Great stuff man... I am exactly what you said i started with nitro after nitro finally gave up and went brushless.... i am fairly good at tuneing a nitro but always had problems with stock nitro motors... and was tired of trying to keep them running and not haveing fun playin so went brushless and wish they would make nitro easier to just start and play... love the info your shareing.. here makes alot of sense maybe i might get myself a nicer motor and throw it in one of my kits and see how long it lasts..... Love your content, I was one of the many that got out of the hobby because the engines/quality on the rtr were so frustrating. I had a duratrax axis, and duratrax maximum st. They were so much fun when they ran, but I sold them :( however I just bought a kyosho tki4 spec a buggy to get back in the hobby, trying to do it right this time! Love your passion for the hobby

jay inman thank you my Nitro Brother I appreciate that! What fuel do you run? Do you set your Piston at BDC every time your done running your motor? If your Piston gets stuck at top dead center when new or during break in of the Engine ? That could happen to any motor.! Take your time with the PICCO Boost! It takes longer and more fuel to Break In the PICCO motors.

Your so correct I had a no name Chinese engine with a backplate and that ran forever no problem. But my Lrp 30x with a one way bearing sucked it wouldn't tune it high idled wouldn't stay running not saying lrp sucks just the ones with the one ways do. So seal you engines, all your nitro fans should make a anti- one way bearing group bro!!!! 😂 and that picco boost makes me want a losi 8t and a picco boost again. But unfortunately I have to build my 65cc build than maybe I'll get back into nitro.

Update on the Memphisto on road .... omg its unreal , it’s drag modded from Adam and reshimmed for 65% and it’s unreal bro . Rips on 30% too . I have all the Novi on roads to date all modded and this one takes the cake ... but I still need to test the my Virtus and Mito 35 wc but zamnnn zamnnn zamnnn it’s sikkk ! Great curve and just rips! Highly recommend when u do your onroad - side note it’s unreal tight you going to need to do 2+gallons on the Hudy.

old vid but anyone with a 4.6 HPI the new version if you are wanting to remove the backplate / pull start I found that the DYNE 1506 dynamite backplate fits perfect the holes are off a hair so just put bolts in slow and all 4 before you tighten any of them and it works great and mine is on my rtr 4.6 truggy and is fast as shit now impressed the shit out of me for a rtr engine

The ke21r from kyosho is my work horse engine I ran 6 tanks today straight lol just pulling the tank lid and filling while running. It stalled like 3 times only In 2 hours.

joe price that's a easy one! Nova 28/8 all day! I like the LRP .30 and 32 but it's to much for a savage x! Even the 28/8 nova will be a hand full in a savage x! Keep me posted . 28/8 if broken in properly will last a long time and great power and best running! It's a better quality.

I am getting back onto RC, I wish I had a track that was close but I have a huge field behind my house and a high school behind that with lots of good bashing spots. I am buying the 8ight-t RTR 4.0 with the Dynamite .28, starter box, and the backplate (I already bought the TLR engine mounts). I would go with the kit and a Novarossi Roma .25 but I figure since I have nothing except a few tools, I am going to get the RTR and upgradethings as I need.

New2Kendo bro I got the RTR 4.0 for my kids to use because it's very durable for a RTR RC and great Platform for a beginner to learn off of! It's very slow for me but with time we can change that!! Lol! It does have a work horse of a motor Dynamite.28 and it will run tank after tank many times without stopping if you get your tune right and it will give you lots of hrs of fun!!

New2Kendo you only need one 4 S Lipo for your bump box but you will have to solder a connector on it to eliminate the 2 tamia style plugs. And I recommend Byrons 30/11 %

Is there any good medium block nitros?? I have a Team associated MGT 3.0 with the original 18 original power plant. I may end up replacing it with a .28 or higher eventually. But so far that size 18 has been amazing. I rebuilt it yesterday after years . And it will absolutely haul ass right now. But I'm just wondering if you know of any good 18 or 21s that would be decent.. ?? I don't feel like paying a arm in a leg for nitro engine but something with decent power good price in the medium size blocks.??

