Thanks Wayne, Iam pretty sure some airgun tuners learned somethng from the videos too hatsan guns can really be a pain for anyone who is not familure with them. main reason was to help guys who were capable, this sport sucks up your money and air gunners get ripped off everyday heck just buying a gun could be a waste of money if you dont know your guns

Thank you. I have had some issues with my 125 th not cocking and after breaking it down to pull the trigger mechanism apart, getting scared I wouldn't be able to get it together, getting all the pins back in place. I am now confident I can pull the spring out and still have a working rifle. Thank you, thank you!

Your welcome thanks for letting me know/ when she's done when putting the stock back on those trigger pins have to be even side to side, so the stock clears them. for the stock I screw the large screw at the trigger in to catch a couple turns then do the front stock bolt then come back to the large screw at the trigger guard. the slight angle helps the front stock bolt align if it gives you a problem

Thanks for all your videos , especially the detailed information on the Quattro trigger, especially the sear pin tip and the fact that the sear has to be engaged to go back together right. I hopefully have resurrected an 85 sniper that had its gas ram go flat. I pumped it back up with my pcp adapter and hand pump, so far so good! I could have tried pumping through the access ports that hatsan made in the receiver, but they werent lined up well enough with the fill port. Not sure the ram will hold, but if not I could at least replace it myself now.

+Cool Warrior the 125 and 135 are best in .25 cal smoother shot cycle big difference in how the .25 make it function over the slaming piston of a .22. for got to mention, I Love it when some one gets a good one Thanks Mike

Hi Mike... Thank you for your Very Informative videos... they're great and very detailed, unlike many others on here (regarding other brands of guns). I only wish I had found your videos prior to today.... as I had received a .25 cal 135 from PA just about two months ago... loved the wood stock, but I could Not get that thing to group tighter than 3" at a measly 10yrds... and that was after I had cleaned out the barrel (which I always do, as soon as I receive a new gun). I even hand pushed 9 different .25 cal pellets down the barrel to feel what was going on... a few all but just fell out of the barrel, most felt loose for about 2/3rds down, then tightened to varying degrees to the muzzle... some were so tight, that I was sure if I could push them through. Long story short... it went back to PA. I also had the same issue, plus a few more with the Hatsan version of the "Patriot" in .25..... it went back to PA as well, and I "upgraded" that one to a Benji MRod in .25 cal... Love it... easy to shoot and VERY accurate. However, my "dilemma" is... I don't like PCP's for the simple reason of all the extra cost and paraphernalia associated with the necessary "life support".... which I don't (and will not) have, as I bought a Hill Stage 4 pump to "hand pump" my Mrod, two Disco's and one of Mike Melicks Gen2 - XS60's (.22 cal)... with the exception of the Mrod... the others are easy to pump up... the Mrod gives me a great work out for that last 5 - 600 psi up to 3000.... resulting in my Not shooting it very much. I REALLY want a decent springer in .25 cal (NO "gas rams").... and yes, the Germans make some great (quality, wise) ones.... but, All of the few that they produce (in .25), are all in the very low 600 fps range...At Best !!... I need something that will reach out to 40/45 yrds without a whole lot of holdover to get it on target... I need something that will push (at least) 25 - 28gr. pellets out the door in the range of 690 - 750 fps. That's why I pursued the Hatsan line.... the power IS there.... but D*#... they're All over the "map"...... I read all these "testimonies" from guys who say how wonderful and "accurate" they are..... I guess I must have received the only two Hatsans that were not(?!?). I realize that by & large, on average.. and despite apparent inconsistent QC issues with Hatsan... they sell a "ton" of guns, world wide..... so, they must be able to "satisfy" most buyers enough to stay in business. I know how to "artillery hold" these things.... have been at it for a long time and have a collection of 16 Springers (not counting PCP's & Sheridan & Benjamin Multi-pumps (.20 cal)... and with the exception of just a couple... are all "magnums"... mostly Diana's and Weihrauchs.... and the Only "chinese" springers I have, I bought from my personal friend.. Mike Melick, two are magnums, two are not (for my wife).... No Gamo's, or any other "big box" store air guns. SO.... Question: What would be "Your" choice, for a good shooting (re:accurate) .25 cal. air rifle.... with some "muscle" behind it ?? Do I get another Hatsan in my desired .25 cal springer.... and send it to you, for a FULL Tune.... if that's even an option ?? How about any of the "fixed barrels" from Hatsan... like the 155 Torpedo (?)... in.25..... I'm not too sure what to think of their "set up" in regards to the design, and how the breach is accessed.... what to you know about them, if anything ?? Their design is certainly a departure from the "norm" in relation to everyone else's approach to air rifle fixed barrel design, in that regard... any "known" Long term use, "issues" with Them ?? Shoot !!... this has gotten away from me here.... sorry, I will eagerly await your reply to my questions.... as I greatly respect your knowledge on the Hatsans, from what I've gleaned from your wonderfully detailed videos. I still have credit "on hold" at PA from the 135 that I returned, while I make a decision on which way to go in acquiring (hopefully) another .25 cal springer.... Thank you very much, for your time in reading my "book" here (sorry)... and for all & any advice you can send my way, regarding my questions. THANK YOU, Mike... and also, for all the time & effort you put into your videos, on all our behalf. It's Greatly appreciated.

