I've seen someone say that maybe the ending of Leave me Alone represented NF giving some of his burdens to God, which is something we saw being talked about more often in this record. So, maybe white clothing could represent "talking to God more" as he says in his song Change. For that reason, some people in white in Leave me Alone are burden-free, but some still carry some.

I just realized something that may mean something. At 15:52 when the people watching NF point at his burdens, and then NF says "I don't need advice from my thoughts right now..." he may have also been thinking that the people were focused on his burdens and judging him. Just a thought. It sounded better in my head. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nate leaves this song with another cliffhanger, just like "The search" left with wondering about the white clothes. I agree with your comments on the people going in with dark clothes and coming out in white clothes, yet still seemed like they had no emotions. Knowing Nate said on Instagram (and in some songs) that he refuses to take ANY PILLS because his mom died because of prescription pain pills that turned into an addiction. He said his Therapist told him he needs psych meds for his OCD, but he refuses to take them. Because of this issue, I think he was indicating the change of clothes indicated the people were given meds when they changed clothes colors, yet they were under the influence of meds, so NF did not go in the line to change clothes.

So much imagery in this music video it’s insane! The first time I saw this I thought that the lady in the white suit taking the smiles off from the rest represented medication. From my perspective those in white are walking around aimlessly almost like in a trance. In the song “Changes”NF describes how he was prescribed medications but that he is afraid taking them. @@ReactionTherapyOfficialI dunno if anyone has mentioned this to you but the name for that smile is a Chelsea grin it actually comes from the soccer hooligans they used to cut people in the corners of their mouth with a knife then stomp on their foot or do something else that would make the person scream and when they scream it would tear their cheeks all the way to the back of their jaw. That's what the joker had in The dark Knight when he said now I'm always smiling. So usually makeup like that is a shout out to something very dark and disturbing.

I understand the section with the old man this way: If you carry your burdens for too long, you'll get buried by them eventually. It's like those areas, usually in bigger cities, where homeless people and those, who got left behind by society come together, because they've got nowhere else to go. One is sleeping in a grocery cart, another is sleeping on a discarded mattress. I think Nate imagined his older self living there, just like the underlining message of "Let you Down. "Leave Me Alone" is a very strong song, full of metaphors and a real treat for longtime NF fans. I've watched the video several times, but never paid attention to the second guy in black and with the cart in the beginning. Great eye, great ear and as always fantastic interpretation, Tom. This album is going to be a thrill!

after watching this video multiple times for me its the circus of life with peope all arround dealing with issues. no one without make up was smiling because he is afraid to be normal. To him, the fake smile is still beter than being normal. Thats why when it showed everyone in black going in and coming out in white notice how dark it was and you couldnt see where they were going to or from while he was "being pushed" to get better but then kept walking walking. he keeps going and then its him in his cart and he is looking at an old man. Maybe a refelction or glimps of a future, walks over and poked the sleeping person who doesnt move. anyone with mental issues knows how lonely and debilitating it can be, or even the impact it can have on others and the old man and girl could be people in his life. So he decides to go back and get help.

I know I'm really late, but i just found your channel and as a big fan of NF I'm now watching your reactions to the whole journey, but anyway here's my theory about these videos: The black baloons of course are burdens there's no doubt in that, but then the fun with ideas for significance of things starts. For me this whole place is kind of like a mental hospital. The people wearing black are people who just start their whole search and journey to recovery. The smiles on their faces symbolises that 'mask' that we all wear, which shows that everything is fine. People in black are given the white clothes as a symbol of starting their therapeutic journey, they are given the possibility to take the chance, but the decision is up to them, that's why in some part of the video we see NF in a room with people in black, with their balloons and even their cartwheels - they are the people who chose not to start their therapy processes. We also have people who change the clothes from black to white, which means that they chose to do it, some of the people in white still have these 'smiles' on their faces, because letting the mask of happiness go is another part of the journey. We also have people who start to let go of their burdens, by giving away the balloons just as NF did at the end. So yeah for me it all just symbolises therapeutic journey. So I guess that's it, that's my theory...
@sarahcochran29512 жыл бұрын
I believe I heard in past comments from other fans of NF is the cart represents his “safe space” a place that holds on to his burdens and where he can take a break l. Also thinking it’s like his security cart or blanket in a sense for him in the videos.

I've been looking forward to your analysis of this one because I seem to have a slightly different perspective than others. I think the "broken amusement park" (broken joy) has all of the "broken people" (mentally ill) in it and they are all on the ride of getting better. I see it as different people at different places in their journey with their mental health and each place has a line of people, getting better in some way. That's why they aren't smiling, they are still broken but working on it. And NF is walking around, seeing people take off the facade or changing into better people (clothes) or successfully getting rid of burden balloons and he isn't and it's all so confusing. The song plays like my own anxiety and ruminating where it is absolutely everywhere and no where, which is why i think RUMINATING is the loudest word spoken in the song. So, all these people are getting somewhere and he is stuck, like the older guy in the dark part of the park. At the end he is trying to give away just a little of his issues and his hand is shaking. I want to believe this is a song fully encompassing our frustrating back and forth as individuals with broken brains that feel every one is getting better quickly, even though we/he has been on this journey so long and is still completely weighed down.

I’ve always considered the white clothes anti depressants. A lot of people (like myself) who probably need them, are concerned about becoming an emotionless drone which is basically what the people in the video seem like. OCPD (evil cousin of OCD) is a hellish disorder and the anxiety that it causes is crippling. Tack on some ADHD and your brain turns every scenerio into something resembling Dr Strange taking trips into every scenerio and reality trying to find all the answers. You litterally "what if" the hell out of everything. Nothing you do is good enough but your the only one who can do it right. Projects don't get done because you critique it to death or refuse to call it done because you're always trying to "fix it" or make it perfect. What's worse, you think it's all normal. You don't see the madness. I had no idea what was wrong with me or that something was wrong or how to talk to my doctor about it or that I even needed to until this song.
