How this song happened: Amy as a teenager was out with friends. A guy hanging out with them that Amy didn't know well looked at her and said "You are not happy are you?" Amy wasn't happy but had been trying not to show it. She was in inner turmoil. She went home and wrote the line "How can you see into my eyes like open doors". That's how the song started. Years later she married the guy. They are still married with a son. The male singer on this song was a guest vocalist. Amy was against having a Male vocalist on any songs, but lost the battle to the record label. Male vocals don't appear on any other Evanescence song. The album it's from Fallen went on to sell 17 million copies and earned the band 2 Grammy awards. Their next two albums topped the American album charts. Amy then started taking breaks away from the limelight. The band came back in 2021 with the album The Bitter Truth and are still selling out huge venues.

I suggest you do a reaction to "Evanescence My Immortal" . I will warn you in advance the song is NOT what you think it is about. Most reviewers react to the song as if it's a break up song.......its not. I'll leave it up to you to decide what it is about.

I'd like to suggest a resction to an Evanescence song called "The End of The Dream" but please do their live version at NovaRock 2022... She starts Acapella and then it evolves to such a powerful song with the band and all specially lyrics are very insightful.

Amy Lee and Evanescence have billions of views because of the things you are talking about. So many troubled people listen to Amy because they believe she knows exactly how they feel. There is comfort to not feel completely alone. Amy Lee has spent her career connecting with so many people. ❤❤❤❤

Awesome analyze. This song was used as the no way out 2003 theme song. When rock took on hogan for the second time. This time with rock being a heel, instead of hogan being the heel

I love this song, it reminds me of my darkest moment and how Im standing today. Great analysis! I recommend you to react to "Chop Suey - System of a Down". From the same era than Evanescence. I think you would have an interesting approach to the meaning (pardon my english, a new subscriber form Spain here!)

Got a suggestion. The band is Manchester Orchestra and the song is The Silence. It’s an absolute masterpiece start to finish. The vocals are amazing and so is the instrumentation and the lyrics are poetry in motion and definitely interested to see what you would pick up from it.❤

Always been a fan of the song. Amy Lee has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever experienced. Back in the day, I was a youth minister who worked to put on conferences for thousands of teens for a weekend. We often did a drama presentation set to music and for This, we use the song as ultimately calling out to God, for him to save us from the darkness, bit our blood to run before we come undone, save us from the nothing that we become. It was quite powerful as the teams took a popular song and saw it in a whole new light. Thanks for this beautiful reaction.

8:03 one fun thing that i never see people mentioning i how here she is clearly asking for help "dont let me die here" and the guy is finally understanding that she needs help, so he goes to help, but as he tried to pull her, to bring her to life, she is trying to pull him down with here and no matter how much he pushes her, she just dohbles her efforts. i feel like it is the feeling of helplesness of being at the bottom, but you are confortable where you are, so while you ask for help to get out of a situation, when someone gives you their hand, you will slowly push them with you since you are so confortable in the way you are from being there so long. 9:54 here we see the one of two decisions you can make, falling with her or letting her go. He let's her go because he does not want to fall with her "wake me up" "wake me up inside - her" "i cant wake up", "wake me up inside - her" "save me" it is an internal struggle with both people being in bad places, but while he tries to wake up and get out mostly on his own, she is totally depending emotionally on him, beggin to be saved, to wake her up, and all that, but he is not in a good place to carry her alongside him, so while he tries to get out, she tries to push him with her, so he let's go
