I actually tend to take some explosive ammo when I run the martini, I mainly use the long ammo for pvp, but the explosive ammo is nice for just blowing window shutters and doors open which helps myself and my team catch defending players and estimate wall bangs.

Imo this should be the only use for explosive ammo. Breaching windows and doors. The insane splash damage was horrible on console and still is with the explo crossbow although its less of a problem because of reload times. Getting rewarded for missing shots is not really something I'd encourage in a game like this.

@@tableslayergaming eh I think it should still kill a person with a headshot like normal ammo, as well as be really good at quickly clearing AI like Meatheads/bosses/ and he'll I think the explosion should be able to 1 shot multiple dogs. It's a massive "hey I'm right here" ammo type so at least give it really solid pve utility, maintain some basic pvp functionality, IE headshot do 1 shot, but make the splash less deadly to players so you can't just hit the ground and kill one target.

@@Kingofredeyes i mean yeah ofcourse, normal bullet damage should apply including one shot headshots. Dogs thing would be impossible as you'd have to increase splash damage again which I am not a fan of. It should basically be like the poison or fire ammo types, you trade penetration for a somewhat useful effect. In this case you would gain the ability to destroy windows/doors and maybe an easy way to clear meatheads as they usually "block off" certain entrances aswell. It would basically be an ammotype that unlocks "opportunity" rather than a direct effect like burn or poison. Idk if it does this but it should also clear concertina.

That way you don't have to effect the pvp damage of it while giving it the utility. Over all I agree it should be a utility ammo that creates opportunity as oppose to a pvp ammo that murders players.

I used to LOVE running explosive ammo on the Martini Henry... then the ammo got nerfed, not just nerfed but nuked into the land of useless memes. It went from borderline OP to nearly useless.

With the big difference that it was never OP, it made two bad Guns without a proper place usefull (Martini and Springfield). I enjoyed explosive Ammo on these Guns so much. They need 2 different Versions for the game. Explosive was never an issue on PC got killed by it twice before the nerf and twice after... i killed myself more often with explosive pre nerf than anyone else killed me :-D Nerf on PC was so unnecessary.

It was capable of one shotting (pre-nerf) even with a chest shot from a Martini simply because it did base damage+additional splash damage (which the Dev's admitted and corrected about 6 weeks after it's release). The splash damage alone from the Martini was in excess of 100 damage at 1 1/2 meters. Hunter's couldn't reliably take cover after suffering any damage because the splash damage had too large a radius and not enough falloff on the damage, and forget about trying to rez a team mate from less than total cover if the enemy could hit any spot within 2 meters of their body... it was rezz farmers paradise. Post nerf it's a joke... fanning an Uppercut with explosive rounds into any boss does less than a single round from a shotgun with pennyshot.

of course, you have trouble with exp rounds if you are using the uppercut. even though the uppercut and the martini henry use the same round, the exp rounds are different. the direct hit stats are different, and if training mode can be considered a good comparison to the stats of the real game, then also the radius for the splash. the direct body hit for the martini henry exp, should be 138 dmg points at least to body hits. how much of the splash would be added, i don't know. another thing would be to look at the Springfield version. since the Springfield has a short barrel version, and the exp rounds are cheaper, you could run a martini or sparks and a springfield compact with exp rounds.

I think this loadout may be better when reversed with the uppercut as the main long ammo hitter and the matini as the explosive ammo gun as the explosion will be much bigger and deal more damage.

22:26 theres another way to dmg him with sticky. A random i had from hunt discord said you can stand by the entrance, throw fire at him & then toss the sticky into the fire. Deals 75% of his health. Not even close to as easy as sticky the other bosses tho, but possible.

When explosive ammo came out i loved taking double medium slot Springfield's each with explosive ammo. It wasnt good but it was so much fun. I dont play explosive ammo as much anymore because its an expensive downgrade now, but one can hope maybe one day Crytek will find the sweet spot for explosives ammo.

I want to know why Crytek let dumdum ammo for the nitro 1 tap at 80m and still pens but nerfed uppercut explosive so badly its actually a nerf to play. Like it can't even headshot but the dumdum nitro gets increased 1 tap range. There is clearly no rhyme or reason to the special ammos.

Because explo ammo you just shoot at the floor and deal damage, nitro u still have to aim through a horrible scope and line up the upper torso shot. Xplo ammo got nerfed because shooting twice at the enemy's feet granted u a kill.

@@dustindutton5780 This video is from the most recent build of the game in which xplo ammo has been nerfed, TWICE from how bad it was. Back when they introduced it, double springfield compact with xplo ammo was unbeatable. Two shots remotely around the enemies feet would kill and that Bulwark had no considerable effect on it. As for the nitro, it's an expensive weapon which's one quality is one tappin players, the penetration is also not really a factor, since most of the times ur fighting a nitro, dum dum or not, u'd be dead anyway .

Yeah the explosive ammo is in quite a sorry state. Haven't used it much since the test server when it could one shot to body out of a Martini Henry. Fun times... Only actual use case I've found for it is in Springfield compact and use it as a breaching tool to open window shutters and locked doors.

Really wanna see a meme load out I came up with at like 2am. It’s called the “IDF” or indirect fire, where you run a bomb lance and either a drag arrow bow or explosive crossbow. Ideally you would run in a squad and stick to outside the compound and lob rounds like a mortar man into targets your teammates spot for you.

Explosive ammo was nerfed on console to, at least on xbox but I'm pretty sure it's cross-play between consoles. I use to run explosive ammo on the Springfield but it's not as good anymore. It says it still does more damage in the store but it dosent and I use to and still run explosive ammo on the uppercut on 1 of my builds.

The little low budget is doble spring with explosive. or shotgun with bleed and the explosive. Spark with shotgun bleed too. There's soo many variation i use. This game provides the meme loadouts and they are always the best ones in my opinion

Then you run fmj winning and it's a terror for ppl you hit. Because there's no cover they can use. Try it see for yourself man killed some sweaty leader board players 3 games in a row and they finally got me and t-bagged me for like 3 minutes straight.
