Thanks to your video I was able to access the small lever and wrap it with one turn of 1/4 " gorilla tape and reassemble it (ok, on the 3rd try) and the fog lights now turn off.

anyone know which wires go to the fog lights on the column under dash, wanting to just hook them to a toggle switch that lights up where powered

re-wire put a led lite switch on dash so fog light can been seen by the driver when on/ cheapest but may be not best solution

I managed to work it free with a craft knife, bit of a job though.

Does the new switch still work? Comments on other videos said the new switch went bad after several months.

Yes still works. Should last for ages since you are replacing plastic with metal.

May depend on year? Multifunction switch (=turn signal switch plus) was same from 2001-05, but 2006-13 models had slightly different multifunction switch without fog light (and very different wiring under hood). For 2001-05 years, the symptom of both hazard and turn signals dead suggests a bad flasher relay, which is a part that handles both signals. Replacement LED compatible flasher relay is Novita LM470, $33 at Autozone. Other causes could be: bad ground connection in MFS connector or both fuses STOP 15? and HAZ 18? under hood. Warning: if you had put in wrong flasher relay, you probably blew both fuses. Replace relay with correct relay, and replace both fuses. For 2006 onward check wiring diagram for your year. I suspect it is similar, but u should verify. From it u can find single points of failure that would block both hazard and turn signals but my bet is still flasher relay.

I never use my foglights, so why can't I just pull the bulbs out?

Sure, that works. or you can simply pull the FOG fuse. In my 2001, it is fuse 8, inside fuse box. Same for all 2001-05, later not sure. That info is embossed on the fuse door, in case u have different year.

No, 2001-05. The MFS has no fog switch from 2006 on.
