When Britney is bringing up Miley, I think she is referring to the fact that the younger generation of pap stars can do “controversial” things and still maintain their autonomy, not be punished for it, or even face consequences in the media, whereas when Britney was at Miley’s age/state of fame NONE of those things were true, and she is still being punished for things that she said or did that were controversial many years ago. That is why she follows it up with “I work so hard to be so good and so pretty”. She is trying to communicate that there is a double standard and that she has been punished with the conservatorship that she is currently in for behaviors that her younger contemporaries do freely without hesitation or consequence.

Miley has done a lot of things in the public eye that aren’t “socially acceptable” and seem completely “out there”, but she still controls her own life. Not sure if Britney was thinking about Miley’s dad when she brought up that example, but Billy Ray has always been super protective and supportive of Miley, which Britney never had the luxury of experiencing.

It is a new form of inquisition by therapists and lawyers who are suspect. Finland open dialogue therapy heals psychosis without drugs. The drugs seem like induced autism. There is too much secrecy. If you listen to what the lawyers and judges have said you will find that they are wildly off. They speak in distortions and fallacies regularly. It is common nonsense in courts. And can cause psychosis. It is control freakery. It is common in alcoholic families for a scapegoat to be falsely accused of being bipolar. The gaslighting is crazy making. The lawyer admitted to lying to her. There are alternative treatments. More is being learned all the time. Q96 is one option. Joan Mathews Larson. Dr Ross. Open dialogue family therapy. Some peoples life falls apart because they are targeted by sociopaths who smear them as stupid crazy bitches. Dr. Honda, I think you missed a potential explanation for Brittney not wanting to be evaluated again that has nothing to do with a mental health diagnosis. Most of her concerns are related to her lack of autonomy of her own body. She has been poked and prodded and in a sense ‘owned’ by the public her whole life. So not submitting to another evaluation may be her way of trying to exert some sense of control over herself and reclaim some privacy. Not to mention just being completely exhausted and traumatized by everything she’s been through and just wanting to be left alone and not picked apart or analyzed anymore. I was misdiagnosed as bipolar 9 years ago and the psychiatrist tried to recommend I be removed from university because I was failing classes…when I had only failed one test. Of course I was angry with him. Everything I said or did as a reaction to him involving himself like that in my life was blamed on me being bipolar and not wanting to take medication I didn’t need. It was later diagnosed as adhd. And the stuff that the previous doctor wrote in my medical file still comes up even when it isn’t quite right. He asked if I ever got drunk and I honestly answered “yes”. He labeled me as an alcoholic. You can’t change records even if they are wrong. I really feel for her. We don’t know everything, but it’s awful when people won’t believe you. Especially when you are actually in the right state of mind and people disregard what you say because a doctor is more believable. She obviously isn’t comfortable with her doctor/therapist. That’s scary. It’s all speculation though…I guess.

Its dangerous to say this.... because then any doctor or lawyer may say this in court "but I DONT KNOW whether it is the case here",...so now we may "label" her as mentaly fragile and take all her money..... Plus the nerves of addressing the court, and trying to relay all the relevant information (which is hard to do clearly when you are under enormous stress) not to mention the ongoing trauma and PTSD. It's likely due to a high degree of anxiety at trying to get out as many of her experiences as possible and, being accustomed to being cut off if not also ignored, she's trying to say as much as possible. It's also the first time she's been able to address the Court whilst knowing it's recorded for the general public to hear. Some people assume that because she's an experienced performer that she should be calm and collected under all situations but this petition involves highly personal matters from her medication to gynaecological issues and Britney's probably justifiably worried about this being her only opportunity to get this conservatorship ended.

I always loved dr. Honda but I find this video troubling at times. I understand it was not the intention but by speculating so heavily on her diagnosis and scrutinising her statements under a strict symptomatic bipolar diagnosis, the message that comes across is that people affected by mental illnesses should have no human rights or freedom whatsoever. I, too, if I was in her shoes, would be emotional and agitated if I were given one chance every two years to speak my case for why I deserve bodily autonomy. Even if she does have a diagnosis and is highly symptomatic, that should not be a reason to deny her basic human rights, such as not being forced to work against her will and under the threat of losing even more personal freedom - if anything she should be allowed more time away from performing and a business that is even in the best of cases still highly exploitative for vulnerable women. It is inappropriate for her conservators to directly profit off of her work, which they deem her competent in and capable of doing, while simultaneously claiming her dementia (the condition they used to claim her conservatorship 13 years ago) is incapacitating we enough they have full conseratorship over her personhood instead of just her assets, which would be more understandable and humane for someone in her position.

