Recently someone asked him in an interview what he liked the most about being a dad. And his answer was something about "participating in the perpetuation of humankind by giving your DNA" or something like that. Something completely disconnected from the actual experience of being a dad. He is pretty scary to me.

Yeh. It really bothers me that he has been bringing children into the world in almost a mechanical way. With multiple women, and strange reasons. Like there is no actual love or feeling towards his kids. It is indeed scary.

Elon used his daddy's emerald fortune to buy the car company he renamed Tesla. Elon never designed a rocket. He bought and renamed the company. Even the Boring Company, the one that actually makes money, isn't his idea. Thank goodness for daddy's fortune.

Dr. Honda, I know you will get lots of hate for doing this deep dive. But stay strong. I don't agree with you on many things. I'm pretty conservative and right leaning. But I still like listening to you and I appreciate your analysis on things. Yes, I've felt you've been biased about certain things and that's natural and normal. I take that into consideration when forming my own opinion . I still find your work informative . I'm open to listening and learning other peoples point of views. So keep at it. Ignore the harsh comments. People should respect the fact that this is YOUR channel and you should have the freedom to have a conversation the way you want to have it. Good Luck. My theory is that he bought Twitter and the world saw who he was and public perception started to shift. Now he gets a lot of hate which has made him bitter and resentful. He's now lashing out at society like a toddler via Twitter. He's now a "Disaster Capitalist" and is just harming society because he's not a cool kid anymore.

Good intro to Elon's businesses. I think it was fair. My take on him as a person is that he has very few actual principles and is just desperate to be worshipped. I think that the left is more critical of people even on our side and less likely to hero worship and that is the main reason for his flip.

I feel like it has to be rare to be a good person that becomes a billionaire. I don’t think it’s unheard of, there are people who have reached billionaire status that I like or at least have positive opinions of, but I think for a lot of them, they learned how to game the system and aren’t afraid to step on and over people to get to where they want to go. And I wonder if the richer you get, the more out of touch you become and the easier it is to reason with causing harm.

I think it’s more complicated than that. He does seem to actually care about sustainabile energy and the environment. He’s also had a major impact on the future of sustainable technology and energy through Tesla. If he can figure out autonomous driving, that would substantially reduce vehicular deaths and injuries. He’s working on helping disabled people to see and do other things through nuerolink (although from what I hear, the technology doesn’t work well yet).
@ShimmerBodyCream
@ShimmerBodyCream 5 ай бұрын
@@andedom Villains are complicated - and we all have the hero and villain archetype present in our psyche. The prototypical villain characteristics include self aggrandizement, desire for power, self-interest at the detriment of the wider population, and destruction on a large scale. I think you could safely argue almost any billionaire is a villain because of global dynamics and how we exploit one section of the population for the enrichment of a very small elite. Elon wants to continue the hierarchal system of exploitation, he brags about firing people, he has many children that he doesn't spend time with, he actively uses his business to influence world events to benefit himself, etc. It makes a lot of sense to consider him a villain because villains are about self enrichment. I would agree that no one truly is a villain or a hero - these are simply labels we use to create ideals of behavior as a social animal.

So glad you're doing this, and I'm with Beto on this. AFAIK Musk never studied anything STEM-related outside of highschool. And the code he wrote for PayPal was so bad it had to be thrown away and re-written. He may be "smart", whatever that means. But he sure isn't knowledgeable in any of his businesses, and if Twitter is an example - willing to get rid of professionals in favor of people who boost his ego, at the expense of the actual product...

I came to have a view that EM and I (and many of my friends) were in the same 'tribe'. I jumped into computing in the mid-70's, and we all shared an interest in scifi, the same computer jokes, logic riddles, the same culture, that of being nerdy guys, willing to delve deeply into a body of knowledge. In the last few years going from that to feeling like if some good folks could take him aside over a beer, we could talk him down, to genuine puzzlement over his support of far-right figures. The Twitter takeover was bad but his echoing of the Paul Pelosi slander was the turning point for me. Maybe he was mugged by a liberal. In any case, the man holds his grudges mightily. The question you pose is the same one I do: how did this shift occur?

A lot of information isn't openly shared. You'll never find it. For example, you won't find anything about the LORD Corporation and his mishandling of adhesives from that company, creating massive safety issues, then trying to blame LORD corporation, LORD corporation came out to try to solve the issue, and Musk was like an abusive weirdo who wanted these LORD corp employees to solve an issue but wouldn't let Tesla employees talk to LORD corp people... Wouldn't show them around... like invites them there and hides everyone and everything. Acted so weird. He was storing the separate parts of adhesive (its not premixed, for many reasons) in hot pole barns in Nevada desert although they cannot be stored at that temperature, but he wanted to do it cheaply, it's all he had, doesn't heed warnings or instructions, doesn't care. Didn't care about safety. He might hire good people, but he muzzles them, then fires them. Also, he buys pieces of old assembly lines from Ford and other automotive companies, pieces parts, all these companies make fun of him and aren't afraid of Tesla because they are literally death traps. You cannot take parts of multiple assembly lines that cannot work together. Assembly lines are all different and engineered down to the micron. You cannot mix bits of separate assembly lines in the way he is doing it. I know these things because I am closely knitted into these communities through my career. And this is tip of the iceberg. I will never get into a Tesla. I am terrified by how people think he even talks wisely about things; he doesn't. He is a megalomaniac.
@puddlesplasher7
@puddlesplasher7 5 ай бұрын
May I also add, he didn't care about the outcome... he just bought assembly line portions to keep investors fleeced, get some deliverables (cars) appearing to be completed, but if you guys recall, that was delayed delayed delayed and the first ones caught on fire and had adhesives fail that held batteries and stuff (oh and he decided he'd use the mishandled adhesive ingredients anyway although told not to by manufacturer) .... He knew this would happen. It's all show biz baby, fleecing the investors. I don't know what he actually does care about. That's why I'm listening in, to hear y'all's perspectives.

