Azovstal integrated iron & steel works and other metallurgical companies of Mariupol are parts of the Metinvest Holding. This is the Ukranian holding with manufacturing capacities in Ukraine, Bulgaria, Italy, the UK, the USA and with plans to buy a plant in Hungary. Azovstal was built in Soviet times with deep underground shelters, that's why civilians and Azov soldiers used to hide in shelters of Azovstal. Now, Metinvest Holding is working on providing the army of Ukraine with support. Mariupol, the vibrant Eastern Ukranian industrial city, became the city of martyrs. Lots of people just disappeared since 24 February 2022. P.S. I know a guy who was the director of quality of Azovstal. We both were students of Ukranian-German female professor.

Hello Olga. I found you during the first days of the Exodus. You seem to not have an agenda other than a love for your Ukraine. Thank you for this one. The pictures and her story brings it home for me. Those of us that have lived the life. She is a very brave young woman. Pains me to see young people growing up and having to rise to the occasion. However, this gives inspiration to all. What I hate, that's in every war including my short lived one, is the corruption and politics that goes into it all. I feel for my Brother's and Sisters in Arms from the past, present, and future. They are the protectors...the humanitarians...that pay the price and the ultimate sacrifice. I have deep respect for them fighting under their flag. I see that they are reporting to send my Era tank to Ukraine. Hope they get them and helps them. It's a very good tank. Maybe the Germans will send some leopards too. Just a side note. When I saw or see the dead...they do not seem real to me. Seems surreal to me. I'm a crazy Oldman. Wish I was younger to help. Keep on doing what you do. Keep yourself and your children safe. Till next time you move me to write. Peace. Stay safe. God Speed. 🌹♥️🤘

Thanks for your translation of this Olga , brings tears this sad story , I’m glad she had Gods protection throughout the ordeal . The 80,000 dead civilians is tragic, and then the defending deaths as well ! What a disaster this whole thing is . I’m glad you and your family are safe but your heart is Ukrainian you always care about Ukraine. I’ve always said you’re an ambassador for Ukraine . I have a Ukrainian girlfriend near Kiev , talking to her four years hopefully able to meet in June . She’s very worried about her brother who has been called up for defending Donbas region . May the whole world pray and stand up against this evil invaders that are trying to destroy your beautiful country . God bless all Ukrainian people from New Zealand

She's a warrior and should be praised. I remember how angry my Congresswoman Spartz got. Someone in leadership mishandled that whole area protecting Mariopol. Thank-you

The brave people of Ukraine will need to heal from the atrocities and war crimes that are happening every day. Mariupol was an atrocity, a war crime, and this does not touch the sides of the trauma survivors relive afterwards. The trauma is significant and PTSD will need to be a keystone of the rebuild.

Dear Olga, Your report is so valuable. But please do not add music in the background. The things are too serious for that, it's not entertainment. Your words are enough, and they touch us. The facts move us, the soft music in the background just distracts us. Again, thanks for your important work!

Дякую за переказ, я не знаю, чи зможу послухати саме інтерв’ю, але в переказі дізнатись трохи пташкиної душі - надзвичайно цінно.

I have friends, a man and his wife, who both worked at avastol. They both escaped Mariupol, and they are safe, in western Ukraine. Some day, I will meet them again, and here their story. All I know now, is the roof of their house, is gone. I remember asking those peoples Mother, and Mother in law, about what they thought of Russia, and how was life in Ukraine now, compared to soviet times. The lady actually said things were better. And when we went driving, across the country, and came across bad roads, they said things weren't like that before, because the Russians maintained the roads. I'm not saying they were pro Russian, but told two sides of a story. So now, after what' taken place in Ukraine, I'm sure many people, had no idea, how awful the Russians can be. Ukrainians can never trust them again, which is why they will fight to the end.

Some people really miss Soviet times for few reasons: 1. Your salary does not depends if you work or not, You may come to your work place and do nothing and you will be paid. At the same time if you overwork - you are not just not paid more, but bullied that you try to be better than others. For sure in private business things works in different way. 2. People miss their young age and remember it as "very good times". Very often you can hear it even from 30-years old today, than Kyiv in their childhood was better... while it wasn't for sure, but their child memories see it like that

That's rich coming from a Brit whose country bullied and occupied several countries with its guns, except the United States which slapped your country and its navy pretty bad before its independence in 1776. And your country is still acting as a bully in Europe but hiding in the shadows of the United States. If it wasn't for the United States in WWII coming to rescue Britain from falling to Germany, it would've been part of Germany now. So it's best you crawl back to your little neighborhood pub, and get drunk. 🍺🍺🍺