If she is now, it is understandable for her to be upset and nervous and really angry. That can make her mess up her words because she is trying to get through this. I can't see her mess ups during this audio as a way to judge her stability. Seems unfair. I would have been locked up long ago if that were the case because I am a horrible speaker. Secondly, you mentioned Kanye West is bipolar, which she is suspected of having. No one has ever mentioned a conservatorship even when he says he refuses medication and people don't seem to want to intervene because people say it will mess up his musical 'genius' this seems so sexist. So many celebrities have made super controversial choices, and she is the only one who was forced into a conservatorship in exchange to keep her children close. Lastly, this seems like disability rights issue. Whether she suffers from a mental illness, this is obviously not to her benefit. She is suffering, she is telling you so. Her dad has filed for bankruptcy in the past, and was given control over her fortune, a dad she never had a good relationship with. How is that to her benefit? She can keep making them so much money, performing and creating choreography and teaching her dancers said choreography, and yet she is too ill to make choices over her body and her treatment? That is what he is saying. It doesn't matter what Miley did, it matters that the court can see that she's competent, capable, made so much progress that she doesn't need the conservatorship anymore. She is not making the case for hereself well. She's actually showcasing to the judge here poor tracking, obstinateness, confusion, refusal to the very things that would help her get rid of the conservatorship. How is the judge supposed to follow or know why she's referencing Miley or VMAs etc etc? The manicures? She's definitely lost in her own world and that's disheartening.

What I find perhaps the most concerning is that someone who has bipolar disorder is made to work 7 long days a week for a longer period of time. If she is highly symptomatic, that is barely possible, and perhaps they are using her for slave labor. Or, if she is not symptomatic, overworking her is a good way to get her into mania. Someone with difficult bipolar needs to have proper rest to keep good diurnal rhythms. Lack of sleep and exhaustion are a recipe for mania, which usually causes even more lack of sleep, which worsens the mania until finally there is a collapse.

For people who are following this situation and feeling upset at what Britney is enduring, I encourage you to also look more into disability movements as well. The disability community has long been fighting for changes to the conservatorship system, as it is rife with abuses. Disabled people are very vulnerable to having their agency removed; even people who need many supports still deserve agency as well. Many disabled people are subject to abusive conservatorships that remove their autonomy and most don't have the publicity or resources that Britney Spears does, so have even less ability to fight it. This is a well known problem in the disability justice world. Please stand in solidarity with disabled people and prioritize our voices when learning about and amplifying these issues. Her statements regarding her father make perfect sense after I read the third party accounts in Ronan Farrow’s piece in the New Yorker. There are witnesses who report that once he got her into the conservatorship he bullied her, called her fat and some other pretty unsavory terms, and then threatened to cut off access to her kids if she didn’t comply. He’s been holding that over her head for 13 years. Also, some parents are NOT benevolent. I’m sure this comes as no surprise to you. But until you’ve actually *lived* under the control of a super controlling parent, you have no idea how it feels. It is crazy making. And then that parent can point to your reaction abs say, “see, I told you she was crazy”. If Britney has BP, she needs to learn to manage her symptoms. But if she’s reacting to an over controlling narcissistic parent, she needs to manage her interactions with her parent. She should have the right to not have him in her life. That’s what she is saying here. A lot of children of narcissistic parents have had to go “no contact” for their sanity. California is preventing her from divorcing her parent. This is the thing I find most outrageous. I can’t IMAGINE a worse kind of existence than being an adult who has to live under the control of a narcissist with the state reinforcing the arrangement indefinitely. This is how i see this situation. She doesn’t want her father controlling her life. She isn’t asking for the end of the conservatorship-yet. But give it time. She’s starting to figure things out. And sometimes it takes a whole lifetime to figure out that your life is in the hands of a manipulative narcissist. The person who needs the psych evaluation for a personality disorder is Jamie and what California is putting Britney through must be pure torture bipolar disorder notwithstanding.

