Hardwearing !! This band is more than a reflection of an era. It’s a phantom asteroid who returns to set his sights on sound art. A stupendous wave laden with paradoxes from which obscurantism and the irrational escape, hypnotic factors defying vulnerable souls in search of the infinity. This sound architecture is a translucid and short tunnel that leads to light !

I like the psychic ills. I like the BJM. The more music of this kind is produced the better. I don't care who's the knock off. I like the fact that in every psychedelic and indie song somebody starts about the BJM. They are like the velvet underground in the sixties. Most people don't know them but they have influenced every band that has listened to them.
@Rocks4You978 жыл бұрын
That is quite true, even though the Brian Jonestown Massacre is finally getting the recognition it deserved for 20 years.
@Roadghost887 жыл бұрын
I agree it's heavily influence by BJM, who are a great band. I had no idea so many new bands are influenced by them. BJM were heavily influenced by the 60s psychedelic stuff too, Velvet Underground, Iron Butterfly, Clapton, etc. From a personal perspective I would like to see these bands try to remove their sounds a little more from the 60s stuff. Not that it isn't great, but you risk being generic getting too close to their sound.

This song seems like a guy who just broke up with the love of his life and feels fine when on a drug induced trip, but ironically can't get her out of his mind. Hence the repetition of, "I'm doing fine, you're not on my mind" over and over again.

Based on this song, I see why you would compare the two bands. However if you listen to other Psychic Ill songs like Incense Head, Mexican Wedding, and That's Alright -- to name a few -- I think you would retract that statement. I'm sure they wouldn't mind the BJM reference, but I don't imagine they'd get worked up defending themselves as they are very clearly cut from a different mold.