2Stroke Diesel Power Hi. I dont like the hatsan under leavers because they weigh a ton, I never had one, I almost bought one out of curiosity and eventually after staring at it and thinking a lot about it I was able to move on.. I dont know why but I never got a good hatsan from pryamyd air, its the weirdest thing. I dont blame pryamyd air it just is the darn-est thing they all had problems, this was going back a while. when ever I bought a hatsan from air gun depot they turned out better, obvious they received a better batch of hatsan rifle. Try again from air gun depot, follow thu with cleaning the barrel, then checking the barrel like you did before by sliding the pellet down the barrel to feel whats going on. hatsan did have barrel issues , even if they corrected them that does not mean they will follow thru to stay on top of the problem, it could re occur again. some recent ones I seen were very good , even had a nice crown & choke. a far cry from what I seen in the past. if you get a hatsan 125 or 135 with a decent barrel that would be a start, iF YOU DO, I recommend buying a better spring for it Vorteck has something for them I think, something I will be doing down the road when I get back to a couple unfinished projects. Thees rifles are beasts, tuning helps but they are not like a fine lower powered German springer. I can make a top hat & custom fitted delrin spring guide for you, if you send me the spring, if you are able to do the rest of the work your self that would save you money. the ticket is to get a good hatsan rifle , I try again, then check the barrel like you did and if its not rite send it back. I would talk to some one about it at Air Gun Depot letting them know if the barrel is not except able you will be sending it back, and see what they say. tell them hatsan had barrel issue and you dont want a bad one see what they say. They have improved from what I seen, but again that does not mean they will stay on top of whats made at the factory. if its power in .25 you want a good hatsan is the ticket. I can work your rifle if you get a good one, if you are not able to do your own work. it has to have decent barrel, and a better spring would help last longer and feel different, maybe with a slight de tune it is hard to get everything from a rifle with out a compromise the bigger the magnum power the more recoil & that recoil defeats the accuracy. hatsans designs is over built its over the top. working them is like taming a bull its still a bull, just a more honed in bull LOL

Mike Ellingsworth** Mr Stepping Stone*** Hi Mike... Thank you SO much for your reply and input, Greatly appreciated. I can do tuning.... just getting into it... within the last year, but only for myself.... and have Never opened a Hatsan... and seeing your videos, tells me you've certainly "been there & done that".... many times, with the Hatsans. I never have dealt with AGD.... only PA & AoA.... guess I'll give them a try.... as soon as I talk to PA about returning my credit from the 135 I returned. I will say one thing about PA..... returning anything to them is NEVER a "hassle"... they are VERY accommodating, to say the least..... their service is excellent. I have Not dealt previously with AGDepot, as it was "suggested" to me.... that they did (do?) Not have a good reputation for accepting returns..... as in... once it's out their door.... it's "your baby"..... and judging by what you suggested in talking with them about Hatsans barrels, to see what they say about returning it, IF not acceptable with the barrel, tells me that what I was told a couple of years ago..... may well, be true about them..... however, I will call them.. and "visit" with them about it, and see what transpires. I think I will talk to them Before I ask for my money back from PA, though. Could you give me a "CLOSE" approximate, as to what you would charge to do a FULL / COMPLETE TUNE on either a 125 or 135 ??...... also, a close approximate "turnaround" time ??......... all this info will help contribute to deciding if I will get a .25 cal from Hatsan.... or not. IF, I do not.... then I will most likely get another RWS / Diana.... most likely the Diana Branded 350 Magnum, as their version is available in .25 cal and If I remember correctly, is sufficiently "hot" to get downrange with the FPE I'm looking for. Thank you for your thoughts on the Hatsan underlevers..... I rechecked on them after writing you last time.... they ARE a "brute" for weight, aren't they !!?! That doesn't Really bother me so much though, as their design for the breach opening..... something tells me, that after a period of time... there would be "issues" appearing.... that I really don't want to mess with....... if they accessed the breach / loading port area, like everyone else, and with a sufficiently nice size opening like Weihrauch & RWS / Diana (RWS is just Diana's "home" (Germany) marketing Co.) under & side levers.... I would buy a Hatsan 155 in a heartbeat, to at least try out.... but.... don't mean to get off track, but... have you ever shot the British "Pile Driver" pellets ???....... if not, you Really need to try them..... I just got some from AoA..... WOW !!! I chony'd them at both ends... four ft from the muzzle and at 25 yrds... using my Weihrauch HW80 (.22 cal & Vortec Tuned).... and with a 15 shot string.... my average loss of FPE, from muzzle to target (25 yrds)... was only 2.6 FPE !!!!! Unbelievable.... and I shot them up against everything from Crossman Premiers, to JSB's, H&N's, Peak, AirArms (H&N I believe), etc, etc..... the next "closest" for loss of FPE at 25 yrds, were the H&N Field Target Trophy's (14.66 gr.).... with a 9.2 fpe loss at target.... calm / NO wind whatsoever. The Pile drivers "boat tail" design Really is the "key"..... I never have liked the "Diabolo" design with the hollow back end.... yes, it helps the air push them out the door.... but, in flight..... it reeks havoc. The "Pile Drivers" are.... Not the cheapest pellet on the shelf by any means..... but, I'm going to be getting a bunch more for hunting purposes, only..... in all the calibers they have.... they are definitely worth it. Well... better get some shut eye... getting really late. Thanks again for your reply.... and appreciate any further reply to my questions in this reply. Take care, Mike.

2Stroke Diesel Power Have not heard back from you thru my email that I gave you. awaysmike@hotmail.com curious to see what air gun depot said when you ask them about returns, and about the possibility of barrel issues. I may of mention using the xl gas ram or that could of been some other reply to some one else. but you said you did not want a gas ram, so if I brought it up its because I got off track that's why personal email is better. Iam going to buy new springs either from JM or from Vorteck for my 125 down the road.

Appreciate your very thorough information on the Hatsan air rifles. I am trying to find a replacement 7mm bolt that bolts stock to compression tube together. Mine broke. I found a site that had parts but no stock in inventory. I made a temporary bolt that seems to hold up to now. I have the Webly Patriot .177 caliber made by Hatsan which is a beast. Very accurate. Love to shoot it. Do you know where I could get this bolt?