@@NN-zk4uz no, because other reasonable (and likely) interpretations for her presentation during this testimony are ignored and that robs her of dignity and autonomy. She is likely talking fast because she is nervous and has been shut down from complaining for 13 years. She is likely (more than likely, probably) bring up other pop culture icons to create examples and analogies about her experiences and receptions with respect to theirs - not because she is manic and making disconnected statements, she is saying she is great at choreography because SHE IS and is saying so to refute the claims by her team that she doesn’t dance in practice - not because she is having delusions of grandeur. There are a lot of things going wrong in this video centering around the Dr.’s insistence of speculating about the cause of the substance Britney’s presentation in court *necessarily* as symptomatic bipolar disorder. There are many many equally likely causes for why she is presenting this way, and not all of these causes are indicative of her suffering from a diagnosis that has never even been revealed to the public. There has never been any confirmation that Britney suffers from bipolar and none of the released documentation indicates that is what she is suffering from, if she suffers from anything. The only confirmed allegation of mental disorders is the fact that her dad claimed she had dementia at age 26 on the conservatorship application. 13 years later, we see this woman obviously does not have dementia or she’d have very noticeable disability by now, as that is a degenerative disease. What the above comments are pointing out is that is was actually pretty irresponsible to interpret Britney’s presentation the way Dr. Honda did here, and this video is representative of the way professionals in the field who unjustifiably and unreasonably relegate behavior to manifestation of some assumed disgnosis effectively disable clients from being considered to provide reliable accounts of their experience. It’s very dangerous territory if people start thinking others with supposed diagnoses cannot recount their own lives without their reports having been affected by their supposed diagnoses. It truly does strip someone’s ability to advocate for themselves if nobody will take their word for what it is, even when there is plenty of reason to believe their account to be true, which is the case here

There is no public confirmation of her diagnosis, so no amount of research is going to give him that answer. I don't have mania but if I were her I'd probably find myself talking in that manner as well at times. This is an INCREDIBLY emotional ordeal. She's fighting for her life and all odds are against her. I get trying to consider all sides of this but I kind of get the feeling Dr. Kirk leans more towards her having a mental illness that justifies her conservatorship. He seems to get REALLY stuck/fixated on the idea of her being bipolar. I think this discounts her entire experience leading up to this situation. She even EXPLAINS WHY she doesn't want to be subjected to ANOTHER evaluation where in the end they'll just do what they're paid off to do anyway and I think her concerns about that are totally valid even if they're not practical for how the process/system works. You HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO consider the incredible amount of trauma and lack of support and care before her conservatorship even started. I doubt she even knows how to properly regulate her emotions with all she's been through & the shady people around her. The more I think about this the more I don't like that this recording was even analyzed at all.

Yeah, this is….kind of upsetting actually. It really feels like he’s discrediting everything she says because she “might” be bipolar (and therefore somehow cannot be trusted, is lying/exaggerating/not able to perceive reality??). Which is fucking terrifying, especially coming from a therapist. If this theory deserves so much consideration, why isn’t her trauma and history of treatment that lead up to this be taken into consideration just as heavily? And even if she is bipolar, it is NOT a justification for her conservatorship. Its NOT a justification of the slavery and abuse she’s in, & it is NOT a justification for not being heard or believed or taken seriously/trusted. His speculations are not truly objective because he’s clearly leaning towards not trusting what she says based on textbook knowledge rather than the actual situation at hand. It isn’t being looked at as holistically as it should. Bipolar or not she deserves rights point blank period. If she wants to fuck up her life, shouldn’t she have the right to do so?? ITS HER FUCKING MONEY!!!! This whole thing exists because her family & others are feeding off her money. That’s it. Its really not hard to see. OH BUT HER NERVOUSNESS SOUNDS LIKE MANIA IN OTHERS SO WHAT CAN WE BELIEVE? Disappointing. How hard is it to consider nervousness? Or talking fast so you can say everything you need (after being silenced for YEARS) without being cut off? Or how bout this, TELLING THE TRUTH JUST TO HAVE EVERYONE AROUND YOU SAY YOU’RE LYING AND PULL THE REINS OF CONTROL EVEN TIGHTER. How many of y’all can speak clearly, calmly, and with perfect articulation when you’re nervous as hell and deeply upset and fighting for your rights and autonomy after 13 years have already been stolen? Also so incredibly tone deaf ignoring the blatant sexism happening with this situation in general & historically. This whole conservatorship was on the claims of her having dementia. cmon. There were also moments he just COMPLETELY misheard her & rode off with it…ugh. I grew up in the 90s but wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a Britney fan, so those comments were pretty disappointing too. She can’t say anything without it being under the lens of MAYBE being bipolar/symptomatic, which somehow discredits her experience? It means she’s lying? A lot of assumptions without any research it seems. Why comment on a case when you have minimal information on it? A waste imo. :( Emily D. Another management company has been brought in as a joint conservator of her estate. It's currently a joint conservatorship because of the complexity of her estate so there needs to be some knowledge transfer, at least that is the reasoning of the court.

Most normal guardianship (our state’s equivalent) if the person wants a new guardian try get a new guardian, normally a bank if they are unsure of who they want but don’t want to work with their guardian anymore. But here, instead of letting that happen, her father keeps fighting against her legally. I’ve never seen that happen ever… and all I do is work with individuals with disabilities.

