It's now at the point that when I open YT and see a new Karl Vilips video I get excited. I enjoy watching him play and anxiously look forward to watching his career progress! I may or may not be a little envious of his short game....😁😊 Keep up the good work guys!! 👍

Nice to see you say that Allen. We show the good and the not-so-good days to (hopefully) teach juniors that not every day is going to what you had planned. The biggest lesson should be to never gives up- even if winning a tournament looks hopeless. He Birdied 4 of the last 6 to win the Gold Medal at the Youth Olympics in October, and in both of his last 2 tournaments has made a Birdie and an Eagle in the last 4 holes of each tournament in an effort to chase down the leader/s. Never stop trying. Cheers

I found Karl’s channel early January of this year and I have been binge watching his videos!!! His game is incredible to watch and your commentary really just makes all the videos so great!!! I know Karl is in college now (congratulations!!!!! Woot!!!!!) but when he was 15/16 years old how much was he practicing/playing and how often? I’m looking to start getting real serious with my game and am playing in my first AJGA preview tournament in April!!! Finally starting to get on a grind!

Can you elaborate on the “too much right hand at impact”? Is that similar to a flipping move to try and save it?
@KarlGolf5 жыл бұрын
It's a bad habit that he picked up somewhere along the way which we're eliminating unless required. For example, if Karl needs to draw the ball into the flag then he actually needs that move, but for a ball that you want to sit softly or spin back, you need to be playing without turning the right wrist over. Cheers
@suzyflorida11935 жыл бұрын
@@KarlGolf For those kind of chip shots, watch videos of Lee Trevino chipping like that -- watch them over and over and over. Karl is great already. He just needs to keep playing the way he's playing and not mess around with swing changes trying to get better. That can really screw him up. He doesn't need to get longer. If he tries to do that, it could end up being a big mistake. He's just so very talented and he will be very famous in not too long.
@paytonmiller83665 жыл бұрын
@@KarlGolf So his result of the problem is he hits a hook wedge and they don't stop? Or was that just the firm greens. On a side note drawed pitch shots, not sure about full wedges, tend to spin more but that has to do with dynamic loft and would depend on the player's delivery.
@rodstiffingtonxyz5 жыл бұрын
you have a very keen eye, are you saying the right arm is straightening and releasing too much or that hes doing too much of a draw move with the right hand. Awesome swing either way, post impact reminds me alot of Rory, especially when Karl was 14-15
@KarlGolf5 жыл бұрын
Watch Karl's right forearm turning over at impact. Now, if the pin is tucked back left, then that's the ideal shot, but not for anything right of a left-tucked pin. We're getting him back to that post-impact finish that you mentioned. People may ask how the finish affects the shot, but it's the positions the player needs to go through in order to get to that finish (unless you're Jim Furyk of course. LOL).
@KarlGolf5 жыл бұрын
Here's a good example of where Karl needed to employ the right wrist more in order to get it to a back right pin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jH3ZdIN5rMhrldk

When are you going to upload the middle 6 holes?
@KarlGolf5 жыл бұрын
Easy there. I only did the first 6 yesterday and it takes hours to edit 6-holes with the course overlays and hole descriptions. These videos aren't monetised, so we do them purely to share with juniors so as to encourage them. As such, they won't always be uploaded as quickly as we might like. Cheers

Whatever he is working on its difficult to always be 100% committed to the change in tournament. I cant be too critical of the few wedge shots because normally you dont see him struggle with it. I feel like the past few tournaments you posted he hasnt had those struggles. Itll be worked on and fixed easily 😁 Btw course looks simple but fun. Nothing wrong with that! Greens looked fun as well

Spot on James. Karl is one of those players who can still shoot tournament scores whilst working on a part of his game.

@KarlGolf5 жыл бұрын
He's not allowed to give coaching advice nowadays due to the rules. Cheers.
@nobiclarke5 жыл бұрын
Put the ball farther up in your stance. Take the club away more inside, your most likely taking it outside the plane which is causing your club to cut across the ball. A shorter and slower all around swing is also a great swing thought to resort to when striking it badly. Cheers
@andyv62995 жыл бұрын
I would say opposite because slice is left to right shot so putting it forward the path is out left with open face because that's how I play cuts, need to change path and put ball centre to maybe back little for pratice getting path out to right and learn to close club face down with bowing wrists or some rotation which will = draw or straight shots

Where do you buy all your golf gear and clothes?
@KarlGolf5 жыл бұрын
Most of the top juniors are supplied with clothing and equipment by their preferred manufacturer. Some exclusively wear Under Armour, some Callaway, NIke or Titleist/Footjoy. In Karl's case he's looked after by Adidas and Taylormade. The manufacturers have supported junior golf for an eternity. Cheers

Will you be his caddie when he start playing on the pga tour?
@KarlGolf5 жыл бұрын
Father & Sons as the player/caddy dynamic never works. Matt Kuchar's Dad did it for him when he first joined the tour, but by and large it simply doesn't work. Teenage boys and girls are wanting their independence at this age, so parents take on a more managerial role and get someone else to caddy.
