study. But basically its hot out so more people eating ice cream and at the beach to cool down. Since there's more people at the beach and trying to cool down, there are more people in the water which increases chances of shark attacks. Sharks are not attracted to people who are full of ice cream. But there is a correlation between ice cream sales and shark attacks. Real connection: Hot out. People cool down by ice cream and water. What lives in certain frequented bodies of water? Sharks. Plus its a fact and study based example and you can find videos and a whole bunch of info to back it up.