I got a Walther Talon Magnum 22 from Big J's Custom Airguns. It is a little different than the Hatsan 125. The piston is different and it has a single stage trigger. So I'm trying to get a little educated from your videos🙂👍.

if its a single stage trigger its a OLD one made in turkey by hatsan for Walter Co old ones had plastic triggers and like one pin on the end of receiver tube should have a great barrel as I believe hatsan kept up with quality control when they made them for walter/ the stocks are slightly different fit up wise compared to a later model hatsan 125 and will not line up, I may have one of those stocks from the Walter falcon same earlier model in camo

Gas ram it shoots all over the place literally cannot even be sighted in really, worst of all its been sitting for like a year before I tested it, so no warranty anymore. I'll do some barrel testing tonight. mind you I only have like 50 pallets through it. It could be my technique or something but I'm usually a decent shot. Cheers from New Zealand

Those barrel can be filthy dirty and also bad use goo gone , - pull the breech seal. then saturate the bore let it sit and penetrate for a good while, then use a good condition brass bore brush, going in and all the way out of the barrel before pulling brush back about 20 times then stuff goo gone soaked patches thru using a skinny smoothed tip rod I pack as many as I can but can still push them out then when they come out clean I go back to the bore brush another 20 x and finish with the patches again/ then clean out bore with compressed air , then I use brake cleaner spray to dry it all up after with air again then I do a pellet to bore fit to see what the pellet tells me about the pellet to bore fit I bet you have a over sized barrel with not much pellet to bore contact - light pellet to bore drag is ok but free fall is not/ Yes Jesus is our all in all

At 28:40 where you talk about the seal , I like to use the teflon tape the yellow color instead of the dental floss behind the o ring . I used 2 layers to raise up the o ring just enough to pass the tissue test . The first time I did a seal adjustment ,I did what you said and I raised the seal up to much because I though the tighter the seal the better ,but to tight a seal won't let the barrel close in the same position , and since its a hinge when you close the barrel the bottom of the seal hits first and the barrel won't close as far as it did before you moved the seal out farther . When the barrel doesn't close as far as it use to your point of impact is no where near where it was ,The pellet will hit really low because the barrel is pointing down . When I did the seal adjustment I could not figure out why my pellet was hitting so low on the target . I figured since I stopped tissue blow out the pellet would be higher on the target because of a higher fps . Its nothing you can see just my looking at the barrel and it seems to close just fine but its just enough to angle it downwards . So after thinking about it for a while It finely came to me that maybe the barrel was not closed as much as it should be . I took the teflon back out and did a layer at a time and I open and closed it to make sure the seal was seated where it was going to seat . It takes a while to get it just right and by just right I mean one layer it blows out the paper and the next layer of tape it makes a hole and doesn't blow out the paper . After that I shot the gun and the point of impact was the same . Well anyways thats how I learned how important the placement of that seal really is .
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 9 жыл бұрын
justliketolook Excellent ideal, I probably would twist the Teflon to make a string out of it and fold it in. yes it does not take much to do the job. once I had used jb weld then pushed the seal into place to push the excess out, I believe that was on a project rifle.

do you have to do any adjustments on the gun to make the gas ram change . I have the newest 125 sniper 22 cal spring gun .
@justliketolook

I just place the tape over the the area where the o ring goes and press the o ring over the tape and the tape fills in any space on both the inside and out side of the oring and I close the barrel to push the o ring back in place then I just cut a hole where the pellet goes and on the out side of the oring so every thing is air tight and it raises up the oring at the same time . I use the tape to thread around my my steamer cap where I add my water, it has a lot of pressure behind it and I never lose any pressure at all . So its really strong stuff but very flexible .

justliketolook Not on the rifle, but on the adapters I make there are two adapters I make one for the bottom of the piston and one for the end of the ram at end of receiver. the adapter I make for the end of the receiver has to be taken down so that when everything is assembled the end of the receiver sticks out about 1/8" the info should be on how to gas ram your hatsan. locate the video & watch it then get back to me with any questions. I talk about using the crosman XL gas ram that's what I recommend they are like 28 bucks plus small shipping fee from crosman Co Thanks Mike

Thanks I watched it last night part 1 and 2 . after I sent this message . I almost got the Hatsan Model 125 Sniper Vortex Piston .But it was 100 dollars more than the spring gun . I got it on sale at midway for 189.00 so I could not let that go . And I figured I would just order the vortex gas ram that sales for 100.00 later on and still be at the regular price but have both a spring and a ram piston , Since you can get both ram and spring for the same gun , what I was wondering is will the vortex piston fit into the spring gun with out any changes to the gun . Have you ever changed the spring to a vortex in the 125 sniper . I think there is a differences in the 125 gun and the 125 sniper the price is almost 100 dollars difference and the fps is 250 fps less than the 125 sniper . So I would think the piston sizes are different .

