this song came out while i was admitted at hospital. this song blew up on the radio, and the nurses let it slide a few times, until they deemed the lyrics “too controversial, might trigger people, and had sensitive lyrics”. what happened afterwards was amazing. all of the in-patients including my self verbally fought our way thru that; as in-patients, we all new how incredible these lyrics were because the first few times we heard it ,we would all come circle around the radio in complete silence just to soak in the lyrics and cry. the nurses took that the wrong way and we didn’t stand for that at ALL. we didn’t have phones to listen to our music , so the radio was all we had. and the chances of hearing such a powerful song in a moment of such struggle and need on the radio was slim to none. especially, it being this specific song. the lyrics were so cohesive to everyone there and it meant so much to us. so we literally FOUGHT these nurses to let us listen to this song. it has such a special place and my heart and reminds to keep going and that i am no longer in need of places like that hospital, and that there is hope for my life and that i can pursue my dreams no matter what

Yes, the song is in the perspective of the boy and the suicide hotline agent talking to each other, hence the responding line to “I don’t wanna be alive, I just wanna die today, I just wanna die” being “I want you to be alive, you don’t got to die today, you don’t got to die”

I’m so happy you finally reacted to this, Tom! I cried the first time I watched the music video and I still get tears in my eyes when hearing the song and watching the video. I feel like it’s an important video and it’s one I can relate to. You know, I often feel like life will never get better and that I’ll have to battle mental health issues for as long as I live (and, therefore, that maybe I shouldn’t) but hearing songs like this and hearing you repeatedly say that things will get better at least gives me a little hope (even if I’m not sure I actually believe it yet). I appreciate that. Also, I really like how the chorus changes throughout the song. “I don’t wanna be alive” -> “I want you to be alive” -> “I finally wanna be alive”. All in all, good one! Thank you for reacting to it. 😊

Back in middle school, so 14 years old (19 now) I would re listen to this song over and over almost breaking down in school because of a couple reasons. 7th Grade I was heavily bullied. No one talked to me, and I was figuring out what I wanted for my sexuality. During a Christmas party my father and aunt were talking about how they would disown me and my cousin if we were ever to be gay. I took that deep to the heart even though 2 years after that party he apologized for it meaning it had been in the back of his head for a while, and he didn't find out that I am bisexual till about 5 months ago not by my choosing because I had always been scared. Middle school was not good for me like I said 7th grade I was heavily bullied and figuring out who I was. At night I would cut my shoulder. (High up because I wear T shirts) I would cut it 100 times a day about, and just fall asleep letting myself bleed out not wanting to live anymore. I was able to stop myself even with the severe bullying. 8th grade the bullying kind of stopped, but someone I deeply cared about in school was hit by a car. she was the kind of person If anyone was alone, she would come talk to them. last day I ever saw her was at lunch one day, no one at my table was at school so I was sitting alone, she came over and started talking to me just because she saw me alone. that made me really happy. that same day she got hit by a car right after school, next 3 days no one talked, taught, teachers let us be for a while, told us if we need to talk, we can. I still have problems with random break downs and negativity but I'm doing better. my mother and father both know about me though the rest of my family doesn't. Anyway, this song was very relatable, not that everything that happened to me was in it but still A great song that has the power to make me cry.

Fun fact, I listen to songs about suicide or death, when I'm suicidal. Suicide isn't our thoughts anyway, so once you know that, it's not as strong and hope is always in sight when u notice not all thoughts are actually us. 🥰 I tried a few times, OD'd, cut a wrist etc.. but music about what my depression wanted, helped me feel the hello and goodbye experience without actually going through with it. Nothing is our fault guys, it's the journey and we aren't suppose to be stressing about making bread either...we have so much pressure to be something we are not these days and we blame ourselves when we can't be that person, well don't, just be you! we came from Caves and fields of wildflowers 🥰 be free but with breath, nature is key to healing too, love you guys! and as a disclaimer, I have no one to talk to but I got this fam! express ya darkness and let us demon warriors fight ya demons with ya!

