Indian music is to connect with divine. If your desire is to connect with divine God will send the suitable Guru. Most people need to work to earn money. Its hard to spend 8 to 10 hours practising music. Its not the amount of time you spent practising its how you practise. Its very wrong to say that if a teacher refuses to teach you you should stop learning music. There is a difference between teacher and Guru. A Guru will not refuse a sincere student even if he or she is not that proficient. A teacher may refuse but there are many teachers who can help with teaching the skills etc. I am very disappointed with what Sri Chakroborty is saying.

Not sure what sri Chakrobaty is saying is true. Not all well known musicians are sincere teachers. Lot of them are after name fame and money. If your desire to learn music is deep God shows the way. Even if you are not talented and desire is strong you will learn. I dont agree with what resp. Chakrobaty is saying. Lot of good musicians may not have lot of performing students. Music is to build a relationship with God and not with world. Even if you make mistake in singing divine power will show the way. Satchitananda is the highest Guru. How can you tell some one to leave your desire to learn music just because the worldly Gurus have no time and charging so much fee.

In the era of smartphone it is not completely right. It's a perspective only. On youtube one can find legends teaching music. There are courses. Not everyone is capable to pay the fee often a Guru charges to make a student learn. It is not at all GURU MUKHI, we Indians have made it narrow and centred only among the riches.

You cannot ever learn classical music in it's purest form without a guru. You cannot learn how to render a ragaa , the aesthetics ,the style , the intricate techniques without a guru.

It is gurumukhi..any art form be it singing, dancing ,painting or anything else..because these art forms are vast like the sky and deeper than oceans.So its impossible for us to learn even a bit of it without a guru..even studies is guru mukhi.. We can never embark on our journey of learning without a proper guide and that guide is guru.. May be u don't have enough knowledge regarding the aspects of music specially Indian classical music..that's why u hv dropped such a stupid comment.. Wish u gather some soulful knowledge about its aspects.