Hey Mike nice to meet ya.. Just toom my 25 cal 125 spring sniper... still going for 300 I actually found this on Amazon for 200 and I was very very nervous indeed as anyone would be but for the most part it looks new however I had a Crosman multi-pump when I was a kid and that's the extent of my air rifle experience and I'm 45 now so as you can imagine I'm like what the hell is going on here. Had a low pitch squeek or grind sound like a honky tonkey Goose... also caulking it seems to be really hard and then I got even more nervous once my airtact 25 came and realized how smooth and easy that thing cocked. I can't compare the overall sound of the shot because of such different qe tech... but this mod 125 sure does sound like a crack of a firearm. I cleaned the barrel a little and I think it may have sounded a little better but I have this thing apart right now and I'm putting RWS spring cylinder oil on all the hinges but I have a couple questions about the ports just above the trigger mechanism at the very back of the spring. Should I be dropping oil in there as well? And then that brings me to the compression chamber. When I crack the barrel should I put anything on the top of that chamber port or should I drop a couple drops inside the port? I have literally heard both and honestly it's just a crazy world where no one knows the truth about anything even shit like this and pardon my language but I finally stopped at your video because I'm about to stream it and take a breather and just listen closely and try to find some patience but I'm ready to put this thing back together I just don't want to start firing off until someone lets me know if I'm just tripping but the tension of the cock didn't seem right at all and of course the noise isn't right. I sure as hell didn't buy this caliber of a rifle to hear that kind of a squeaking noise. Okay I'm all ears and I'm very open-minded so anyone can chime in I'm a newbie and I really need to understand this oil thing because I'm not worrying about warranties. To tell you the truth my next one might be a Gamo since they just re-upped their stock of the Magnum... call me crazy but I want to know if we can mod a 22 swarm Magnum into a 25...
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 2 жыл бұрын
Gamo has my full vote I just bought the extreme hunter pro they have hammer forged barrels & they are made very well good steel also. good adjustable triggers too. with a swarm you are stuck with that caliber but on a single break barrel like the gamo extreme hunter pro it can be re barreled I had a extreme hunter from 2014 & was going to re barrel that ,I never looked into those & wanted to do one/ gamos are excellent rifles, I personally don't care for swarm I rather have a no issue single load rifle. others love them that's just me. Back to your 125 sounds like your air chamber & piston is dry RWS air chamber oil is for the air chamber & RWS spring oil is for outside of the air chamber mainly the spring so drop about 4 to 6 across the spring, yours sounds like its dry and may need it you can drop 2 or 3 drops of air chamber oil in the port hole then try to cock the gun with out fully cocking the piston back into the trigger sear you want to work the piston back and forth trying to spread the air chamber oil around, wipe off any oil that is sitting on top area of the port hole If you can get some one to help hold the gun on a bench while you drop the 3 drops in then keep your finger over the port hole then cock the barrel back and hold it there to form a vacuum then pull your finger away so it sucks the oil into the chamber/ don't get hurt be sure its all solid secure with however your doing it/ otherwise just drop the 3 drops wait a minute & try to work the piston back & forth using the barrel it will definitely cause detonation and be loud but eventfully it will burn off / I have are own custom seals for that gun I can make custom spring guides for it & can install custom after market spring or gas ram it & go thru the gun etc etc

I rebuild the rams the rite way or if it is destroyed I can replace it. and If the gun is accurate and you really like it, then it would be worth sending it to me to completely go thru it. I spend just about 100 shots and one sidescrew just broked and fell off the gun.I just send it back few days ago to the store that sell it to me to fix it if they can if you know what I mean.I would't recomend it to anyone.

Hi Thomas. you cant pull it apart when cocked with pressure on the sear. with out personally seeing one in person I would think you could set it back up so the bear trap safety is on. then keep your hand on the cocking leaver as its also pulled back and pick the pellet out of the breech port first./ who cares if it later if it dry fires at least it would be safe as long as your hand or fingers are out of the way. onec the pellet is out and your set up safe release the bear trap. then the rest is on you taking the stock off etc. tripping the sear tru the round window. Once thats been fired go to hatsan usa click the airgun then when on the airgun sight click the contact us tab then click on general Inquires tab / then ask them for the trigger for your model & include the serial number should be around 35.00 most likely will be the same quatro trigger from all the other quattro's

Oh, another thing, do you know if there is a way to order barrels for the 125? I found one on some bulgarian site, not even sure if they ship to the US. They charge about 90 bucks prior to shipping. I have a .177 and I'd like to convert to either .22 or .25. When I get in there to change the piston seal it would be cool to swap barrels as well.

Steve Hansel Hi Steve. All hatsan magnums big & medium are completely over sprung, and the spring steel its self is not worth having in a full tuned rifle if you want the best The Ideal thing to do, is measure the spring thickness & length with your digital calipers harbor freight has them . Contact Tom from Vorteck Products .com and ask him if he could make you a smoother more docile spirng for it like he did for his rws 350. . He makes a docile spring for the rws 350 rifles that makes it cock buttery smooth and easy and feels like silk that transforms the rifles shot cycle./ so their is no reason why you cant have the same for your 95 Cutting a spring! you have to be careful cutting a spring , because after it is cut, it will get even smaller when you heat the end to fold it flat. after heating it, and pushing the coil flat, let cool,and dremel " part" of the end coil so it is flatter to match the other side of coil & wont catch anything on its outside or inside. Careful not to dremel it to thin 1/2 is good Heating it up! "Dont get it cherry red , get it hot enough so it will fold back when you push it down If you send me the spring when its done I can make the delrin top hat & spring guide for it/ the top hat thickness will add a bit of pre load because it is about , 3/16" thick the custom fit guide & top hat will make a big difference. but still the original spring is to over sprung and needs to go. I Charge 45.00 shipped back for the custom made spring guide top hats and some wafers for pre loading if need be. Mike

Hi Bruce I am not familiar with that non quattro trigger , you will have to look for a video on it ! Now on a quattro trigger you have to have the trigger set and ready to fire before dropping it back into the welded trigger bracket and using a smaller sear pin to clear that bracket/once its back and all the large pins are installed then you fire it. other wise it wont cock and engage with the piston

