You forgot about the 2012 Tigers making the World Series. “should’ve!!” Won that. But you did say “2000s”Effing Prince Fielder ruined everything. Wings were in the glory days. Pistons shocked the world (minus Michigan) and beat Kobe, Shaq, Malone @ Payton. Now all of our sports teams are Lion like. Rough times to be a fan in the D.

The 2004 Detroit Pistons were great but they should have won at least 4 rings: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and if they don't trade Billups, 2009.

I'm on board with a 2005 championship at a bare minimum. The Pistons protected Darko Milicic and let go of Mehmet Okur, who promptly went on to average roughly 16 points and 8 rebounds for Utah for the next five years while Darko was a total bust . That ONE mistake kept them from winning at least one more championship.

All 3 of the Pistons championship teams were looked down on because they interfered with who the national sports media and league office wanted to be champions (in 1988 they still wanted more Magic and Bird, then in 1989 they wanted Jordan and Magic…1990 they wanted Jordan v Magic or Drexler…in 2004 they wanted more Kobe and Shaq success…in 2005 to 2008 they always wanted Wade, LeBron, or Celts Big 3 from the East in the finals). On another note…Tony’s opening line about Aretha Franklin’s chest and he and Wilbon’s dialogue into the intro music would get them both cancelled in today’s climate.

MikeG82 Objectivity has nothing to do with nostalgia. I think the upset of this game shows that it actually was a competitive league. Moreover, there was literally a different matchup in the NBA Finals over the next several years. Good try though.
@MikeG82
@MikeG82 4 жыл бұрын
@@supervilla06 this was ONE fluke upset that took an injury by malone and the shaq/kobe relationship finally collapsing to the point of not being able to coexist along with tons of other locker room and organizational drama every other year the clear favorite won but you think this one year proves the league was competitive? the years before this the lakers won 3 in a row, the spurs won 2 before this series and they won the next year too, so one team outside the spurs and lakers won one title in a span of 7 seasons, yeah so competitive LOL guess how many teams won a title in the last 6 years, 4 so that makes the league more competitive now HAHAA good try pretending you actually know something, but any person with a brain can see you are blinded by nostalgia how old were you in 2004? i'm betting you were a child

The 2004 Lakers were the biggest soap opera in the entire league. So much went wrong in the finals for them. Guys clearly did not care about playing hard, too many egos, guys were old and worn out physically and mentally, Kobe and Shaq couldn't stand each other and the Pistons were just better. They basically put the nail in the coffin on LA for at least the next 8 years.

Kobe said after the first half of game 1 that the Lakers hadn’t played the Pistons much and was just feeling their way around them. Maybe assumed they would do better in the second half with their normal ‘fast breaks’ but the Pistons defense was too tough. Shaq did put up about 30 points though.

Then followed that up with another three straight trips to the ECF to make it six straight appearances there. That's a lot of success. As for your comment below, I have no idea what makes you say they cheated against MJ. Sure, they were a dirty team, but nothing they did were outside of the rules that were in place in the NBA at the time. You clearly are a hater and don't know much about basketball.
