100mm Stroke is way to much for a blown track Car, in my Opinion. 8250 RPM with 94 Stroke os no Problem and with 83mm 9200 is no Problem.

That’s a crazy quick car! Lovely! Interested to know what gearbox model/type are you running? Been considering to up the power on mine but I’m afraid my gearbox won’t handle it! Also what’s the solution for the paddle shifters?
@DrPittenstein
@DrPittenstein Жыл бұрын
It runs a Sadev 6 speed sequential with Geartronics compressed air paddle shift, so is way too noisy for a road car I only ever drive it with a helmet and earplugs. Sadev can be used in the road with a stick as Caterham offer it for their 620r. It is a very strong box rated to about 380bhp but a car as light as a Caterham puts less stress on it so potentially could handle more. Racing is the most brutal test of any component and so far my box has stood up well.
@AliAlBahrani73
@AliAlBahrani73 Жыл бұрын
@@DrPittenstein thanks for the reply! I was just watching a video earlier today talking about the Sadev gearbox! That’s an awesome piece of kit.. I’m still building the car currently and not planning on driving it on the road as well! But I’d always rather go with the full beans option that you have! Been tumbling around the idea of installing a TTS supercharger or stroke it.. but have no idea if my gearbox would handle it… I’m running a very old Elite IL200-6 gearbox.. So, I guess in order to up the power on my car I’m guessing for that old gearbox I’d definitely have to swap it out!
@DrPittenstein
@DrPittenstein Жыл бұрын
@@AliAlBahrani73 if your engine is Ford Duratec then you can take it up to about 300bhp with a 2.3 build but they get more reliable under 300bhp, less reliable over it. With a supercharger you can easily get over 350bhp. Sadev is the best choice for both, very strong box also very light and compact ideal for Caterham. I hope to see a video of your car when it’s done!
@AliAlBahrani73

@@DrPittenstein that’s perfect thanks for letting me know.. looks like the next plan would be to stroke it and supercharge it :D.. fingers crossed that my gearbox can handle that power! Hopefully once it’s done will upload some stuff but I’m guessing that will take me a while to complete this project as it was kind of a “barn find” been sitting idle since 2011

Thanks. Quick as a McLaren Senna around Silverstone and bigger supercharger means more power is easy but being a race car we need to balance power with grip. Not convinced another 100whp would actually lower laptimes much but would be fun to try.
@jareknowak8712
@jareknowak8712 4 жыл бұрын
Probably it would be faster with 20mm wider tires at the rear. I think that on the older engine the rev limiter was a little bit to high. If it would be 300, maybe 500 rpm lower, the valve problem will not took place. Excuse my English.

For me, the idea of pushing more power into the CSR suspension package is a no brainier. The 260 CSR had far more predictable slip angles than the R500, which really suits a more capable driving style. This is a wonderful piece of engineering that completely confirms the ‘outside’ CSR philosophy that Caterham has sadly discarded. Well done!
@DrPittenstein
@DrPittenstein 3 жыл бұрын
Much appreciated. Shame Caterham don't have the cash or confidence to invest in the CSR. So much potential. We have made big strides with the car this year. We tried a smaller pulley on that blower and it made a huge number on the dyno but sadly didn't last long on the track. Felt very perky while it lasted. It has forced our hand to fit a bigger Rotrex blower for next year, we were at the limit of the C30-94. Limit for circuit racing anyway. New C38 blower should make more boost at lower rpm and run cooler. Biggest surprise so far is the relatively cool intake temps, we have water injection but it wasn't used for the whole of last season. Other than difficulty launching the CSR chassis handles 370bhp with ease. With the supercharger set up it works out at around 300bhp at the wheels.

The car lapped Brands Hatch Indy in 48.6 on worn tyres. On slicks it could easily be a 46 something. You need something with wings to lap faster. This car lapped Spa in 2.35, again on treaded tyres. Still find it hard to believe myself!

Similar power to before but all happens at lower rpm. Boost is now just 1bar and max rpm is 7400. The 2.0 was 1.4 bar and 8600rpm, exciting but didn't last as you can see! This is also just a starting point we are going to try methanol injection to keep inlet temps down and could easily increase boost for more power but reliability must come first. Will need to get traction control working too for more power, at the moment it fries the tyres in 2nd gear without it. More power would mean wheelspin in 3rd and would be slower out of corners. Corner speed is much more important than bhp for laptime as you know.

Fantastic! One question, the 2.5 has larger intake ports Vs the 2.0, so did you transfer the previous intake set-up over using an adaptor or start afresh with larger diameter ITBs ?
@DrPittenstein
@DrPittenstein 4 жыл бұрын
Tried Jenvey’s off the shelf intake manifold for the 2.5 but it was too long for this application there wasn’t room under the bonnet. Boss fabricated a billet aluminium adapter plate so we could carry over the very high spec original custom intake parts.

What's going on with the exhaust why is it coming out the front? The Ford Motor what vehicles do they put that in look out for one in the scrap and standard supercharger boost what is that set at and how much further can you adjust it. Thanks looks like a nice motor do you know of any private caterhams for sale. What do you think is the best bushes to use polyurethane. Being a bit out of it these days things have moved on. Do you know what the valve throw is on the standard engine diameter of valves and do they come semi ported gas flowed the heads.
@DrPittenstein
@DrPittenstein 4 жыл бұрын
In our experience the 2.5 Duratec comes with remarkably good gas flow as standard, definitely better than the 2.0 which is hard to get hold of now. They still make the 2.5 in Mexico but who knows for how much longer. Boost is currently around 1 bar and makes 365bhp. We tried a 5mm smaller pulley, boost shot up, 404bhp on the dyno but didn't last on track. For more power we need to fit a larger Rotrex supercharger.