Mike at 22 minutes into the video where your going through the lock up and the lock up screw, does the lock up screw squeeze and puts pressure on the barrel to keep the barrel from moving right and left only ? What part of the gun keeps the barrel from closing to far and keeps the barrel from making contact with the receiver? Can you give me a time in the video that shows the part that stops the barrel from contacting the receiver when the barrel is in the closed position ? If there is a part the keeps the barrel from contacting the receiver can it be adjusted ? My barrel is touching the receiver . I thought when the barrel was closed the only contact was on the seal and that the metal on the barrel above the seal should have a small space and not be touching the receiver. I had to move the seal so it sticks out 2 mm to keep the barrel from contacting the receiver and after a few shots I could see it was causing damage to the seal .If a break barrel gun is made correctly and you take the o-ring out will the barrel continue to close until it has metal to metal contact or is there a stop somewhere that prevents the barrel from moving to far up and makes contact ? How does that all work ?
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 8 жыл бұрын
+justliketolook the closed barrel block is very close , but each rifle model will look different, some with more of a gap, others with no gap, if you have metal to metal rubbing then that's wrong but if its super close but fine then thats ok its supposed to be a tight tolerance yet still clear & close not hit each other. the barrel bolt tightens up the receiver forks against the block making it either easy to break the barrel open or firm to break the barrel open that is the only adjustment! that bolt and the entire design keeps things exactly where they need to be, theirs no other adjustment ! the block stops when the catch is just on the other side of the Jam that has the small sping Mike
@justliketolook
@justliketolook 8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Ellingsworth** Mr Stepping Stone*** Okay so the block stops when the catch is just on the other side of the Jam that has the small sping. Does that mean if I cut back the metal above the o ring where its contacting metal to metal at some point the barrel will stop having metal to metal contact even if I remove the o-ring the barrel will at some point stop and not close any farther . I removed the shim from behind the o-ring and did the tissue test the o-ring looks flush but the o-ring is working and passed the tissue test . So if the o-ring looks flush but still passes the tissue test but still have metal to metal contact ,I shouldn't have to relieve the metal very much to have a space right ?
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 8 жыл бұрын
+justliketolook Its very hard to guide you when I am not there seeing it. If you have metal to metal contact and you can not return the rifle to the store for a replacement or refund, then yes the next step would be to try to remove some metal so it dose not hit each other, then adjust the seal you can sand the hatsan seals down at the bottom side if you take your time and do it evenly don't forget to put some patches in the breech so tthe metal dust does not get inside then run the cleaning patches out tru the breech then try some more patches from barrel end and back out thru the breech little goo gone should help clean it up

Hi Mike I’m looking to get the 125 .25 cal and hesitating between the springer and the vortex(gas ram)... I am aware that the air pressure is adjustable on the 125/135 vortex, but I don’t have a PCP pump and am not looking spend extra money on that, so that feather isn’t any attractive to me. The only thing I like about the vortex is that I’ve heard that it’s easier to shoot accurately than a springer, but I have read some complaints on different forums that the Hatsan vortex occasionally have leaking problems and so on... So I’m currently leaning more towards the springer, because even I like the accuracy advantage from the vortex but the troubles with the vortex does scare me. So from the standpoint of being more durable and hustle-free, and with minimum fine tuning right out of the box, which one would you say is the winner, the springer or vortex?
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Vic stick with the springier, other wise you be buying the pump & adapter etc as the vortek rams fail a lot when you get it clean the bore with goo gone and patches real good, If you can, check the bore to pellet fit by ''slowly'' pushing the pellet thru the bore from the breech down feeling if it is loose or tight or have slight drag or loose , free fall etc.. that will tell you whats going on in the bore, hopefully the pellet will have some drag and not loose going thru normally you will have tight area then a tad bit of drag, if the bore is way over size and mostly the pellet falls thru with no drag I would return it and get another

there is lots to learn and that takes time, you go thru different stages, the hands on is another addicting part of airguns. feet per second or fps usually means the accuracy suffers and the scopes wont' last eventually the ideal is to have a more balanced shot cycle and good accuracy , the weihrauch guns are designed with that in mind, the hatsan are made not designed lol they are made for brute force and have a unbalanced shot cycle with a piston slamming all to get power. everyone loves that in the beginning until they graduate into the next level of air guns. then they realize there is more to a airgun then just power / then they say hhmm what can I do to smooth this shot cycle and make it shoot sweet. even my videos were a start now I have better microphone and feel easier about making them. if you need some help down the air gun road feel free I like the fact that you enjoy working your guns . one thing though if lube gets into the air chamber in properly then in the barrel the fps will be false and caused by the lubricant so everything needs to be done properly. when I lube the receivers air chamber area I will slid the piston back to check the face of the seal wipe it then slid it down and back several times to make sure it comes back with no excess then I'll pull it, look at the bottom of the tube use a paper towel wrapped on a wood dowel fold the end over and tape the towel in two spots to keep it tight on the dowel then reach to the bottom and wipe off any potential excess pull the dowel and if its messy Ill make up another clean end and do it again. once thats good Ill put the piston back then finish lubing the rest of the receiver behind the piston and then you need to be careful because that excess can migrate into the front of the piston if you over do it, also before any of that you should sand and ream the back rear of the tube to remove all the edges from the trigger slot & scope welds etc ream the crap out of it, but never the cocking shoe slot do that carefully and never over do it or the cocking arm will rattle because the soft steel was taken down / there are air gun gurus but Iam not one of them lol this is all basic air gun knowledge developed over time. and it takes time and money to find things out lol oh and hey if you ruin something dont swet it that is part of the cost for learning :)

Hi Mike, You hit it right on the head. I won't throw any money at this 95 until I can get it to group in stock form. Thus far, I'm not pleased with the Hatsan, and not buying their hype. I think Hatsan has their people writing these glowing reviews. Real buyers are exposing them for what they are. Paper-plate size groups at 35 yards will cause me to rant, and even motivate me to start a "I hate Hatsan" fan club, complete with a web site. But, being a bit OCD in my efforts to make bad guns better, I attempted to check my barrel. I'm not sure how to judge the results. The 14.3 grain Crosman pellets (.22) were super tight, and left deep scratches in the pellets. It really took effort to push them through. In contrast, the Crow mags, Kodiaks and Diablos slipped right through with almost no drag. I suspect it has more to do with the pellet's head size. Regardless, the rifle shoots like crap. I'm going to try it again before I call it off. I have a warranty exchange in bound from Hawke (Airmax EV 4-12x50). The scope is going back on a 34, but not until the Hatsan has another chance perform. Thanks again.

