Really like your instructor's communication. He simplified this lesson really well! Nice approach, sir!

*THANK YOU for this video, so helpful for a new IFR student such as myself!* :)

My instructor started with these complicated patterns with climbing turns and descents during my 1st lessons. It was pretty tough.

All the best to you in the pursuit of aviation's most valuable rating! It opened up travel and max utility for me as I flew around most of the USA. Have fun!

I have flown 500 hours VFR over a lot of the country. I'm about to take my IFR checkride. I hope I have less sitting around pilot lounges.
@Windtee4 жыл бұрын
@@mattbasford6299 You may have to sit in the FBO, but not as long as before. Knock out that checkride! Here's to 200 & 1/2.

Well done Sogomonian! Keep on going with the training. Bob its an excellent instructor.

I've done all of my aircraft checkouts with him as well, he's a treasure trove of knowledge and very good at teaching by letting you kind of puzzle things out on your own while pointing you in the right direction. Definitely sticking with him as my primary CFI. :)

*also, I like that your analog set up is similar to the 172 I'm training, I can kinda practise my scan during your video* 😂😂

As a bay area pilot myself (based at KDVO) who is working on his instrument rating as well, I really enjoyed this.

Wow great video thanks. Student pilot here interested in ifr training. What to keep it simple and understandable
Im seriously contemplating a SECIR on a Cherokee (Just finished my VFR transition training on the Cirrus SR20 but I feel the Cirrus is best flown IFR) .. costs will be half if I train on an Archer or Warrior. ... what sort of airwork did you practice during the IF?
@PortCharlotteAlex5 жыл бұрын
did you ever finish ? And what advice would you give to new IFR students about to go to start. ?
@psyrixx5 жыл бұрын
Piper Pilot I haven't had the opportunity to finish my IFR yet! I decided to quit my day job and start a new business, which has been an incredible experience, and has left little time for IFR lessons or video making. I should be getting back into it here shortly (both IFR and KZbin content creation)!

Piper Pilot As for advice - I'd suggest focusing on your ground school first and getting your written out of the way. Then interview a few CFII's (maybe take a lesson with each) and stick with the one that you enjoy flying with the most. Virtual ATC for at-home practice (like PilotEdge) is also really helpful for me since I can't get out as often as I'd like in real life.

Just curious, why are you ignoring the glass in your scan?
@psyrixx6 жыл бұрын
Oh, I wasn't ignoring it! What I meant was - the EFIS (glass) is placarded saying that none of the indications on it other than the attitude indicator should be used as primary flight instrumentation. So I was "mostly ignoring it" because I was just using it as an attitude indicator, cross-checking with the steam gauge attitude indicator. That's what I meant - it was totally included as a part of my scan!

Gotcha.