Damon Mullins I would try to get a MGT 4.6 or 8.0 if I were you ? I was not a fan of the 3.0 brother but if that’s what you like ? Try to install a HPI 4.6 Engine in it ! I like that engine for a non back plate and non bumpstart engine. You can even try a 28-8 Novarossi Engine But only in pull start form . What you should really do is buy a RTR LOSI 8 Truggy or a used 3.0 or 4.0. You will do much more and be much happier with a platform like that and your Nitro experience will be way way better and exciting!! Good luck 🍀 to you my NITRO BROTHER Damon 👍🏼🤝👊

Hey John, I just bought my first turbo engine but it came without copper washer under the glow plug. So do they normally don't use the washers or did they forget to install one?

Racing Bashing RCs Turbo Heads that use turbo plugs do not use washers only turbo plugs but make sure if you run a Picco ? Only use Picco or Mirlin plugs and if you want in a Novarossi? Only Nova plugs and O.S. to O.S. Because they are shaped differently from one another and if you use the wrong one ? You won’t have a good seal or worse damage the head !!

just to keep u updated..novarossi disassembled my legend engine and decided it was a factory defect so they either want to send me another one or refund money, what's your thoughts on the picco boost 28 compared to legend 28-8? for lst

jay inman I wish I never got my beautiful.28 PICCO Boost in roto start lol!! Wish it was sealed with back plate only so I would have more fun with it on a Truggy. I may still do that one of these days? The only reason why I don't do that now is because my PICCO Boost is Modded from ERCM and I would have to replace the crank shaft to make it the way I want and if I do that? It would be a plain stock motor. There not like the LRPs and others that you can keep the same crankshaft and change out back plates. I can't give you that answer yet my Nitro brother because I have not tried out my 28/8 yet but I will soon! The only thing is that my 28/8 is modded by Neal from TNS so it may also not be the same from stock so it will be hard to answer that for you! The LST is my favorite MT along with the MGT but there nothing like a Truggy ! LST is the closest the Muggy is the best but Truggies are the way to go . I'll keep you updated with my TNS28/8 . I have it already broken in from last year but never dropped it on my Losi Truggy yet. I was just having to much fun with the TNS.32 but I hear a lot of great things about it!

Nitro Wave the REX Legend 28/8 is bad ass as a sealed motor bump box even a bone stock one But if you can't use one on the MT platform your using and you just have a soft spot for your special MT then yes the 28/8 with a Roto start or pull start oneway bearing motor would be great for sure!!!

Nice understanding for motors. I have a question for mixing oil and gas in stock 26cc hpi baja. I use castrol full synthetic racing 🏁 2 stroke oil. Is it OK to use 25:1 like the manual said or? Thanks!!

MadRc Max that oil is fine but I love ❤️ all my engines so I have to use the best as possible so I use AMSOIL oil called Dominator! They tell you to use 25:1 because it's in the middle of 24:1 that should be used for break in and 28:1 that should be used for running after the first gallon. Some people even run 32:1 ! 28:1 will help you run a little cooler and it still has lots of protection so don't be afraid of it!! 25:1 is a way of companies saying leave me alone and that will work for both ways without the constant questions

Roy Mariano sure you can I have done that and my brother in law has done that to his kids Savage.25 motor that has over 6 gallons threw that. Just make sure your 30% Nitro has 11% Oil in it!!! And that it has a 50/50 mix of Castor and synthetic oils! It must use those 2 oils!

That’s cool but forget about the buggy and go TRUGGY !!!! Especially since your coming from a MT back ground. Truggies can do it all and some. It will do everything a Buggy does and do everything a MT will do just much better. Get your little buggy fix on afterwards of your next build. Team Associated Truggies are real nice but I prefer you get a Truggy with C-hubs instead of pivot ball system because there more durable especially for real bashing. and there also good for racing at a race track but some guys like pivot ball set ups for racing. But racing and bashing are 2 different worlds . I prefer C-hubs for both and so do many others . You do what feels good for you but it’s a proven fact that C-hub set up is more durable.

