My older brother brought a sitar home back in 1970. Ravi Shankar and George Harrison inspired me. The riff I first learned was the sitar from Norwegian Wood. Ravi is the Maestro.

@@ashleyafonso3425 thats not true, one person can be more musically inclined than someone else, they can put in the same exact about of effort and get different results. Some people are naturally tone def some arent. Are you telling me the tone def people just didnt work hard enough when other didnt put any work it. Some people have perfect pitch, many dont or are more cordinated also from the start. Talent is a real thing. Thats not to say to become a master of something you dont have to spend countless hours honing it but talent is absolutely real. Some people will never be able to reach the heights of some others. I mean you have very intricate sports like skateboarding for instance where young teens havent put half the time into practice that some older skaters in there 20s have and go take gold in competitions. Ive seen literal children shred in guitar center and other musicians have played for decades continually and arent as good as them. Again, to be clear, hard work is important and will take you far but your just wrong if you think that some people are more gifted than others in certain ways whether it be musically, academically, in terms of cordination etc

It's called luck. His first wife (Annapurna Devi) played better than him but he(after marriage) never allowed her to perform in public. Another legend (Nikhil Banerjee) passed away young. Of course, He's a legend but I don't know if people like him are born in centuries, coz all three of them were born in the 20th century

In the Indian tradition, you don’t treat the instrument as being obedient to you. The instrument is an embodiment of Saraswati (Vidya/Learning), and you respect it and worship it.

His performance of Raag bhimpalsi at the monterey music festival is my favorite by him. Found the cd at a thrift store and fell in love with classical Indian music. His collaboration with Phillip Glass is also good.

@ankurgogia7163 In the music-field he is known for being perfect gentleman and everybody would like his amiable nature. Personal life and relationships are separate issues. Take the case of Michel Platini .......... as he was a footballer, only his onfield behaviour was considered for judging him and he was considered a perfect gentleman with nicest behaviour even towards his opponents. But otherwise he was infamous for being associated with monetary fraud case.

@@litjukebox do you know the reason for shakuni's vengeance? try to look at the situation from his side. his sister was married to a blind person without knowledge and there was nothing she or he could do about it, because of bheeshma. so if you ask me, i would have probably done the same thing, if it would have been my sister who would have suffered gandhari's fate. and then, do read about the fate of the Gandhar king, whose son shakuni was.
