The writers wanted to make sure that they the bad stuff they did wasn’t laundered like it is in other sitcoms where the characters engage in pretty antisocial behavior but are portrayed as sympathetic anyway. This show just lets us sit with the fact that they’re all bad people 😂 Another show that does this but to an even larger extent is Peep Show. It’s a British show and they’re mostly all terrible people and when you’re watching that show you keep wondering why nothing ever goes right for them and then you finally realize that things shouldn’t go right for them because they’re awful 😂

What makes Pete an important character is that he shows just how much damage the gang has done to people even at a young age. They even completely forgot they were the ones that started the rumors about Pete murdering people. And actively enjoyed Pete terrorizing people. Also the contrast of how the gangs behavior has gotten worse are more psychotic then Pete ever was. And once Pete is not what they thought they try to ruin his life like the other victims of their delusional paradise. Can we also note that Charlie called a stranger a freak, even though he spends the majority of his time in a sewer, stalking a waitress, bashes/Drowns rats, sleeps with his possible Father in the same bed.

Wow after the most recent tragic event I ask my neighbor who’s has a phd in brain stuff on why we don’t make it easier for people to get help with mental problems and he said there was kinda like “food bank” for mental information like go in and ask for help, talk to someone get prescribes or not but not many people used them and when they did they got treated like “Pete” by their community. I live in a college town and the times I've been passed by a car blasting shitty music loud enough to make your teeth rattle are too numerous to count - they'll probably have 50% hearing loss before they hit 40.