I bought a new legend 28-8 and it's a complete animal in my lst. But even from out of the box it never had any cylinder pinch like my lrp 32. And when it heats up it hardly has any compression at all!! And it dosnt like to start up when it warm.but once it's running it's very strong. Is this normal? I run O'Donnell's speedblend 20% and broke it in with that also. I ended up sending engine back to absolute hobbyz to see if they can figure out what's going on with the legend. Are those normal characteristics of the legend? No cylinder pinch? Hard to start after warmed up? Thanks for your help

jay inman you may have a warn out sleeve or who ever broke in the motor from new did not do the heat cycle break in right or the Piston could have bin stuck on top instead of bottom dead center BDC?? That's what it sounds like to me and I have seen that happen many times on other people's motors.

jay inman I can't sell any ERCM Pipe I have because they are my favorite and they are hard to get now because Robin has a full time job now and he's always on the road. You can try to ask Rick from RB Mods if he has anymore left because he started to sell them for Robin in the USA 🇺🇸. Robin from ERCM is from Canada 🇨🇦 just in case you didn't know. I love both of them SideBleed and EndBleed! EndBleed is just Nasty and scares the Eword Bitches out from the park and I love that shit! But you can try out a Novarossi Pipe 9886 or a 9853 until you come across a ERCM Pipe someday. I love Robins pipes but I will never get another motor modded by him! If I want my PICCO Boost modded again it will be threw Neal from TNS only and if he's busy or can't do it then I will go to Rick from RB Mods! Trust me on this to help save you lots of headaches. Now if your PICCO Boost was going to be in a Truggy I would go Nova headers 41032, 41001, and 41033 and for pipes I would do 9886, 9853, or Dynamite 086 or even an old OFNA 086 if you can find them? If it's for LST ? Then I would go RD Lodgics Header and if you need part number? Let me know I have it at home and any of those pipes I said . Some people have had run the shorty Nova Header 41015 like I have done but I didn't like it much! The LST is to heavy for that short OnRoad Nova pipe in my opinion so I recommend RD Lodgics it flows better and produces great Torque. But if you want the most Torque? BOTAJELL I was about to ask the same question. I would love to have a truggy, but i don't think they would be good in the types of areas I run and how I use my RC. I'm usually in kid of high grass, really loose sand, wooded areas, etc. I think it would be better for me to stay with larger tires and more ground clearance. If I had a car that had more power and could jump better, I really wouldn't use it to its full potential. I just want durability and reliability. The t maxx has shown me neither. Lol. I am thinking about upgrading to a bigger, better truck.What do you think about Losi MTXL?

Rc. hotboyz I'll help you! Sell all those motors you got and get 1 good one ! If you running Truggy ? Start of with a stock Novarossi.28/8 and when you get good then you can get a modded one after! Make sure it's the .28 with the 8 ports not the shity regular.28. Also you can try out a LRP .30 X that comes with back plate or a .32 but you will need to buy a $18 back plate for it and if you want you can also run a Nova carb on it?

Rc. hotboyz then I recommend 2 RCs because if you want the most out of you RC for Bashing? You won't be able to use it at the race track because it won't handle well at the track because to over powered for it. Mr. Sideways bro I still and always will have it!! Lol! Wish I had 2 of them so I could turn it into a Bad ass Killer Modern day Modified NITRO MUGGY!! I would put it on a diet a bit with some carbon fiber parts and throw a TNS MODIFIED.32 in it !! I just can’t do nothing to this one because it’s worth some money because it’s all Original and Bone Stock and Not even a scratch on the original body and rims and tires are like new still! The original airfilter is rotting away but I will not replace it lmao 😂! It’s great unbelievable you have to see it in person !

My Trx 3.3 engines never treat me well. They always idle high and just have no low end.

Alien Bounce try some Byrons fuel 30/11% next time it will help out with that! But at the end of the day it's still a RTR crap TRX 3.3 little motor and no comparison to a PICCO, Novarossi, and even other Some of the other RTR motors like the Dynamite and HPI motors . I can get my crap 3.3 motor to go ok with that fuel and on a light weight rc like a rustler. I also got it running pretty good on my past Tmaxs and Revos but it was nothing like the performance I got from my modded Revos and Mad Max's that I made with real big block motors there was no comparison!

I have a video of that 3.3 on the table in my Rustler and it got to hit the high note sound 🔊. I will look for the link so you can see it and hear it and I was using my own custom home made spur gear.