Hi Susan the 135 ihas bigger 30mm receiver and is little more feet per second than the 125, lets say a 125 get 920 fps in a .22- 14.3 grain pellet and a 135 may get 950 fps give or take a persons altitude and those are rough guess estimates/ its been a while since I looked over the crony numbers. 135 is heavier and big and the 125 is little less heavier but still big. I do not recommend them unless you are able to do your own work on them or know some one who can do it for you. the pistons seal are undersized and tend to burn up etc.. they could use a replacement spring and piston seal from vorteck etc. inc the barrels tend to come out with over sized bores its about 50/50 chance of you getting a good barrel ho hum or bad barrel

the newer 135 qe are heavier due to the adjustable butt pad & cheek rest that leaves the sniper in synthetic stocks or basic 125 model both the same just the stock is different & hand brake is different. .25 cal is the ticket with these powerful guns also helps the shot cycle but honestly they all need a good going thru and I now have proper custom seals made special for me for these guns and I also go thru everything trigger, breech seal you name it & I install a bearing ring for the rear of the piston & rebuild the gas ram if its a vorteck ram Highly recommend because they will fail if not rebuilt heres my email awaysmike@hotmail.com if you want to discuss cost etc.. Mike ,on my new sniper 125 hatsan 22 cal I did the tissue test and its good . but my barrel is pointing up and my pellets down range is going above the scope height at 10 yards its up around the 4th mildot . So I leveled the gun on the spring part and when I put the level on the barrel it was pointing up . So I looked at the barrel above the oring and there is metal to metal contact and I can now see metal showing from where the contact is made . On my rws I can run a thin film sheet between the metal and metal where they meet when closed . Should I be getting metal to metal contact and should the barrel be pointing up . If not How do I correct it ? If it past the tissue test should I get a thicker o ring or but some floss behind it to make the metal just out of contact and to level out the barrel ? Is my lock up not set right ? Is the o ring what decides the amount it closes.

+justliketolook see how much your seal is above the block, you can have a seal passing that tissue test not blowing it apart, but still needs to come out more to help stabilize the block when the rifle is fired. " Yes , I would try the wider wax ribbon type dental floss and raise the seal up some and see if the the block to receiver area looks better . its trial and error " too much seal above the block will cause a P. O. I. shift so if that happens the seal is to high. how is the spring jam does it seam to be strong, they usually are, and have a hefty spring. let me know how you make out. if the dental floss work and the barrel is still going high, we just adjust the barrel by bending it, but first you need to fix the block touching the receiver. here is my email drop me a email and I'll send you a picture of a barrel bender you can make if you ever need to bend a barrel from droop to what ever awaysmike@hotmail.com Mike

I just took out the seal and added a few layers to raise up the seal even with it raised up the barrel is touching the piston side above the hole . I thought by moving the oring out more it would cause the poi to be lower than it was but it raised the pellet even more .and its still hitting metal to metal should the barrel be touching the piston side when its closed , yes the spring is still strong its a new gun with about 400 shots through but it has been shooting high from the beginning and I just noticed the metal showing through above the oring seal .

There are many factors that come into play that will cause theese powerful hatsans to not be so accurate, the main one is the Barrel, if you get a good one its a start, then there is the proper beech seal and lock up. factory seals get tossed for a new better fitting one and the trigger needs to be cleaned up and adjusted nicely and factory spring guides do not do much so they should be made to fit yet a better after market spring. but aside from all that I have not shot the vorteck ram I do know they are a little less power then crosman rams and may be smoother at the end of the firing cycle because of it. the one vorteck ram gun I had I took apart the ram and did a video on it thees rifles are over built and have big piston slam I would think the vorteck gas ram from hatsan would be a little better then the raw full piston slamming spring that will break eventually if you shoot it a lot. I hope that helps Mike

Hi Milo hatsan goes back & forth with quality control mostly its bad . the steel is not german steel its junk steel especially the barrels. they are ok if you can do your own work but too risky to buy one without doing any upgrades to the gun-- stick with weihrauch or your Dianna guns but all air guns can use a going over / factory goes so far and then they stop when its functional, and there have been periods when diana's came out dry not enough lube . Great Videos Mike. I learn something from each one. How similar are these 125/135 as compared to the 95? I'm still wanting to open up my 95 (Spring gun) to clean out the unknown factory oil (?) and do a proper lube, etc. My 95 is a really nice looking gun, but it just sits there on my rack. I ignore it now, because after a tin of pellets, it still smokes like an old tractor, and accuracy is really poor. But, for $111.00 delivered to my door, I had to see what it was about. Thanks again, and I'll watch (wait) for a video on how to open them up. Thanks again.

Mike Ellingsworth** Mr Stepping Stone*** Looking forward to the video! I'm interested in the new piston seal as well, where you obtained it from, and how you fit it. Also, if you don't mind, could you also touch on the option of installing/upgrading to a Gas-Ram or Vortex type system? I have no experience with Gas-Rams, but it sounds interesting. Considering that semi-drop in kits for the 95 are still not being offered by JM or Vortex. I'm sure that current spring tunes on the 95 are pieced and fitted, but in your experience: is the gas-ram a better way to go? Considering the cost and trouble of obtaining a properly fitted spring, spring guides, top-hats, etc., not to mention the moly, tar,....etc...etc. ....a gas ram starts looking good. Thanks again.

