It’s so strange how maturity changes your worldview. In 2015-18 I was an 18-21yrs of age boy. I absolutely idolised Conor McGregor. Then as time went on, my mind began to change and well, Conor’s behaviour and overall character became less admirable. At almost 26yrs of age, I could not view Khabib in higher regard. He is the epitome of what it means to be a man.

Indeed, you will know. 4. Certainly, you will know. 5. If you knew with knowledge of certainty. 6. You would see the Inferno. 7. Then you will see it with the eye of certainty. 8. Khabib is a Muslim and lives Islam... he is not practising stoicism but living Islam which is essentially stoic in nature, that's an important distinction to establish. As Muslims our fundamental goal is the purification of our own soul through the test that is life for our inevitable return to our maker after death and the condition of the soul is only the result of the actions we take and the decisions we make through life. Allah (swt) states in the Quran: "(It is He) Who created death and life that He may try you- which of you is best in deeds; and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving," [Quran 67:2] There are two fundamental aspects of the human, the aql -intellect and reason and the nafs - physical desires and appetite. Islamic Scholars describe the relationship like a horse and a rider. The aql (intellect/reason) is like the rider and the nafs (desire/appetite) is like the horse, the rider must tame the horse, just as the aql, the intellect and reason must learn to control, steer and direct the desires, appetite, and ego. It should be noted nafs also includes anger, passion, lust... i.e. the carnal self. The Quran makes a distinction between three types of nafs, I won't go into details but if anyone is interested just google it. In terms of the controversy with his comments on the sexual objectification and degradation of women as ring girls although unpopular is spot on. Or a better example Mohammad Ali, who gladly sacrificed his liberty, his freedom, his heavyweight boxing title, his boxing license for refusing the draft to fight an unjust war in Vietnam due to his Islamic beliefs. History proved him correct, just as it will Khabib, to be on right side of history... I think Malcom X said it best, we have the truth, all we need is time, the rest is inevitable...

@@metalmarten3478 I understand that. The problem is when he starts quoting Stoic philosophers while using Khabib as a poster boy. Let's say I concede to you that Stoicism isn't a religion... If you actually explain the entire philosophy itself to someone like Khabib, he would still take issue with it. Like, for example: where is God in all of this? How do I know what's good and bad? etc. You could argue SOME principles of Stoicism have a place in Islam but it's not taught categorically and in a vacuum like it is presented in the video. So it's a bit insincere to push an ideology on account of someone who doesn't subscribe to it.

@@PsychologyOfTheFight stoicism is surely a hot topic in this exact moment, and it's a great idea of yours to explain it through the world of fighting. Anyway, let me suggest you some new philosophies you can take inspiration from for your next videos. Rationalism, that can help to analyze past fights, study opponents, develop training plans, set goals, and manage emotions. Nihilism, to embrace the uncertainty of the fight, take risks and try new things, and emphasize personal growth and self-improvement (when it comes to nihilism I immediately think about Dan Hooker). Logical positivism, to use scientific evidence to inform training, focus on measurable goals, prioritize technique and strategy, avoid unfounded beliefs or superstitions, and analyze and learn from past fights (in this case, a very scientifical fighter could fit perfectly). And last, Taoism, to emphasize flow and spontaneity, seek balance and harmony, embrace the present moment, cultivate inner stillness and calm, and adapt to changing circumstances (for this, Adesanya could fit I think). Hope I've given you some valuable suggestions, drop a crown if you read it all brother. Have a good one!

You have a purpose in this life brother. Doesn't matter if you are religious or not. The fact that you are a human being. Your body and your mind is a system of systems. Find a way to understand them. I am 39 and learning to understand them aswell. I was where you are right now, and I am still learning. The fact that you've learnt that about yourself says a lot, man. Your tears are your stepping stones. You got it. You are gonna make it and will help others. Good luck brother. You are a light, struggling with darkness but know, in the end, you need both to shine. Hugs and love to you 🤗😘

Stoicism is a part of the Muslim man , and no such athlete showcased that more than Khabib which is why he is beloved among the majority of the Muslim people , stoicism is not an atheistic philosophy cuz Islam does encourage men to be such and you can see that in Hajj and Ramadan fasting . Fantastic video man , I also think a good example of Khabib's stoicism is him taking on Justin Gaethje after his father's death knowing that it's his last fight and battling with the mumps and foot injuries weeks before the fight which definitely puts huge pressure on him and then defeating someone who poses considerable threats to his style (takedown defense , leg kicks , power) dominantly.👑

00:41 Death, Khabib didn't study stoicism, but this philosophy of remembering and accepting death as the ultimate reality comes from Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “When a calamity strikes one of you, then let him say: ‘Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. O Allah, I seek reward with You for my affliction, so reward me for it, and replace it for me with something better' Holy Quran: “Wherever you may be, death will overtake you, even if you should be within towers of lofty construction.” (4:78) We muslims follow this philosophy and Islam is our way of life

But yes what you say is factual and there is more to it, in fact there are many rabbit holes you could go through about what you said but generally debating in the comments sections of youtube, soon comes to no value as people will just read and go, and watch their next entertainment and forget about the truth given to them, Its best to keep the debating to people who well known professional in our deen that will put out posts disproving lies and clarifying info that seems complex for the non believers.

Khabib is awesome. An excellent fighter and human being. That being said, Conor absolutely did get into his head. Conor's trash talk and actions obviously had a massive impact on Khabib. Just look at how he reacted after the fight. Those were not the actions of a man who was not bothered by trash talk. He was deeply effected.
@rickjones641
@rickjones641 Жыл бұрын
Agreed*, but his character also showed again when he apologised for that part. He meant that apology, especially the part to his father. *Interestingly, in his Mike Tyson podcast appearance, Khabib said what angered him to the point where he acted out of anger wasn't Conor's words, but that after saying all those words, he submitted via a tap. Khabib said that if Conor was the warrior he had been portraying himself as, he'd have gone to sleep or simply kept trying to escape... but he gave up and in Khabib's own words "I was not satisfied, I wanted to bite his heart, but he didn't want a war in the end, he just gave up". That offended Khabib and went against his code. That said, all of that was caused by Conor's talk, so ultimately your point that he was affected is bang on.

He was affected by Mcgregor's trash talk .... but not in the way Conor Mcgregor intended. Joe Rogan was on point when he said that Aldo looked emotionally distressed whereas khabib looked like he was ready to go. Khabib even said in one of his interviews that Mcgregor can say whatever he likes but I prayed to God that all I ask was for me to be locked in the cage against this man .... we will talk then. The person who made the video is ultimately right. Khabib had a momentary lapse in judgement after the fight but then went right back to his original character. Conor Mcgregor spiraled into madness.
@rickjones641
@rickjones641 Жыл бұрын
@@onetwo2434 absolutely. I think that McGregor thought he could will himself to win, whereas Khabib put it in the hands of a higher power (rightly or wrongly) and then didn't feel any stress about it -- prepared to accept God's will (in his case) rather than beat himself up over the outcome. Like Saxo Gramatticus' account of viking raiders stating that believing that there was no need to fear -- if they were destined to die that day they would and if not they would have what they went for.Letting go of the outcome takes away fear. Meanwhile McGregor's whole mythos was based on him being unbeatable simply because of who he was, and when it was proven untrue, he was driven to try and escape from his own thoughts, via hedonism, alcohol, drugs and whatever else is eating him up these days. I'm not religious, but I see the meta value in belief, and sometimes wish I had it myself.