@@illuminaughty9124 I can't understand why the judge won't help her. The statement I read was basically an exercise in how to say "get tf outta my face" in legalese. The current arrangement is obviously not benefiting her, and quite possibly making things worse. Anyone fighting against the person he has control over should be a flashing red neon warning sign. I'm a dog groomer, and even I can see that. I don't know much about her music, but my heart goes out to that young woman. She seems to have no agency or advocates at all. Do you know if guardianships monitored by anyone? Or can the person in charge do whatever they want without oversight? How does one get out of that sort of arrangement without a lawyer or even an advocate?

I couldn't finish this video, Kirk this is a case which you either don't comment on or you deep dive and get the facts straight. It doesn't work to speculate when theres so much factual evidence out about her situation. Just saying, it doesn't take long to research if you do want to make an educated reaction video, as opposed to a disappointing one.
@prtdiva3 жыл бұрын
But he didn’t speculate. He said several times he doesn’t know and the video didn’t give him any new evidence. Just because he didn’t blow smoke up everyone’s ass and hop on the free Britney train doesn’t mean he’s speculating. Hell, we’re ALL speculating because none of us, whether we’re pro or against Britney, know what’s really going on behind closed doors. I hope she gets her freedom AND I also don’t think she’s as well as she’s claiming to be. I just don’t think she needs all of these restrictions if people like Kanye are out here walking around free.
@kristin123a3 жыл бұрын
But there isn’t much factual evidence for her mental health. Of course everyone including Kirk sees that something is wrong if she’s able to work this much yet they control her ever move. Still, there isn’t “so much factual evidence” available to us.

How much of this is just keeping her as stable as they can so she can keep supporting all of them? I've been a foster mother for a few kids who were very psychologically unstable and the State would do absolutely NOTHING to step in with conservatorships to them safe from themselves, and they were far more vulnerable than Britney has ever been. Given the amount of money involved Britney has a pretty good point. Courts sure don't do much for the poor kids.
@haleymist093 жыл бұрын
At every cross roads, Britney was given a heart-rendering decision: work or can't see your kids; take meds that make you feel off or you're sued; go to inpatient or management won't allow you vacation. Though teams of people and her immediate family DEPEND on her to work and FORCE her to work. This is absolute exploitation. I'll bet anything the dancers and concert team are covered by NDAs and have seen her mistreated. Britney has no one to speak for her and i can't believe her own parents do this!!!!
@DovesEyes6232 жыл бұрын
The fact that the “team” could justify a conservatorship for 13 years and then when she gains counsel like she wanted to, and when he asked for all the records, and Jamie stepped down, that all of a sudden he said the conservatorship should end, that she’s all of a sudden not a threat to herself? All of this is infuriating. I can see this starting with interests of her well being which is why it was initially temporary, however I think the justification to continue it was completely motivated by greed and I definitely hope an independent team investigates so all wrong parties are held accountable.
@kikirani72703 жыл бұрын
Britney has never been medically diagnosed with bipolar disorder, they used dementia as the reason to put the conservatorship in place. Which at that time she was in her mid 20s.

This is so hard to analyze. I typucally use occam’s razor in one of my line’s of thinking when trying to analyze a situation. “The most obvious answer, is usually the right one”. But in this case the 2 opposing situation are the 2 most obvious. 1. She is being abused, or 2. She is truly a danger to herself. The middle ground is also a possibility. She is mentaly unstable, but doesn’t require this degree of control. Or maybe this conservatory relationship was necessary in the beginning but is no longer necessary. Overall, in my opinion, she should have 100% control over her money. She made it. If She wanted to take all of her money and burn it to the ground, its her right. She made it. That is what i don’t understand.

Britney’s concerned about another evaluation because everytime she had an evaluation the conservatorship got increasingly worse. It’s not that she’s hiding anything, it’s that she’s scared that her situation might get worse, which is very possible specially now that she has publicly defied the conservatorship and they might be pissed at her. They have repeatedly made her suffer consequences for being defiant and more than a decades after the conservatorship started this has been her strongest response. At this point, the conservatorship sounds terrible enough and I can’t imagine having to fear the consequences for speaking up, and I’m sure she still left a lot of horrible things out on that hearing. She also easily admitted by herself that she would like to get therapy because she know she could use it - and who wouldn’t after being put through that. This isn’t a “mental health patient that would be dangerous without supervision” situation, not even one bit.

I must admit, I’m really confused about why you’re talking about bipolar so much when no one has ever claimed that that is her diagnosis, nor is her conservatorship tied to any medical capacity declaration. Like, we may speculate about people on reality shows having mental illnesses, but you never really go off talking about them. But here you are kind of reading this entire thing through the lens of “she is bipolar”. I’m having trouble making sense of it.