JUST HAD TO AGREE SO MUCH with something mentioned about people in power. It's really hard to have the technical knowledge in business or engineering to actually solve a problem. The humble work of making sure things add up is harder.

This is the first time I am commenting on your videos, psychology in seattle. I like that you called out that extreme polarization is not a good thing to have. We all have very different definitions of what’s moral and ethical and that may certainly play into this dynamic we are in. What are the moral obligations of CEOs and business people? We are in a capitalistic society and if we judge someone based on the premise of capitalism, one who makes the most amount of money for themselves is good. But we, as humans, do operate in a capitalist way (we try not to, to the extent we can though many aspects of our lives are commodified by the bigger people anyway) and we look at Elon with a more human lens. And then we may find him distasteful. And I wonder if such people know if human beings exist outside of being resources. And have we, as a society, failed. I would love to know your interpretations of morality here. Please correct me if i am wrong - I think we use the term ‘psychopath’ colloquially to refer to a person who has no regard for others and is also likely very immoral. And that implies that we expect people, these CEOs, to be moral. And are CEOs moral? Why does Elon Musk have our attention to this much of an extent that other CEOs never did? What’s with these personality cults? I am very interested in your upcoming videos and I hope I can adopt a more nuanced view with your help instead of writing him off as a villain. (I wish we could have some philosophers also here ). Huge fan!

DR. HONDA!! You’re talking about Elon, yeeesss! I personally have the biggest case of cognitive dissonance with EM. I LOVE him because of his space endeavors - I’m especially inspired by/fond of the Falcon Heavy project. The double booster landing… 😮‍💨 Wow. The Inspiration4 mission… Also wow. Just some humans going on a short trip to space nbd. It’s mind-bogglingly cool to me. So cool. (The Netflix documentary on Inspiration4 might still be up - worth a watch!) The trouble for me personally comes from the inability to reconcile his contributions to space and tech, with his divisive public persona. I’ve accepted that I don’t have to reconcile these opposing views. My brain wants to do that so I can just relax 😂 but ah well. I wish he would just focus on his strengths, and stay away from politics and other things. Politically-speaking, I’m a life-long liberal. 34. I know you like data, so here’s mine 😂😁

Nice video, but what do you say to the fact that there were many engineers at Tesla who said "full self driving" will not work on the timeline that Musk was promoting? And actually it's dangerous to falsely promote such safety critical product prematurely. And many if not most of these engineers were fired. Obviously Elon Musk doesn't know what he is talking about or is Elon actually brilliant but was just putting out nonsense to just pump up Tesla stock price? Either way it's pretty damning.

Agreed, Musk is more of an Edison than a Tesla. While Edison bought ideas, Tesla had original thoughts and created them. However, Musk was not an illegal immigrant to the U.S. He came to the U.S. on an F1 student visa while attending school. After dropping out of Stanford, he transitioned to an H-1B (worker) visa. He later obtained an EB-5 (immigrant investor) visa and became a U.S. citizen in 2002 after marrying an American. There was a period where he didn’t have a visa, which is when he stopped working and started the business with his brother. That time frame is undocumented.

The thing about SpaceX is that they keep getting these big government contracts even though their success rate is abysmal relative to NASA. They're pouring money into a company who only gets the job done every once in awhile.

Sweet Jesus... Humberto is definitely locked inside an echo chamber and he doesn't know it. Kirk is alluding to it but he just doesn't bite. It does make sense for someone who sees another person as a Santa Claus to hate them later when confronted with a real human being, so in both cases not allowing that real human to reach their intelect.
@phonuz
@phonuz 4 ай бұрын
It was true. I was trapped in the echo chamber for quite a while, and even made some money on TSLA stock. But right around 2018 it started to get hard to ignore the rays of light punching through the chamber walls. Now it is unbelievable that a large number of people pretend they are still inside of a chamber when in reality they are exposed to the full UV reality. But this is what con artists can pull off: they can convince you real is not.

Why aren't other billionaires diversified and taking chances? They are. You just don't hear about it. OR, these other billionaires aren't ADHD. OR, these other billionaires are primarily interested in money, not entrepreneurial adventures; OR these other billionaires made their money in one golden area and don't want to risk it; OR these other billionaires love competing for wealth and not for blazing star risk-taking; OR these other billionaires have NEVER actually managed their own companies-- they've hired competent managers; OR, OR, OR. My dad was a longshoreman, lay preacher, livestock farmer, built two houses himself, piano tuner and musician all at the same time. LOTS of people are able to take chances, tolerate loss, try to do good in the world, etc. etc. etc. Haven't you guys been paying attention to the bullshit artists that were on the front of Time or Financial News or whatever who turned out to be massive scammers? Wow. One born every minute.

Discuss all the scams he's been part of, like SolarCity, Hyperloop, and the perpetual promise of 'self-driving cars next year.' He's a smart manipulator, but the ideas behind his projects come from other people-this is a fact. He's not an engineer, nor is he a programmer. You should look into statements from people who used to work with him and have since left. For instance, if you didn’t know, NASA achieved vertical rocket landing over 50 years ago. He frequently lies, and yet no one seems to fact-check him. Many people fall for it because they’re simply too trusting.

The trigger warning that you’d be hard on Elon. I’ll move on and wish you well. Sorry to have announced the departure. That isn’t a thing for me.