Mike West you will still need molly for the cross hatching, and the cheap 9.00 small break hone from harbour freight and a extension to install it in to reach down the receiver I'll do a video showing how to convert to a gas ram on the 95, I make the adapters for both ends they cost 23.00 shipped/ since I have the seal coming l will toss that in the video also. air rifle head quarters sells the piston seal for the hatsan 125 & 135 & 95 but you will want to check your barrels bore to see what is going on inside so look at the pt 2 of the 125 & 135 more info vids
@mikewest1336
@mikewest1336 9 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, Good to know you make the adapters, but which gas-ram do you use, and where do you get it from? I know that JM/ARH has the seals, but I was thinking they were over-sized & needed to be turned down? As far as cross-hatching, I'll look into the brake hone. In the past, I've use 400 grit & wood dowl. Not the best method to be sure, but I understand the purpose of the cross-hatch is similar to a primer, in that you want to feather the edge of the steel so the moly can stick & stay? Now, the bore swag you do is interesting, but I'm not completely sure what my results mean. For example, my bore is seriously Jumpy-tight using Crosman Premiers. It was a fight to get them through the barrel, and they are deeply scratched when they exit. In contrast, Diabolo 18.13 went through with almost no drag, and no choke drag at all. Crow Magnums felt just right. Kind of like the story of the three (3) bears and their oatmeal. I'm left thinking that the test results are more a matter of pellet head size, but truthfully I've never performed the test on my German guns. Shooting makes no difference because my 95 performs badly with everything. Still, I'm left thinking that the rifle will perform if I can get the factory grease out, tighten the spring or ram, and perhaps cut the power 10% +/-. I'm thinking that the 95's power will fit somewhere between my RWS 34 and my 350, but the 95 has less weight & lenght as compared to the 350. That makes the project worth the effort. Thanks again.

Hi Mike I posted another two part video should give you the info you need. you mention piston seals from JM being over sized ? No the factory seals are undersized and jm make them correct. in the video it talks about what ram to use and even how to install a seal/ but go back to the others for more details you will; need your gonna ned a spring compressor but 1st ck your barrel to see what its doing inside/ no sense going thru al this only to have a bad barrel.

Hey Mike, thank you for the videos on how to work on these awesome rifles. My question is; since I own an older Hatsan Mod. 135 in .22 caliber, without the Quattro trigger, how many shots can I expect from my rifle before the spring needs to be replaced? I live in Patagonia, Argentina, at the very end of the World, and was wondering who might care to ship internationally a replacement spring, seal, etc. since it cannot be found here in my country. I really love my Hatsan and look forward to buy a lighter model, perhaps a 95 or a 99 just for the sake of it. I never expected such accuracy and power, which rivals and sometimes exceeds that of any of my German made rifles (RWS 34, 48, 350 Magnum) I recently killed a hare at about 70 metres with a single head shot from this beast. I would like, if and when the gun needs to be rebuild, to get the same power I'm obtaining from stock. Thank you again and keep up the good work! And yes, I subscribed!

Hello, thank you for the reply. I will keep it in mind and as soon as I get a chance I will disassemble my rifle and a friend's 125 to compare the springs, but like you said, they are probably the same, although I noticed a slight difference in power between the two models, the 135 being a little bit hotter. Perhaps it's nothing but my perception as I don't own a Crony or similar apparatus, although the penetration on various materials tell the difference in power. To me it's important as I use my rifle for hunting small game at rather long distances for an air rifle (hares are unapproachable here) Regards, Carlo.

I dont know what the holland kit 370 m/s double steel springs is you mentioned. but in my hatsan 125 I will be installing the vorteck spring from vorteck products and will be slightly detune , if needed to to smooth the shot cycle out. If I was to use a gas ram it would be the crosman XL gas ram costing about 32.00 shipped. BUT be careful because the hatsan vorteck ram is longer and to drop in a xl gas ram will take some re setting up to shift the xl ram in its proper place. To date I have not gone thru it to see whats the in's and outs, or issues it could have in doing the change. Its different if you had a 125 or 135 hatsan springer and wanted to gas ram it compared to re raming a hatsan vorteck rifle with another gas ram. the hatsan vorteck ram is the same name as vorteck products they are two different companies.. Can I help you with anything ? Personally Iam going with the vorteck spring, and my custom delrin fitted spring guides, I make them for people using their spring . I heard good things from a good friend who used the vorteck spring. Send me the link or website to the company you were using with the holland kit 370 m/s double steel springs thank you for sharing your ordeal I do my best to in power air gunners so they dont have to rely on others and get ripped off thru the process! it is a disgrace what companies like hatsan do, the only reason I buy their rifles is because I know I can work them and refine them, I enjoy the projects. They are over design, over powered, and need to be detuned & worked. regards Mike

I have a hatsan 125th .177 caliber vortex and a hatsan 125th .25 caliber spring..... my question is can I swap just the barrel from my .25-caliber spring rifle to my .177-caliber Vortex piston rifle? or does it not match up? thanks
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 7 жыл бұрын
Yes you can! Only difference is the bore size everything else hatsan uses is the same, thees guns are best in .25 cal because of the larger bore size it will be smoother shot cycle/ the other calibers cause the harsher shot cycle in these over designed rifles
@jswizzle8r4
@jswizzle8r4 7 жыл бұрын
Is the bore on the gas piston side where the barrel and piston side meet when you close the barrel after cocking it ,a standard size or are they different depending on the barrel bore size?.... I'm asking because the bore on the piston side of the .177-caliber looks like it's the same size as the barrel side, and the .25-caliber barrel side looks alot bigger than the bore of the .177 vortex piston side.... I hope that I'm making sense or that you understand what I'm trying to say..... I'm just wondering if at different calibers, does the bore on the piston side is differ in sizes aswell to correspond with the caliber or are they all the same size no matter what the caliber size is? Thanks

