When my husband and I were engaged, there was a short period where we were fighting a lot. One night we went to a friends bbq and my husband was asked to lead us in prayer before eating. When we were leaving, a girl friend of ours followed us out and told my husband how wonderful his prayer was and how it touched her. It was innocent, but the Lord used that to convict me!! I remember thinking “all he is hearing from me is criticism. Do I really want other women filling his cup with praise?” Ever since that day, 6 years ago, I have made it a point to compliment and praise my husband every single day.

27:30 This part is so true. I’ve been dressing more feminine lately, and yesterday while I was at target I was the only woman I saw wearing a long floral skirt. I actually caught SEVERAL men turning their heads back to look at me. Which I’m not concerned about their attention, because I am married and my husband was also with me. But I kid you not, for YEARS I have not been dressing feminine, sadly I can take it back to AFTER I became married. I became lazy and my daily attire consisted of huge baggy shirts and biker shorts. Of course I didn’t get anyone turning their heads to look at me.. not even my husband! But now that I dress feminine I am hearing multiple times a day from my husband how beautiful I am!! I didn’t even tell him what I was doing and how I was going to change my wardrobe. So seeing this natural reaction and shift in his perception towards me is so wonderful! I’m ready to throw all my baggy shirts and biker shorts in the trash lol 😂

@@JosieBarberryour comment means a lot to me. I just had our 4th baby and that has been my attire, t shirts and sweatpants in the house. I lost a ton of weight and it’s made me insecure. My first pregnancy took so much out of me, it caused dental problems. It’s so embarrassing. My husband asks me to dress nice for him; buying lingerie or just something nice to bed, like silk nightgowns. I’ve been so insecure that when I put something nice on for him, I cover it with a robe 🥺. I’m 32 and we have been married for almost 9 years this coming March. I have no godly women in my life. This is so important. I grew up conservative black baptist. I was taught at an early age that female sexual desire was something to be ashamed of. My mother was not as severe as my grandma but she still managed to make me feel ashamed of myself for any sort of feminine beauty I might have portrayed. I was a strong willed child and kinda refused to be completely unfashionable. I did cover up but I didn't think pretty prints or pink or red colors were evil. Nothing in the Bible told me any one color was evil. When I did finally married I felt ashamed when my husband called me beautiful or when he liked an outfit I was wearing. From the years of nonsense I grew up in I felt like attracting my husband was wrong even though the Bible doesn't say that.

Imagine not knowing how babies are made and being married....yeah nope I wasn't about to let that happen lol.

When you guys were addressing self-confidence I do want to point out how a lot of things that we think about ourselves are purely in our head. When our culture says to fix a problem we think of surgery and body modification to look like somebody else. Rather than have an honest conversation with ourselves about comparison and self-worth. I think it's worth it to really go to God in prayer about how we feel about ourselves and our identity. Our identity should be wrapped up in Christ not in man's standard for us.

My husband in subtle way has let me know I have gained weight, the old me would have gone off but now that I have been walking closer to God he has been letting me know that I have been eating badly and my husband is right. I realized that my husband missed the woman that was when we first got married. I ate healthy, always had myself put together and exercised. We are two kids in now and things change but I know I can get back to taking better care of myself. I have an unhealthy relationship with food and I have asked God to help me make better food choices and he is.

I like the points about sexual expression in the bedroom. I’ve listened to some ministries that seem to deem certain acts that aren’t considered “procreative” as wrong. Churches are either completely silent on sex or have too much control over what goes on. It has definitely been a challenge to come out of that. It’s important to do what your spouse likes and vice versa but also have healthy boundaries if something is too far.
@Tania-rg7jp2 жыл бұрын
Nazarenes and Hebrews only had sex to procreate because they practiced spiritual alchemy. If you were in the priesthood you got other practices akin to tantra but commoners were told only to have sex to procreate. Regular sex drains spiritual power. They were not worried about losing their husbands because divorce was mostly forbidden and many husbands had bondage concubines/slaves who they used. Those are the parts Christians leave out. Christians like to cherry pick what to follow and not follow but do what thou will.

This was a very good episode. I love that you touched on sexuality. Especially how you emphasized that it should be consenting and as long as no one is getting injured or it's something the other person is uncomfortable with, have the freedom to engage with each other. Married couples should have all the fun. We have God's permission to do so. The church tiptoes if that around sex as if it's a dirty secret. God made it for us. So glad to hear a healthy convo about it. I am a late 40s woman and we are empty nesters. It is time for us to really enjoy ourselves. I even told my kids please do not come over unannounced. We do not want to shatter your dreams 🤣. Keeping up our appearance is so important too. I am guilty of not dressing up to go the store. @kennethfok Жыл бұрын
Not just sons, even in the presence of daughters, modest dressing is also important. The not so modest dressing should be reserved solely for your husband and it should never be worn outside of the bedroom. That would also be a good way to teach your daughter about dressing modestly. And how would you classify modest dressing at home? Should mothers and daughters be allowed to walk around the house without wearing a bra?