Great reaction Tom - this song means a lot to so many people and shows how versatile Logic really is. I love it when artists produce this type of music, especially artists who have a really young audience (I’m not saying Logic’s audience is really young, it’s probs mixed), but if more of the younger, super popular artists had more tracks like this, it could help so many kids.

this song will always hold a severely special place in my heart because i was severely depressed from 6th grade till i was about 20 or around there and at the time i heard this song i had graduated high school and my depression hadn't gotten any better and at the time my brother was going to school and my dad was having me pick him up after school everyday and i decided to let my brother play music and this song came on and it was one of, if not the hardest i have ever cried at a song because this song hit so close to home because i had only ever wanted to get rid of this pain but at the same time i didn't really wanna die because i hadn't even got to really get a taste of life luckily i got out of depression within the next few years after that i dont think my little brother has ever known how much he helped me with that song but i love him and im glad both him and me are alive thx for this video man

Sometimes you just don't see a way out. Sometimes you try to survive each day and yet, you think about suicide 24/7. It's not about you, you've stopped caring about yourself years ago...You just think about people that love you and sorrow that your passing is bringing to them. It all comes to a question : do you want to live like that every day or not? If you can't find a way to over come that, than, it is the only way.

My most resonant moments as someone has struggled with suicidality are those moments with the end of hope. Those moments are the most important for normal people to understand, because at least for me, it's not what we HAVE no way out. It's that we SEE no way out. There's nothing else that we see that can change our situation, so even now(at that moment) there's nothing else for us. It's not simple and it's not easy. This should be deep-dived more than it is now or as much as it ever should have been.

It's hard for me to listen to this song without crying. When this song came out, my grandfather had just committed suicide and my father had started assaulting and abusing me. My mom didn't know, my brothers didn't know, nobody knew. I was so scared of what would happen to my family and my life if I told someone. I felt so alone and so deep in darkness and I just wanted the pain to stop. I made 3 attempts on my life. While this was going on, I found a small glimmer of light. I was madly and hopelessly in love with a boy from my school. Even though this enraged my father and made life harder for me at home, I tried to see him as much as I could. One day he found cuts on my arm. Refusing to let it go, I told him everything. I felt so light and free. He said if you don't call the police, I will. A few days later he called me and told me police were on their way to my house. I was mad at first. What does this mean for my mom, my brothers and me? Where are we going to live? It's been 10 years now and my father is serving half a century sentence in prison. My brothers and my mom are thriving, my boyfriend and I are still together, and I am so glad I didn't take my life. Ask for help please!! I don't know where I would be if I hadn't confessed to my boyfriend that day.

No way. Logic has been my favourite artist since 2015. I never expected for you to react to one of his songs. This is by far his most main stream one and helped save a lot of lives. However this is not his usual kind of music. He usually raps more fast pace kind of like eminem and doesn't sing as much

The song itself is emotional, but the music video makes me tear up every single time. You can see the pain in that actors eyes and he does such a good job. It’s so uncomfortable to watch because it feels like I shouldn’t be seeing such private moments

I just discovered your channel and I absolutely adore you! Thank you!! I would absolutely LOVE to see you react to more Falling in Reverse, possibly the rapper NF (Mansion feat. Fleurie is incredible 🥹), and the band Our Last Night (they have a lot of covers but their originals are beautiful). Thank you so much! I adore and appreciate your work!

Not sure if its been said already but the song goes through his first thoughts of wanting to die and then into calling the hotline (Song title) and them telling him I want you to he alive you don't have to die and then his final I don't want to die anymore. So it goes through the process of him feeling that way to getting help to then coming out the other side and feeling better then ever. So yes you were correct he called the number and got the help.

The thing that can hinder the outlook of having so many people helping you, is the pity factor. No matter how much the people do want to help and care for you, it feels out of pity; and we don't want that! This is why I want Mental Health to be freely talked about, no shame or stigmas! Thank you for what you do

There have been countless times in the past few years when I didn't want to live anymore. I never got close to acting upon those feelings, but I simply didn't want to live. I didn't want to feel pain or be lonely, I was just so tired. I convinced myself that everyone I knew would be fine, yeah they would miss me and be sad but they'll continue to live their life. The one person I couldn't convince myself that they'll be fine is my cat; she's my baby and she gets so lonely without me, she's anxious and she's terrified of dogs so no one can take care of her as well as I can. It's kinda sad to say that my cat saved my life several times.

Like you mentioned in the video I always liked how they portrayed the white father in this video. He's clearly shocked at the realization of his son's sexuality but a key point is he doesn't get mad. There's no yelling, No anger. He's confused and it's clearly not what he expected or may have wanted for his son but he isn't hateful which I think is a fair response for that kind of mindset. Obviously ideally you hope for the parents to be open and accepting but honestly I get that not every parent is going to immediately be mentally at that point so I'm always happy to hear about parents who at least stop and handle things calmly as they try to process and understand rather than jumping to condemnation and hate.

FYI the suicide hotline only send the police if they send anyone. Then you’re at their mercy, and the hotline operators say they’re “sending someone to help”. My personal experience.