Do you happen to have a video showing the swap of a hatsan .25-caliber springer rifle to a .177-caliber vortex piston so that the .25-caliber goes from a springer to a Vortex piston off of a .177-caliber? And what I have to do to make the swap....? If not can you pleeeeeeeease make one...thanks I'm a 23 year old woman who's pretty handy with tools and just need someone to show me how to do the swap and I think I can follow suit. ...thanks if not its ok I'll figure it out. ..thanks again, you are absolutely the best person on KZbin that shows detailed description and information on working on these things, I really appreciate your channel, thanks again. ...

the air chamber port hole on the receiver between the forks should be the same, if one is dished out a tad more it may look bigger but they should be the same 177/ .22/.25 all take the same spring and piston size etc / what changes the shot cycle to being better on thees big guns is the barrel being .25, its larger and the air from the shot cycle is moved easier for a better piston balance instead of the piston hitting a wall because the air can't leave at the proper time

your welcome. clean the bore with patches and goo gone then do a pellet to bore test to see what the pellet to bore fit is like, hatsan is notorious for having bad barrels. you push the pellet down thru the bore slowly" while feeling what the pellet fit feels like it could have loose spots free fall or to tight areas etc or hopefully a consistent light pellet drag, if the bore is bad you would need to send it back before tampering with the insides

Does this apply to the vortex rifle also?
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 5 жыл бұрын
If you are referring about the end plug , the vortex may be easier because the end plug is in two pieces, rather than one solid plug, still it may need some tapping out, and most likely once out it will need to be dremeled down to get back in
@nickolasc4167
@nickolasc4167 5 жыл бұрын
Yea i was referring to the end plug sorry. Am I correct to assume this is the basic process in replacing the piston seal and polishing the cylinder it rides in? What form of lubrication do recommend for the piston seal?
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 5 жыл бұрын
@@nickolasc4167 Not at all Nick hatsans are a P I A to work on, once you pull the trigger you need to make a smaller trigger sear pin to put it back the receiver end area needs to be reamed out good so you dont nck your piston seal going back in heck just removing the stock can be a challenge/ even re installing it due to mis aligned trigger pins far as inside the receiver you can degrease with brake cleaner spray. For lube I use super teck high pressure , high temperature, synthetic lube its red and in a can with a peel back lid, it's in walmart / not the auto stores/ I wouldn't polish the air chamber area// when I use moly paste I then cross hatch the air chamber but I have not been using that for a while now/ You should watch as many of the how to vid I posted on removing the stock etc re installing and so on

can i Change the Barrel in my 125 Vortex, without taking Out the powerplant? because i've bought the normal Version because it is lightweight and hast a nicer Stock But it has no silencer. so i want to cange the Barrel for the sniper Barrel with silencer. is that a good ideal?
@MrSteppingstone888
@MrSteppingstone888 7 жыл бұрын
You should be able to do that, the 125 blocks should be the same. Break the barrel open to relieve the tension on the barrel pivot bolt then pull the bolt out for disassembly. If you know the snipers barrel is good then I think that a good ideal. keep in mind what side the stocks the nut" is on and the side of the stock the bolt head is and be sure to put the stock bolt back in the same side

I just bought a hatsan 135 it was supposed to be a springer version but came thru with a vortex gas ram. I never got to test the two gas rams side by side before but I would bet the crosman ram is stronger. how ever until I get to test both side by side the vortex ram may be less piston slam if it happens to be less power, I suspect it is. the vortex ram has 1/2 of the end of the receiver built into it ,so in order to change a gas ram to a crosman ram you would need to order the end plug as hatsan calls it, that is the plastic end the three large pins go thru and holds the trigger block in place. the sniper barrel with the built on silencer works. but cleaning the barrels and doing the pellet to bore test will tell you which is the better barrel, a bad barrel that's quite doesn't do much good LOL. power wise gees I can't even remember in .25 what the norm was. but if yours is a .25 then you have the best caliber for that gun because it really tames the shot cycle down as the norm with other calibers is the rifles have a huge piston slam due to the fact that it is way over designed. I made the videos for guys who would be interested and hopefully teach some to learn more about what they can do themselves its a great sport for shooting and doing and learning and having projects to get into

Wow do you get side tracked a lot! This video is way way more about life hacks, then it is about the break barrel in the picture. Did anyone happen to count how many times he said “anyway” and “alright”? That’s usually the “I am getting back on track” cue. Instead of grinding a screwdriver out of a chisel or making one from scratch, a much quicker way to address that would be to find a screwdriver that is the correct width, and fits in the groove of the screw. If there is a lot of slop, simply grind down the tip of the screwdriver till it fits the groove snug. The more you grind the tip down, the longer and wider the tip of the screwdriver will get.

Well aren't you the observant one. #1 screw drivers are not as thick even when going back from the tip / chisels are perfect for making the correct "FIT" to a large screw head made in a turkish factory from cheap junk steel. #2 the video was made when I first started out probably didn't even have the cordless mic everything was done off the cuff for the benefit of those who will be able to benefit from the info, which BTW ass hole has been alot since 4 yrs time Its people like you that ruin it for everyone else because of your A H attitude they will find the bad before the good. #3 Go buy one spend the money out of your pocket and buy one and go for it! work on it yourself then get back to me