I’m not gonna front I’m a brother and I’m here. Love this content a lot. I think one of the reasons the church avoids sex almost completely sometimes is because of not wanting to be in peoples business, which as a man of God I appreciate that. I don’t need my pastor or anyone else all in that space na mean? And I think the ones that do deal with it tend to go beyond say 1 Cor. 7 and about not depriving each other. I think it’s too far and all into folks business if they talk about too much in the church. And as far and a husband and wife being comfortable with each other, and I know this often doesn’t happen but sometimes it does, husbands and wives are perfectly capable of being in authority over their sex life. Didn’t quite say this the way I wanted to lol but yea good stuff yall.

Thank you for sharing that. Since I started taking seriously my relationship with our God I have let go of myself. I used to dress with very tight clothes and straighten my hair all the time but lately I donated all of my tight clothes and tried leaving my hair naturally how He created it but I stopped caring as much on my day to day to groom myself and I was kind of feeling guilty of trying to hard to make myself pretty but this makes soo much sense

Thank you for this transparent and clean video to help us out ! :) a couple of inquiring questions : how do/should we develop the 'know how' in the bedroom? Should we read certain books to be a 'professional', or are you saying it comes with time ?lol what resources would you recommend to aid us in becoming a professional ?

I remember I read a comment on a blog I follow. (Which will remain unnamed to protect the privacy of the person mentioned) but this lady said her and her husband had both grown up in a church that told it's congregants that a woman was not allowed to feel pleasure in the marriage bed as that was sinful. Only the husband was allowed. And the concept of mutual pleasure was shocking to her. But at the same time, she was in a lot of pain because she never got any pleasure out of it. It was also a topic her husband refused to discuss. It literally hurt my heart hearing that. I love wearing lingerie. I love God's design for marriage. Sex appeal within the confines of marriage is vital. I need to work on it more and I need to lose weight and make an effort in my appearance.. I loved this video.❤️

I do 38:16 think most husbands would agree!!!!! They love us respecting him in our public modesty --- BUT they want to see all the goodies and the fruit and the effort we are putting in! It makes it special!! Exclusivity for outfits at home is fantastic… I highly recommend that. I agree about the lingerie as well. It is effort. It is a way to show love and show something special just for him!!

I get "modesty in public", I get "lingerie in my husbands and my bedroom", but I'm not really sure what is meant by "outfits at home". What would be an example for this? Especially when there are kids around :))
@heyitssammij2 жыл бұрын
@@f.t.5874 it varies depending on the time of day, ages of kids, etc. Just an apron while bringing him dessert, just a jersey while he’s watching the game, showing him new swimsuits for approval, the dress that’s just too short for public, the shirts that show the cleavage, lingerie of course, but be creative with your closet! Trench coats and heels with the lingerie… cowboy boots and those old jean shorts, wigs, tight dresses, anything you think he’d enjoy - literally just *anything* that will create a visual interest of “not the normal “- it almost becomes a game of the drastic difference from covered in public to spicy for him 🌶️- it reminds him that he’s a 👑 king to you and is the only one to get this part of you!

I love both of you and loved this video! Now I will not just say "I am a good decorator" and study how to become one haha! Some ideas for future interviews; I really love Lori from The Transformed Wife on KZbin, as well as Robin with Faith and Flour on KZbin. Both Robin and Lori are older Christian women and have a lot of wisdom. I am 49 which is most likely a little older than your typical viewer, however I think the older women are here to teach the younger women as it is written in the Bible to share their wisdom. I think an interview with Lori and/or Robin will be a blessing on your channel. God bless you both today, and thank you for sharing your experiences and insight.

So this was a great conversation. When you guys were talking about weight gain I saw how there is a conflation between beauty and weight. I think that the reason why the Slavic cultures can so freely speak about weight as it relates to health is because they have not coupled it with beauty. I think that Americans have gotten those two terms confused. For example if I tell my friend I've gotten fat she will say no you look beautiful. I know I'm beautiful and I'm also fat. Two different things. Lizzo is a beautiful woman who is also fat. I don't think that it's a bad thing to tell someone that they have gained weight out of concern for their health. And it just so happens that when you focus on taking care of yourself that you enhance your beauty. Just my two cents

All women are beautiful… Created in Gods image! However, would the same woman not be MORE beautiful at a healthier weight? Food for thought

I think the problem is people confuse Beauty as in who you are on the insidea beautiful soul with attractiveness. Just because you're a beautiful soul doesn't mean you're attractive.
@danief9292 жыл бұрын
I completely agree!
@dahliaherrod43012 жыл бұрын
@@marissajones1840 yes but even the idea of attractiveness is subjective and includes other traits besides physical beauty. Oftentimes when people speak of attractiveness they also include intangible traits like a good personality, competency, or a sense of humor

7:08 thank you! I love how you always highlight the difference. Because people are on here talking foolishness about how men are marrying "plain janes" and not the baddies 🤣 🤦🏾♀️ first of all there's nothing plain about being modest and beautiful, especially if you have a great sense of fashion. And men understand that she's a "baddie" in the bedroom.. I need to send them this.

You are 100000% on point about the church overcorrecting! I was brought up and taught sex=bad So now that I have all these questions, I feel like a pariah if I ever dare to ask. And it's completely destroyed my confidence and ability to gauge what I'm supposed to be doing here... It's high time we switched the narrative! You should SOOOOO do a seminar or a conference!
